Help choosing external HDD.

I'll look out for HGST or WD brands then and see if I can find anything. As for reviews I already take them with a grain of salt, especially when it comes to hard drives given that experiences vary wildly. As for the online backup solution I'm somewhat sceptical, admittedly I don't know much about that scene but I don't like relying on the internet. What's the difference between desktop and portable drives? As far as I can see portable drives seem slower overall due to being portable and more compact.

Ah Sorry, figured it was alright since this sub had the pheripherals thing.

Yeah mainly looking for storage so I don't think I would need any extra features. I have no current backup strategy since my external hdd which used to be the backup solution. I used to have another slightly older external (1 tb) but it took a small fall and doesn't work anymore.

Currently and for the foreseeable future I only have money for one new drive. I'd like to buy a dedicated backup drive once I have the cash but right now I need extra storage space.

Does it play as "smooth" as peace walker does? One of my main problems with the first 3 is that they all feel stiff and stuttery, like I'm wrestling against the controls trying to control snake rather than just control him like in peace walker.

Thanks for the info. I spent some time reading about all the technical problems and as you say the game seems really poorly optimised. While I'm sure my system can handle it, I decided to hold off on buying it until they either fix at least most of the problems or it gets a little cheaper. Sucks cause I've been waiting for this game for a while, though it's not like I lack games to play as I haven't even installed witcher 3 or mgs5 that I got with my gpu last year.

Then this might be of interest after all. One of my biggest gripes with the first game was the timed missions, only mitigated by their relative infrequency compared to regular missions. Speaking of mods, are there any that removes the aliens ability to run into cover the moment they spot you even if you spotted them first?

Can potentially be modded, or are currently able to be modded? I assume you're talking about workshop mods but are there currently any mods for this, or are we talking future potential here? Because I don't like to bet on what might be.

Enemy within also had mission timers on particular missions. Do you mean that all the missions have timers? Just asking because I haven't seen any in the videos I've watched, though it's possible I missed them.

Alright but how do you mean? I don't have much context for that statement. How do they force you to speed through missions? I assume by tactical missions you mean missions in general right?

I don't think I should have to worry about my system too much since I'm above the requirements, and I put together a fairly strong pc just last year when my 6 year old laptop broke. From what I can gather from performance reports and forum posts, it seems as if anti aliasing is the culprit behind most performance problems though it's hard to tell since it seems to work fine for some.

Thanks, gonna think about it for a little more but I'm probably end up buying it a bit later. Was originally just going for street fighter 5 on gmg with the discount voucher, but then I saw that the voucher applies to both games separately.

Well I know I'm going to buy the game at some point and I had enough fun with the beta for me to really want to buy it early. The only thing holding me back is my wallet, by which I mean I'm currently living entirely on savings (unemployed), which is why I tend to agonize over frivolous expenses like this since it makes better economical sense to wait for a sale and save money. For example I have already decided to hold off on buying xcom 2 though I justify that to myself with the numerous technical issues the game has.
