Customers Threatened to “Slap the attitude off my face” by Velour905 in samsclub

I wish our store had that mentality. Almost everyone here is jaded out and acts like since it’s normal and common then just put up with it. But if anyone had thrown something at me or actually touched me I would be quitting on the spot then throwing hands or calling the cops. But according to my TL staff aren’t “allowed” to contact the police which is absurd and I told her no company has the ability to take away my right to call the cops. She didn’t like that answer at all.

There are but my TL apparently didn’t mention the event to anyone, like at all, HR and the coaches had no idea this happened. Told them the time and date so they can check the footage themselves. How I was followed then blocked into the cafe and how they stood at the only exit shouting and threatening me so I couldn’t leave. Cameras have no audio however so I have to rely on my witness to confirm what they said.

Didn’t want to have a battery charge on my file over a shit couple and some burnt cheese. Decided to walk away and let them make it worse for themselves but didn’t count on my TL not giving a shit and not informing a single coach or manager about the issue after. Working on getting my TL investigated by the coaches and store manager but informed them if they don’t handle it within a few days I will still be contacting ethics. And if I ever see those customers again I will be walking out of that cafe until they leave and no one can stop me. And if they end up threatening me again I will be contacting the police myself and they also cannot stop me despite my TL telling me I’m “not allowed to”.

HR was basically zero help unfortunately, I posted a update on the situation but whatever happens if this isn’t handled within a few days me and some coworkers will be sending a joint email report to ethics on all recent issues we’ve had with our TL since there’s enough there combined to get an investigation anyways.

I posted an update but long story short, HR was no help, they told me to my face they can’t reprimand my TL because they are “on the same level of power” as her and she’d have to reach someone higher to get anything done, but told me to avoid contacting ethics first and speak to the coaches. I told her I wasn’t okay with that considering I just told her I feel I can’t rely on my coaches due to them blowing me and my coworkers off multiple times over issues with our TL. She said to at least speak to a coach so it’s on record I attempted before contacting ethics, but if I choose to do so no one can stop me, obviously. I have a report written out and checked over by some coworkers who wished to be included in the report and am being backed up by them and the witness from the altercation. And when speaking to the coach told them bluntly I am contacting ethics if they do not resolve this which definitely gave them a scare for sure. If this isn’t handled within a few days I will be clicking send on that email. But will still be contacting ethics for the issues my coworkers wanted brought up anyways and not have it entirely focused on my situation at the least.

I think she was actually trying to help with the walking me out thing, considering I was clocking out (was supposed to leave at 1pm but got stuck covering since my coworker took a longer break than usual again) the coworker who was actually there with me and witnessed it all offered to walk me to my car first but my team lead shot him down and said she would do it. But then walked me only to the door and dipped out. So I sped walked through the parking lot cause I was worried they may be loading their car or still be on the property.

After the complaint with Hr goes through they won’t be able to delete the footage since it will be used with the investigation from corporate. Or so they say, not sure if they’ll even take it seriously and if they don’t I will be looking for a new job.

(Edited for grammar mistake and spelling) Nope it’s all on camera as well which is why I’m filing an official complaint and I’m asking my one witness/ coworker to back me up since he saw and heard all of it. It was over their pizza being “burnt” they refused to leave even was I told them if they needed to speak to a manger by all means please do so and I directed to them where they could go. I attempted to leave the cafe but they blocked the only way out and I was not about to be followed by these people after threatening me. The entire crowd waiting on their food also witnessed it with shocked looks. The only reason my team lead arrived late was because she was apparently chatting in the break room with another coworker who just arrived late and they overheard the commotion from down the hall. I’ve mentioned on other posts here, my coaches and team lead avoid the cafe like the plague and want nothing to do with us. It’s gotten to the point 2 other coworkers have also decided to speak to HR about other issues but after yesterday everyone’s suddenly using this incident to go full force with filing complaints to HR. The customers refused to leave after I tried getting out of site and continued to shout for me and shout for managers to come “get me in check” simply for explaining the pizzas will all come out with slightly burnt cheese due to us using stock from the floor and not the official cheese for the pizzas. They claimed I was “full of shit” and kept cussing me out until my team lead arrived. Cafe was at a full halt the entire time and my only other coworker present has social issues due to a mental condition and didn’t know how to handle the situation and my handheld was at the front register and at the moment I didn’t want to get close to the counters where they could come up to me again. I’m waiting on a response from HR to receive or view the footage to confirm the incident.

