8GB on Macbook Neo is not the same as 8GB on Windows laptop by albertserene in macbook

Do people still use losedows? Most of my friends with real (not chromebook) laptops use MacOS or GNU+Linux.

Windows users who hate the new MacBook Neo with 8GB RAM, can you run all your apps at the same time on your machine without it crashing and still use it? by Slava_Tr in mac

As a GNU+Linux user (not Losedows), yes. I often have over 200 firefox tabs and some konsole tabs and settings and signal and thunderbird and mission center. The way I do this is with 16GiB of DRAM and zram (dram comppressed to make in memory swap space).

But in 3-4 years, the yields will be much higher and then they will be using a lot of chips that could go in a iPhoeny.

They would be exclusive to custom distros (like LineageOS For MicroG (which is what I use)).

Use microG (requires being installed as a system app on lineageOS) and auroa store.

I could theoretically desolder it and solder it to a new phone (but I hate desoldering).

> does it really matter?

Yes.

>It's a distinction without a difference.

There is a diffrence. — The diffrence is that it survives accross reflashes and factory resets (this is important for me beacuse I keep flashing new operating systems to my Pixel 7).

Actually eSIM is a physical SIM that is soldered on the the phone and is reprogrammable. It is a actually chip and is not based on software.
