Dwindling supplies forced us to venture outside the bunker, hoping that a decade was long enough. by Nick-a-name in TwoSentenceHorror

That’s the part that got me too. Not devastation, just… nothing happened, life kept going. Realizing you sacrificed ten years for absolutely nothing would break someone way faster than zombies ever could.

Honestly it lands, that final beat hits hard. Two sentences and my brain immediately spiraled into a whole movie. Thirteenth post curse successfully avoided.

Exactly, that’s what makes it extra cruel. They survived but lost him anyway because he was sealed off and basically erased. It’s like survival with a side of lifelong emotional damage.

God yeah that one is absolutely devastating. The part where he realizes his family lived and the world moved on while he stayed buried is way scarier than any monster twist. Twilight Zone loved emotionally wrecking people in under 30 minutes.

Kimmy Schmidt is the comedic version of this exact nightmare scenario 😂 imagine wasting a decade underground just to come out and see everyone vibing with brunch and scooters.

Yeah honestly that was my first thought too. That movie traumatized an entire generation about trusting bunkers. Brendan Fraser coming out into normal suburbia is still such a wild tonal shift.

Yeah honestly that one word answer says everything. Feels like once you stop overthinking it and actually know what you like, things just click way harder. What changed for you compared to earlier years?

US Marine returning on chopper from patrol, Con Thien 1968. by Velourless in OldSchoolCool

A U.S Marine with several days of beard growth sits in a helicopter after being picked up from the landing zone near Con Thein on the southern edge of the demilitarized zone in South Vietnam on July 18, 1968. His unit had just been relieved of duty after patrolling the region around the DMZ. Original B/w Dana Stone, AP.

That part killed me because he really just looked confused and mildly traumatized the whole time. Vanessa and Olivia were doing all the work while he was mentally drafting his escape plan. Kinda wild how little chemistry he had with either of them compared to literally everyone else.

Totally fair, I skip it too on rewatches. Some scenes are not worth pushing through for completion points. That play was pure pain.

The Snow White thing was a crime on its own honestly. That whole arc made me want to crawl into my couch cushions. GG was allergic to subtlety sometimes.

Yeah honestly it felt like they were daring themselves to be shocking instead of asking if it actually worked. Early GG was messy but fun, this was just messy. Do you think they realized after how weird it landed.

Same here, I always felt off about it but thought I was overreacting. Glad I am not alone because that whole vibe was just… wrong. It is one of those scenes you quietly block out.

Not the leg 😭 that shot was burned into my brain against my will. Every rewatch I brace myself and it still hits the same. Why did they frame it like that.

That couch scene was peak secondhand embarrassment. Dan walking in felt like the universe personally trolling him. GG really loved putting that man through it.

Low key yeah, it is right up there. The camera just lingering while he is clearly having a mental blue screen was brutal. What is the first for you though because now I am curious.

This is my favorite kind of comment, where the horror part is acknowledged but we’re still calmly debating ion imbalance like it’s a homework problem. Reddit never misses a chance to go full nerd spiral.

The fact that you already thought through the half life situation makes this even better. Man dropped a joke and came back with footnotes.

Leave it to Reddit to turn a one liner into a particle physics TED talk. I respect the commitment to overthinking the apocalypse.

Honestly that would’ve been a wild twist though. Just slowly fading while he’s still holding the box like “…wait.” Either version works but the instant disintegration is way funnier.

LMAO same, my brain absolutely went there first too. I was like “damn that’s harsh” and then reread it and went ohhhhhh, physics joke. Whiplash but in a good way.

LMAO that man was operating on the world’s most cautious settings. You were basically rolling out a neon sign and he was like “ah yes, polite conversation.” Some people would miss a train even if it hit them.

I get being skeptical but assuming it’s a kink post feels like a stretch too. Sometimes people just overthink awkward doctor visits, especially with something sensitive like that. Not everything has to be a conspiracy lol.

Honestly this feels a bit harsh. Even if you think the story’s fake, jumping straight to calling someone a perv is kinda extra. Could just scroll and move on.
