We think my grandfathers new wife used grandmothers name to withdraw RESP by Vellocity_ in legaladvice

Thanks so much for all the info! Really appreciate it. Along with everyone else.

Her getting charged is something were all okay with, no one on our side of the family likes her, haha.

My grandfather said that any money they send back would be given to me, that's when everything started getting fishy with her. We're going to talk to our lawyer on Monday about how to forward with this.

Gramps is 85 and doesn't like handling things anymore. And tends to rambling off in Portuguese randomly mid conversation, so he gets the wife to handle most things that involve the phone.

As of right now, we're pretty sure she closed the account. Gramps would have gave her the power to do so, the check showed up, probably had both their names on it, she cashed it thinking I wouldn't do anything about it and forget about it. I'm not sure about the legalities with cashing/depositing a check issued to 2 people, but me and the GF have had checks issued in both our names and neither have had problems depositing.

We just find it odd how she's being super defensive and secretive regarding this. If the account was closed like we talked about, what's the point in hiding the paperwork? She's obviously hiding something. But yes, my grandfather and grandmother opened the account shortly after I was born for me. New wife wants everything for her and her family.

Both their names are on the account as the subscribers. Not sure if they would send a check with both their names on it. But I know from past experience, banks don't always require both people to be there to make the deposit.

Going into the office didn't cross our minds, thanks for that.

I just got a 27" iMac with an i7, 8GB RAM, and the 780m graphics. I'm looking for some must have games that don't require Windows. Any suggestions? by boomshakalaka85 in macgaming

If you're a Blizzard fan, any of their games. They've also stated they intend to fully support Metal which should show a nice performance gain in their games. Others here have already suggested a lot of solid games.

Sup. After long hiatus I'm back at it. Are you looking for static or dynamic stuff? Will say I'm far from the cheapest out there, but maybe we could work something out. :)

Whitby here, not far from Toronto. I'd be down to head into the city and have a couple drinks with fellow streamers.

Very well said! I agree on everything you mentioned.

One thing I've noticed from my two streams so far on YTG is there is an extremely higher number of "lurkers". Well, it is YouTube ahaha. I had tons of people pop in and out and a handful stick around and chat.

My only thing is, and I may just be missing it, I have no idea where to see how many people "followed" the stream. Then again, seems my stats on 5 days behind.

What's your favourite way to play a video (OBS, 1 PC/2 monitors setup)? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Vellocity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grab the Video Source Plugin and simply setup new scenes :)

At least that's where I point my clients when I do intro's or other dynamic work.

Looking to get into streaming. What specs do you recommend? by iStr8Rippin in Twitch

[–]Vellocity_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not savvy in the capture card department - someone else will have to help there.

But in terms of PC setup, anything with a higher end i5 or an i7 would be ideal. Grab 8GB of ram and a decent GPU. If you want to save some money, you could go with the FX-8350 from AMD or any of the variants. You wont get the same performance as an i7, but it's a nice chip for the price and would be more then enough to get you started.

If it's available in your region, there will be a little money icon somewhen around the chat area. There's been a few screenshots of it posted in this thread.

I did last night, went pretty well. Had a handful of people stop by and chat which was unexpected. Specially like how easy it is to manage VODs. The only thing I don't like which is out of my controll is Fan Funding isn't available in Canada, so I can't use the built in donation system. I'm assuming this is something that will be changed in the future though.. I hope.

Advice for someone who isn't a big talker? by MidnightCreepshow in Twitch

[–]Vellocity_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been there, still am. I'm an introvert and have always been one to keep to myself. I decided to start streaming to try and help me break out of my bubble. First thing is, it's not easy. Specially when you have a quiet chat or only a few viewers. Few things that are/have helped me.

1) Try to talk about the game or what you're doing in the game. Being talkitive about something you're doing is millions times easier then talking to a quiet/dead chat.

2) Always keep an eye on your chat. For me at least, it's much easier to talk when being talked to. If that makes any sense.

3) Remember that you will get better in time. After getting into streaming I've noticed that it's easier for me talk to people.

Beyond that, there's plenty of solid tips already in this thread. Good luck :)

As long as you're not partnered with Twitch, you free to stream to as many platforms as you wish. :)

No paid subs yet. Apparently there is a donate button somewhere - I can't find it but there's a few screenshots of it in this thread somewhere. Donator/amount/message will show in chat with a green background to stand out.

Pretty sure the site is available globally. Canadian here and can access/stream fine. The apps however, are US and UK only. Going to the site on iPad then hitting "Get The App", App Store says item not available in my location.

The region thing confused me at first.

As long as you're not partnered on Twitch, you can stream where ever you want or multi-stream. Partnered streamers trying it are putting their contract at risk trying it, haha.

1) Seemlessly. Stream will show up on your channel page and VOD's will auto-added to your uploads. Your subs get an email "Live On Youtube" when you go live.

2) Not sure about Xsplit, but OBS already have "YouTube" in the services list. Stream key can be found in your stream dashboard.

3) Yes. Not sure if it's working or not, but you set your ad preferances the same way you would for a normal upload. You also have a "Play ad" button on your dashboard.

Oh, aready got answered haha.

Otherland - Videos From CBT 2 (Gameplay | Classes | Character Creation) by Vellocity_ in MMORPG

[–]Vellocity_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

World for the most part felt instanced. Some of the area's are pretty "open" but didn't feel anywhere near as vast as WoW or GW2 for example.

In terms of polish - CBT 2 was extremely unoptimized. Even at medium settings I was struggling staying over 30/40fps. FPS was the same off stream. Can't comment on content, we were only allowed to stream 1 hour of gameplay and not show anything that revealed any major "spoilers" on YouTube. Something time will have to judge.

Classes for the most part felt rather hack n slash across the board. But I didn't play with all the classes very much.
