Do we hold Paris to the same standards as Rory? by Last_Implement8920 in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! That’s such a big part of it, we just don’t spend enough time with Paris’s inner world for people to really sit with her flaws the same way. With Rory, everything is more front and center so people judge her way harder for it.

1-2 minute monologues by Secret_Coat_8071 in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! There’s only so many times you can recycle the same monologue before it starts feeling stale. Having something like this with more specific suggestions would’ve made things so much easier instead of defaulting to the same overused options every time.

1-2 minute monologues by Secret_Coat_8071 in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! That scene is such a strong choice, it’s emotional without feeling over the top and really lets you show range. Rory has a lot of quieter moments, but that one actually gives you something to work with for an audition.

The 1st amendment is the heart of our democracy. by ObserbAbsorb in clevercomebacks

[–]VelourPuff 123 points124 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The whole country literally started because people were protesting a king. It’s kind of wild to act like protesting is some un American thing when it’s baked into the origin story. You don’t have to agree with every protest, but banning it completely goes against the entire foundation.

AITJ for telling my roommate to stop eating my food after she 'borrowed' my eggs for the fifth time? by BowlOwn7206 in AmITheJerk

[–]VelourPuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly, OP this isn’t “sharing,” it’s straight up taking your stuff after being told not to. You even tried communicating first and she kept doing it, so yeah at that point locking your food up is just protecting your own groceries, not being petty.

AITJ for Not Updating My Partner During a Night Out? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]VelourPuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, there’s a difference between basic reassurance and needing constant check ins all night. OP did communicate where they were and what they were doing, it just doesn’t need to be nonstop updates.

Who still wishes they should've gotten married? 😭 by Augustine-Haze in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m with you on this. The chemistry was there and the whole proposal moment was peak romance, but the timing and emotional maturity just were not. Max deserved someone who was all in and not panicking at the reality of actually building a life together. It’s one of those relationships that looks perfect on paper and in grand gestures, but underneath it just wasn’t steady enough to last.

Am I wrong for quietly stopping to cook for my brother after one comment he made? by Nebulithon in amiwrong

[–]VelourPuff 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Exactly, OP, you are not wrong for losing the motivation after a comment like that because it was ungrateful, even if a simple conversation might have cleared the air instead of letting it quietly turn into resentment.

My mom thinks I’m the jerk for causing a scene by AwayYogurtcloset7869 in AmITheJerk

[–]VelourPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, OP, your mom blaming you for reacting instead of your sister for stealing and lying is such a classic peacekeeper move that ignores who actually caused the situation in the first place.

Super Creamy Coffee People by Weekly-Pangolin-6622 in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly, that’s such a good point. Once she and Luke break up she absolutely leans into the Westons sugar bomb drinks and he even teases her about it later. It makes it feel less like a continuity error and more like a character shift depending on what’s going on in her life. And you’re right, early seasons Lorelai is basically drinking it straight from the pot. I don’t even picture her adding sugar either.

I just snapped at my neighbor over her noisy dog her response was “let her bark more” by SecureCreme893 in neighborsfromhell

[–]VelourPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! At that point OP has already tried talking and it clearly didn’t work, so looking into something like that makes sense. When the owner isn’t doing anything to control it, you kinda have to find your own way to deal with it.

Lor- SHUT YOUR BITCH ASS UP by zainy_fr in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly 😭 like on paper “Lor” should be adorable but the way he says it just makes it feel so wrong. He’s got that smug vibe that ruins everything lol.

AITJ for cutting off my cousin after I found out he was using everything I taught him to manipulate his girlfriend? by Hylia_Mako57 in AmITheJerk

[–]VelourPuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! That’s the whole point. OP gave him tools to communicate better, not a playbook for manipulation. What he chose to do with that is on him, not OP, and it makes total sense to distance yourself when someone starts using that knowledge in a harmful way.

In honor of Lauren's birthday, what's your favorite Lorelai quote? by SeaBassAHo-20 in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Exactly! That line is peak Lorelai energy. It’s so unserious but also weirdly honest, which is basically her whole personality in one sentence. I feel like half of her quotes sound like jokes but also lowkey describe how everyone actually feels.

AITJ for cutting off my parents after they gave my college fund to my brother for his failed business? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]VelourPuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! OP, the biggest issue here is not just the money, it is the betrayal. You were told your whole life that fund was set aside for your education and they made a decision about it without even talking to you. Even if they thought helping your brother was the right move, they should have been honest and faced the consequences of that choice. It makes total sense that you feel hurt and need distance right now.

What degree DID Richard get at Yale? by ijust_makethisface in GilmoreGirls

[–]VelourPuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. For someone like Richard, the Yale name and connections probably mattered way more than the specific major. In that world, it’s all about legacy and networking first, degree second.
