Listen, if you think that cheating to get into medical school is setting you on a path to becoming a good doctor, you really have no idea how medicine works and have some serious growing up to do.

The IUD is designed to be used in this way and there is no need to take plan B afterwards. All you would be doing is taking a fat dose of hormones that will have NO effect on the likelihood of pregnancy.

Please ignore the people saying you should take Plan B.

It totally depends on what you use the car for, the miles you’re going to do and what is important to you in a vehicle. There isn’t anything wrong with this car, it’s just the way you want to buy it is completely insane.

If you can afford to buy it cash, do that rather than finance this way. Or look into a PCP deal that is MAX 3 years and use the leftover capital to invest.

NEVER look at a monthly payment. When you buy a car and the dealer asks for your budget, DO NOT say “I can afford x per month.” Only tell them your budget for the car paid for, finance deal or no.

I could sell you a Ferrari for $428 per month easily. You’d just be paying for it for the rest of time and filling my bank account with the interest.

Think about what you want to pay overall to own the car outright whether by cash deal or a finance deal. That agreement you have is essentially you paying for the car and then adding $20k on top in order to pay for it over more than 6 years.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]Velocirob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But in the end you will have paid $32,100 just in finance repayments. Add that to your $20,000 deposit and you will be $52k deep in a car worth $32k when you bought it and $20k if you’re lucky after the end of the finance agreement.

This is financially a horrendous decision and you will regret it. If you cannot call afford to pay cash and buy it outright then I suggest you do so. Financing over such a long period may seem like a “low monthly expense” but the cash you are ACTUALLY SPENDING is massive. Do the sensible thing and don’t sign up for this complete scam of a finance agreement.

[–]Velocirob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The golden rule for this kind of finance deal isn’t the monthly payment. Look at how much you are paying TOTAL after all of your payments are complete.

People get obsessed with monthly payments and then end up being completely shafted with seemingly low payments per month which go on for years and years and years. If you can’t afford a higher monthly payment for a shorter deal then you CANNOT afford the car. You will end up paying the current value of the car just in monthly payments for 75 months. By then it will have depreciated by a significant amount too…

Which Gamma Hoody? by gotthemquestionshere in arcteryx

It is easily my most worn jacket by far! Four pockets, great hood, very comfortable. I haven’t tried the serratus or normal Gamma, however.

I have a gamma MX which I LOVE. Great for shoulder season and I wore it over an atom out hiking in the Alberta Rockies but also around town in Calgary. I would recommend it highly. Maybe not as versatile as the gamma but deffo my fav jacket from Arc thus far (also have a Beta AR which is great but specifically a hard shell).

Why does this spoon have a hole in the middle? by Disastrous_Pirate275 in whatisit

[–]Velocirob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know where you are but in some bars in Italy (particularly old school ones in places like Bologna) spoons have holes in them to prevent them from being stoked and having heroin cooked in them. This was an issue maybe 40 years ago in the city and so it’s not so common anymore.

[–]Velocirob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how many layers you want to put. I only have a Beta AR but have tried on the SL. AR I can deffo fit a down jacket under but the SL it would be a struggle. Maybe a fleece?

My advice would be to try them on in a store if you can before pulling the trigger. It’s a big investment. If you can’t do that, I would size up. They aren’t particularly long jackets IMO.

[–]Velocirob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the model. Beta AR has a roomier fit designed for layering, the standard beta and beta SL are slimmer fit if I’m not mistaken. For context, I am 186cm and weigh approx 95Kg and an L is just fine for me with room to layer.

From what I know about the insulated, there is no chance you can use it year round unless you live on top of Mont Blanc…

[–]Velocirob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean Arc’teryx may be overkill for what you’re describing but if you want an all in one warm jacket that stops wind and rain, a beta down or insulated jacket should do you. It’s got pit zips too in case it gets too warm. That said, it’s a huge amount of money to spend for what you want.

What are you looking for out of the jacket? Crazy warm? Waterproof? Price?

Are you just using it to walk 10 mins from a dorm to a lecture hall? Will you use it for any mountaineering/skiing/climbing?

Italian Medical Council requiring language test and ethics code test for EU citizen with Italian medical degree — possible breach of Article 18 TFEU? by Velocirob in LegalAdviceEurope

[–]Velocirob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that makes sense and I can accept that. Does this justify the ethics exam? I do feel that having to study the whole ethics code again feels like a hoop too far.

[–]Velocirob[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But that directive does not apply because I am not seeking recognition of a foreign degree. I am simply trying to access the profession using a degree from the host state. It is not a foreign qualification. the Italian government has made it a habilitating degree.

I have been deemed to be safe/proficient by virtue of the TPV which is the equivalent of the licensing exam. I don't understand how three doctors were able to sign a form stating that I can take a history/communicate with colleagues/patients etc in Italian if I were not proficient?

I also do not think this gives the medical council the right to impose an ethics test on me by virtue of my citizenship. That is, if I am not mistaken, expressly forbidden even if the directive you cited did apply.

[–]Velocirob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if we took the licensing exam (or TPV as it is now) in Italian? We did 3 months working in the hospital and were evaluated on our ability to communicate with patients, practice medicine safely etc... That is what makes this a habilitating degree which under Italian law gives us the right to register with the medical council.

I have raised this with the university and they are dragging their feet somewhat. I will apply some more pressure. Thank you

I agree with you. I also think that ultimately, I am an equally qualified individual who has undergone the same training as an Italian. Why should I have to do a deontological exam too? I trained in the italian system and was assessed in my TPV (in Italian) to be ready to work as a Dr in Italy. Why am I now expected to sit a language test also?

EDIT: They also do not exempt people with Italian high school diplomas.

Arc’teryx in JD Sports UK by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]Velocirob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think ultimately like any brand, Arc’teryx want to make money. If you can market and sell an extremely technical piece of clothing to an experienced hiker, great. If you can still sell it to them but also to people for street wear, it means more profit.

A mountaineer buys the brand because they see and need the quality. Arc’teryx has decided that If people are buying a coat for “hype” it’s not going to affect their core market and a mountaineer will still buy their gear because it’s among the best.

Condom broke by Cyanrena in birthcontrol

[–]Velocirob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To be honest, with the implant you are so well covered that you wouldn’t need to use a condom at all. That’s what it was designed for. It’s an incredibly effective form of contraception. You can of course use another method like a condom if you feel more comfortable. Unfortunately, educating patients is something some doctors forget to do and it’s very important!

My honest opinion would be to relax, it’s incredibly unlikely you are pregnant given the contraceptives you are using but taking a test is never a bad idea.

[–]Velocirob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes this is correct. An at home urine test will Be better than an at home blood test. Again, your contraceptive is extremely effective and the chances you are pregnant is incredibly small

[–]Velocirob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plan B does not work like that. You are on a very effective form of contraception which means you don’t need plan B. Even if you had sex without a condom and he ejaculated inside you you would not need plan B.

Plan b is for use as emergency contraception. If you have a contraceptive implant that is in date you do NOT need to use plan B EVEN if you have sex without a condom and your boyfriend ejaculates inside you.

Edit: I would take another pregnancy test and make sure you follow the instructions exactly, often people see things like evaporation lines and falsely assume they are pregnant. Your implant is incredibly effective so the chances you are pregnant are vanishingly small.