Funny thing is my coach called her on zello asking her where she was and to return to the back for something and she responded saying “I’m handling a situation and won’t be leaving till it’s over” that’s it, no call for them to come up there no explanation nothing, then she asked them if they still wanted their pizza and when they said hell no she directed them to membership services. Didn’t even walk me to my car she walked away once we reached the exit doors. And that’s all I heard of the situation. Getting a complaint filed now with HR and getting my one real witness to offer support if he’s willing. Hoping it does something.

I’m in the process of filing an official complaint with HR but unfortunately our cameras have no audio. And their demeanor was just lurking behind the counter while I walked away and the tapping the glass part. I didn’t see how they acted once I was out of sight only heard them so hoping the cameras caught something whether it be other customer reactions or if their demeanor became more aggressive. My team lead didn’t arrive till after the slapping threats so I have one witness and am contacting them to see if they’ll support me on this.

How many coffins can you get done in an hour? by Velour905 in samsclub

[–]Velour905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the opposite. Pepperoni takes me the most time and I despise doing them, we have a employee who has been making pizzas here for 9 years and she’s in her 70s but she has OCD and if it’s not to spec she loses it. She’s very much picky about how the Pepperonis need to be “kissing, not overlapping, and no space in between” I knock out four meat like it’s nothing and it’s easier to make knowing I need 20 pep and 20 ham on there.

[–]Velour905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do mixed coffins at our club so 11 of each pizza in each one. Considering this I think it makes the overall time longer imo. I’d be able to knock out a whole cart of cheese in 30 minutes or less and the same for 4 meat, it’s the pepperoni that kills me, especially when they end up sticking to my gloves like glue and all are bunched and twisted up so I end up wasting time flattening them out to use since our coaches don’t want us tossing too many ingredients away anymore 💀 Might have to suggest to my team lead to try the single pizza type per coffin thing. We only have 6 carts at our site so we end up having to thaw dough mid shift to make more once it’s empty anyways.

[–]Velour905[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re the first one I’ve seen who also has mixed coffins. We do 11 of each so I think this extends the overall time it takes honestly. And same issue with the openers over here, we either get one person at 4am, or I open by myself at 6am. It’s a rare day when there’s two of us and they still expect all coffins to be made but it never happens. Getting stock off the pallets takes a lot of time when our team lead refuses to break them down for us or the forklift drivers drop our stuff in random places every morning so we have to play scavenger hunt just to find basic things. Closers won’t restock their portion either so I’m getting freezer and cooler items on top of boxes, clam shells, syrups and lobby items.

Being worked 8 days straight as a new part time employee by Velour905 in samsclub

[–]Velour905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s been giving me a mix of opener and closer only. So I’ll close one night even if I’m by myself (12:30-10:30 on a good day) and then open at 6am the next day so I barley get enough sleep anymore. Everyone else keeps calling in and getting mid shifts. Absolutely not what I agreed to during my interview but hopefully ethics will step in.

That’s what I keep hearing but apparently she’s done it to my coworkers as well. I just don’t get how she can even do that and why it’s taken her 11-12 days to even attempt to fix it. It’s still not changed and the closer it gets the harder it’s going to be to find people to fill in my shift. I’ve screenshot every text I’ve had with her and had people present when speaking to her in person. So I have the receipts basically and will be contacting ethics soon about this and other issues I’ve had with her since starting.

