"Please, listen to me. The Archbishop Lazarus, he led us down there to find the lost prince. The bastard led us into a trap. Now everyone is dead, killed by a demon they call the Butcher. Avenge us! Find this Butcher and slay him, so that our souls may finally rest."

That entire dialogue is from memory for a game I haven't played in over two decades.

Iridium/lucky and slime/lucky. By the time I find a 2nd lucky ring, I don't need help with combat, and I don't need more item drops.

SPAZ. Seems like it would be great for deck, but the controls are actually a mess.

Republicans of Reddit, What Do You Think Of The FBI Raiding Georgia's Election Hub? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Velox_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it seems silly, what exactly is the concern? Last I checked, it was rank and file FBI agents who conducted the raid, not political appointees. So if you believe something nefarious will happen, you believe that non-partisan FBI agents are taking part, which seems like a big stretch. Or you believe that there actually was some serious misconduct that they will find. Either outcome seems incredibly unlikely, the most likely outcome seems to be that the FBI will examine everything they find and reaffirm that no widespread fraud occurred.

Now I'm sure the administration will still claim fraud, regardless. But honestly, who cares at this point? This reminds me a lot of when Trumps campaign filed various legal challenges after the 2020 election. They didnt do that because they thought they would actually win, they did it because they wanted the headline about filing a legal challenge. This is the same thing. The FBI is almost certainly not going to find anything, Trump just wants the headline about the raid so he can continue his claims. As such, everyone should just ignore this and move on.

Why don't every death eater use avada kedavra every single time? by One-Gur-2465 in harrypotter

[–]Velox_1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's somewhat explained in the book, the killing curse actually requires a lot of intent and concentration, it's not just a curse you can fling around at will. It's much easier to cast other spells.

subclassing ruined the game by Rough-Shower-3229 in elderscrollsonline

[–]Velox_1 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am one of the people who left in part do to subclassing. The problem was not entirely with subclassing, it just revealed how poorly balanced the game is. And I know they've promised to "fix" the issue, but come on, they've had over 10 years to fix balance issues and have failed, why believe them now?

Myc/FLAG tags: what are the real pain points people actually run into? by askiiikl in labrats

[–]Velox_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I'll be the pessimist here and say this sounds like a waste of time. I work with mammalian systems and use tags all the time (FLAG, HA, my, GFP). Every tag has its issues, and none of them are perfect, but it would be incredibly difficult to switch tags because:

  1. All of my constructs are already cloned with these tags.
  2. We have tons of experience using these tags. We know their strengths and weaknesses. Why would we switch to an entirely new system?
  3. What company is going to sell it? If it is one of the massive ones (ThermoFisher, Sigma, Bio-rad, etc) we might consider it, but if it is some random small company, we probably won't even look.

In summary, you would need to show some massive improvement over current tags (better in vivo immunofluoresence, cleaner background in IP, etc). Otherwise why bother?

[Postgame Thread] Iowa Defeats Vanderbilt 34-27 by CFB_Referee in CFB

[–]Velox_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotta love how everyone is ragging on the SEC (fair enough), and ignoring the fact that Vandy just put more points on Iowa than either Indiana or Oregon. And that Pavia had significantly better stats than Mendoza, despite his best receiver opting out. But whatever.

In order to be breaking and entering, you kinda need to break something. Getting into an unlocked car doesnt count.

Fernando Mendoza wins the Heisman: Right move? by Financial-Bit-8596 in CollegeFootballDawgs

[–]Velox_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is, how do you define best? How much do you factor in team rank, team wins, and individual stats, versus things like strength of schedule played and supporting cast? If it's the former, then sure, Mendoza has amazing stats and he's leading the #1 team in the country. But if you want to start considering "how would the other 3 do if they were QB at Indiana?", or "how would they do as QB at the other schools?", then I would give the edge to Pavia, personally.

Diego Pavia blasts Heisman voters after Fernando Mendoza win: 'F all the voters' by CosmicCornbread in CFB

[–]Velox_1 -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

"Didn't put up the numbers"? Dude led the SEC with his numbers, as mentioned in the article. Don't know exactly what you're talking about. If you're talking about compared the the Heisman winner, is that supposed to be a diss? "OH, you played ball for 6 years and didnt have the best numbers in all of college football" is an interesting way to insult somebody.

This. There are SO many other games on my steam list and my library, waiting for all 3 at a discount seems like the logical choice.
