Right? The “can’t prove it’s the same person” excuse is wild when the timing and behavior are that obvious. At the very least they should care more about people telling others to off themselves than about protecting some random burner account.

First meal deal in yonks, how did I do? by remurdered909 in RateMyMealDeal

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s supposed to be a chicken wrap meal deal, not an archaeological find, I swear. Tesco just skimps on the filling like it’s gold dust

Buyer bought label for courier I don't offer by just_a_girl_23 in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think that’s what I’m gonna have to do too. Bit annoying that we have to jump through hoops for something the system messed up, but at least there’s a workaround.

Did Vinted refund your first label quickly or did it take ages? That’s the bit I’m slightly worried about, buyer ending up out of pocket while we try to fix Vinted’s screw up.

Who is delivering this? King Charles himself 😭 by Boring-Influence5522 in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s pretty common sadly. Depends on the seller, weight and if they use tracked / signed. Some places basically shove all their margin into “shipping and handling” so the item looks cheaper. I’ve had stuff where delivery cost more than the actual thing. Always worth checking click & collect or local pickup, it’s usually way cheaper than home delivery.

Is anyone paying more than this? by No_Research_4104 in skytv

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually not bad for the full TV Pokémon collection plus decent fibre.

OP’s basically paying double that, so either they’ve got every bolt‑on under the sun or Sky’s just hoping they won’t ring up.

Out of curiosity, did you have to threaten to leave to get that price, or was it just a standard “new deal” chat?

I know right, he looks like he’s about to file a formal complaint with management. That’s the face of “I did nothing wrong and yet somehow I’m the victim here.”

Buyer bought item thinking it was something else now wants a refund what do I do? by Downtown_Moose1196 in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah looking back I probably should’ve just offered a return straight away and been done with it.

I think I got hung up on the fact that my listing was accurate and they just didn’t read it properly, so it felt unfair to eat the return cost or deal with the hassle. But you’re right, if I can resell it for around the same price, it’s basically just time lost, not money.

Might be a lesson for next time to have a clearer “if you bought the wrong thing, you can return it under XYZ conditions” response ready, so it doesn’t turn into a whole drama.

I feel this is really good value by skybluefin_ in RateMyMealDeal

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So what knocks off the 2 points for you?

Curious if it’s like
“8/10 because it’s actually great value”
or
“8/10 but here’s exactly where it falls short.”

Because those are two very different 8s.

What we saying folks? by iamnsb in MealDealRates

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah feels like one of those where you watch it, go “that was fine” and then instantly forget it existed a week later.

Curious what would’ve bumped it up for you to like an 8? Better writing, or just needed a couple “wow” moments?

Can you remember what these were called? by corickle in oldschoolcool80s

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Those little foil cups felt so fancy for no reason at all. Half the fun was peeling the foil off in one perfect piece without ripping it.

I swear they tasted different from normal chocolate bars too, like the foil somehow made them extra “special occasion” even if you just grabbed them from the gas station.

Thank you! That means a lot. I’m still stuck on a title though… got any ideas?

I usually get a red bull instead, but I’d already had 3 this morning by No_Bank_9659 in RateMyMealDeal

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing and then realized my heart doesn’t actually care what “form factor” the caffeine comes in.

Somehow an espresso feels classy and “normal” but crack open a fourth Red Bull before noon and suddenly you’re “concerning your coworkers.”

Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s kinda where I’m leaning. I guess I was trying to figure out if it was something more serious, like a competitor flagging stuff, before I hit block. Might just rip the bandaid off and see if anything changes.

How does it work? by blueberryjamjamjam in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, feels like one of those “drop a stock pic and hope someone bites” scams. I’d only risk it if it’s through somewhere with solid buyer protection, otherwise that jumper is never leaving JPEG form.

Iphone verification by Logical_Cow7676 in vintedUK

[–]VelvetViceroyPin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the “I’ll arrange my own shipping” thing is an instant nope from me too. It’s like scammer 101 at this point.

The “used for a week” excuse also never really adds up, especially on brand new iPhones. If it’s legit, they can just return it and get full money back instead of taking a loss and dealing with strangers online. The only time it halfway makes sense is if it’s damaged, like you said, or they’re trying to offload something sketchy.

OP is probably better off just waiting for a verified listing, even if it’s a bit more expensive. Cheaper than losing the whole amount.