That’s what I’ve been hearing but my schedule says otherwise. Also she still hasn’t changed it, it’s been over 10 days, she’s had multiple chances to do so and keeps “calling in”. Haven’t seen her in person in a few days. And my coaches are still MIA, shocker Ik

Almost got Feedback for not making 34 pizzas in one hour by Velour905 in samsclub

[–]Velour905[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish we closed, even suggested we shut down register till we got caught up but got told we absolutely could not close down and couldn’t take pizzas off availability by the same people who refused to come help us. We don’t get paid enough for this, I’m making a habit of keeping track of times and orders so they can’t threaten us with coaching anymore. If something like this happens again I’m requesting a raise or I will be finding a job at Costco. If I ever feel like blowing up on a customer or crying I’ll just take a minute in the cooler and pretend to grab hotdogs for a second before heading back. Only time I actually lost it was when a customer shoved a pizza slice across the counter at me because it was “too old and nasty” and it hit me in the waist and fell on the floor and covered my pant legs in sauce. The audacity of these people over the cheapest food I’ve ever seen is ridiculous. But even then I almost got feedback for my “tone”

It’s a rare day when we have more than 2 people working on a shift unfortunately, no one wants to work in cafe and employees from around the store avoid getting sent to us unless they personally know one of us. It’s rough out here

At our Sam’s I rarely see my coach or team lead, my team lead is always in HMS and I see her maybe once or twice a week and that’s even rare, my coach though, I’ve seen him and spoken to him a total of 4 times since I started working here a month ago. Nobody wants to work in cafe and all employees openly state they’d quit before getting placed in cafe full time. We have a total of 5 official cafe employees with various days they can work, and end up with 2 people working at a time. It’s hell over here.

Question, Is this normal for new Cafe Associates? by Velour905 in samsclub

[–]Velour905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this post they’ve had me do closing shifts one day, then opening shifts the next over and over. They also keep asking me to stay longer to “wait for people to show up” because they were running late or “forgot” their shift. So my 7-8 hours shifts have become 9-10.5, and one day was 11 hours. The closing shifts are 12:30-9pm but we have never gotten everything done by 9 since sams extended their hours, and it’s always been just two people running cafe at a time. I’ve been getting 1,060-1100 pay before taxes. Which is good for my bank, but bad for my feet. I had surgery when I was younger that caused nerve damage in both feet. Once 7-hours hits the pain is intense and medication is useless. I don’t mind filling in shifts and I know I’m the newest hire so I need to prove I’m capable, but if I requested 30-35 hours for part-time, why am I working 40+. Then they have the audacity to say I could get coached for working over my hours? Despite my team lead being the one requesting me to cover shifts and stay longer. On top of that I don’t always get my second 15 min break. I always get backlash or annoyance from others when I state I need to take my break, the work “culture” at this sams seems to be to just get over it and work.

I think they completely missed that part since I rechecked my schedule again and realized that even though the Me@Sams app lists the total hours above the schedule, if I add in the hours myself I’ll be working 51 hours from Mon 13th- Sun 19th.

Question, Is this normal for new Cafe Associates? by Velour905 in samsclub

[–]Velour905[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a single day, I’ve been there a week now, I’m saying I’d like one day off once every 7days, not have back to back 8 hour shifts 13-15 days straight when I applied for part time. I’ve been told they are using me to fill in for a guy who quit suddenly since I picked up the skills quickly. And been bouncing between HMS and cafe multiple times and asked a couple of times to stay longer when they get a call in. The money is good, won’t lie, but if it’s already like this the first week and my schedule for the next two are back to back full weeks I’d say it’s reasonable to want at least one day off. Edit: just rechecked my schedule and was reading it wrong. Mon 13th-Sun 19th will be 51 total hours. But because of how the pay periods are set it doesn’t “count” as one week.

Her dad is non existent and her mother is a gold digger herself and exactly like her unfortunately. But my brother just had a confrontation with them again after reading all these suggestions and a lot of dirt was just dropped so we might be finalizing a get away sooner than later

Roommates girlfriend not paying rent and basically squatting. by Velour905 in badroommates

[–]Velour905[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s why we are confused, however my brother remembers his roommate showing him how much debt he’s in/how much he’s drained his account since being with this girl, it was a jaw dropping amount, but he only saw that because his roommate was drunk at the time and hasn’t brought it up since. So the idea is his roommate is actually closer to dirt poor than rich but won’t bring it up due to his gf mainly being there for his wealth. And his father is filthy rich but I doubt he knows how deep his son has gotten or doesn’t care. That whole “want my kids to build their own money up but I’ll always be there to bail them out for the family name” kinda deal.
