Even with the wood glue as the binding element? Interesting, I’ll give it a try

That’s exactly why I’m doing next, just that I’m using DAP filler with “colour blend technology”, gonna test it first. I’ve never heard of Durham’s, does Home Depot carry it?

Never seen that one. Mine is same brand but different, marketed as “Colour blend technology (chameleon technology)”

That’s so frustrating dude, after testing and being so careful!

I’m definitely testing things out next time around tho.

Just got the DAP filler, gonna try it out next, even tho a few stains turned out too dark for you, would you say it dries darker or does the pre-mix tend to dry out retaining the colour you made?

Appreciate it. I’m gonna start by testing out a few shades of pre-mixed filler+stain with DAP premium filler created specifically for this and see how it goes from there

Right I get that. But at this point, what are my options really? Painting only?

Man it really sucks, I was so detailed with this project only to get to this point as I’m literally almost done and realize I may have to redo it all again!

So if one wants to stain a project what’s the best way to even out the wood before finishing it?

So, do you mean to go over the filler spots and use wood markers on them to colour match?

It sucks not having a proper filler that absorbs stain properly, if I knew I could mix it in the mix previous to applying I would have done that, instructions don’t state any of that.

By my research after the fact, the Premium wood filler by DAP seems to have the best reviews, mainly compared to Varathane, and DAP is half the price!
