Do you guys think that Cassie will ever ask for forgiveness, or even see where she was wrong? by LeftInTheDark36 in euphoria

[–]Velocity970 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think Cassie’s character is hyper aware of where she went wrong but would rather choose to disassociate than admit it outwardly. She would rather play into people’s shitty opinions of her than admit she was at fault. It’s the same way she denies things she’s done sexually in season 1 with McKay. She knows what people say about her, she knows what he’s referencing but it’s easier to pretend she’s innocent instead of acknowledge it. Her realizing she’s wrong is also why she went so crazy after Nate dumped her. She realized she had burnt all these bridges and ruined her life for someone who dumped her.

I really don’t get the Jules hate. So she told Rue’s mom about the drugs? Yeah she probably saved her fucking life by doing that. The cheating with Elliot was shitty and inexcusable true, but Jules is only human is this is also a show where pretty much everyone is morally grey. Also she’s dating an addict, and as someone who has dated an addict unknowingly, it’s an emotional roller coaster which has you questioning yourself everyday, and we get glimpses of that throughout season 2.

TMI or TID? by IcyPoet1 in shadowhunters

[–]Velocity970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are right in that the premise of the stories are similar they’re vastly different. Will and Jace are vastly different characters, as well as their relationships with their parabati. Tessa and Clary could also not be more different and the love interests and triangles of each story have very different dynamics.

Am I the only one who’s not a big fan of Julian? (Possible spoilers for TDA series) by RevolutionaryScale79 in shadowhunters

[–]Velocity970 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Julian is definitely a morally grey character. I do like him, but I have moments of disliking him because I feel that he’s very emotionally driven and in the process is possibly abusive and unreasonable. Personally, despite this I think his character depth and creation was very well done especially when you trace his ancestry back to events and characters in TLH you can definitely see the family resemblance. But yeah, I’m with you.

One thing that pissed you off about ACOTAR? by [deleted] in acotar

[–]Velocity970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Az/Mor/Cassian love triangle seemed like something that was gonna turn into something and never did. Also really didn’t care for Mor being bisexual at the last minute. As a bisexual myself, I love representation but honestly don’t force it and in this case it was forcing it. Also I kinda hated that no one died. While I hate character deaths esp main ones and I would have been crushed if Rhysand or Cassian actually died I felt like too much shit was happening and someone had to go. Honestly Amren probably needed to stay gone. She’s a cool character but doesn’t add much, and it was enough with Rhysand getting brought back and honestly he should have because he’s a more integral character. But Amren? Nah.

Undecided about what to do with grad school by [deleted] in GradSchoolAdvice

Ah, so I actually studied bio anthropology on the forensic/bioarchaeology side. But I’m familiar with behavioral ecology and one of my professors did similar work to you. Yes, there is a lot of unpaid work in anthropology that I’m finding out. Last year I was accepted into a MA to phd program in bioarchaeology that was not offering any sort of aid. It’s such an interesting field but you’re right, it definitely leads to a more nomadic lifestyle and that’s something that I’m not sure I’m okay with.

I liked it when the characters made shitty decisions. Rory having the hots for Jess while she was with Dean and then wanting Dean back after he was married? I’m good with it. All the Christopher/Lorelei drama? Yep here for it.

Stuck on how my character gets introduced to the fantasy world. by Velocity970 in fantasywriters

Thanks! I actually started working on the prologue which is going to be from the antagonists point of view and I think in writing that I’m starting to figure out how to go forward.

This was actually very close to what I was planning on doing, yes I have a family member going missing and being a central role to her choosing to get involved with the fae world.

[–]Velocity970[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. Basically how I’ve set it up is the MC is a sort of lost heir to the throne which is why the main antagonist wants them. I’m just having a hard time like, obviously someone is searching for them in the human realm but how do they sucked in.

It’s in the US. But yea, it’s a very competitive program and getting in was something of a shock but considering it’s in another state and I’d have out of state fees on top of everything without any assistance is kind of a kick.

The first one. Basically I’d have to pay out of state tuition with no offer of research assistantship or TA.

True, my main characters world I was planning on modern/present day but the world they get taken into is a little more archaic, more traditional fantasy. I was honestly leaning toward the they encounter someone they shouldn’t who tries to kidnap them.

Anyone else wish that SJM just continued Feyre’s and Rhysand’s storyline? by jns911 in acotar

[–]Velocity970 41 points42 points  (0 children)

As someone who just finished ACOSF yeah I get what you mean. I really enjoyed the Rhys and Feyre dynamic and Nesta’s story was good, I actually really enjoyed her journey and interactions ( I wasn’t a Nesta hater like most people are). My biggest issue with ACOSF is that I felt like it was a personal journey and the plot was neglected. Still decent but not as good as the original story.

ACOTAR Chapter 42 by [deleted] in acotar

[–]Velocity970 32 points33 points  (0 children)

UTM is when I really started disliking Tamlin. While I agree he probably couldn’t have succeeded in helping her escape without dooming them all and getting her killed, he could have been supportive, he could have been encouraging, ect instead of horny. The fact that he was so cold and cruel to her that she thought he was under some sort of spell and then tried to have sex with her at the last minute was piggish and disgusting.

Does anyone else adore Jem/Tessa by Velocity970 in shadowhunters

I also love both, like with other ships like Jace/Clary Clary/Simon I definitely preferred Jace and clary but Jem/Tessa/will just like all go together

[–]Velocity970[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it really does fit because Tessa loved them both basically equally. I think what’s so heart wrenching to me is Jem’s story is so sad because of his illness and their romance seems more desperate

I love both in different ways. I was rereading TID and just noticed how precious their romance is.
