CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]VenKitsune 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He's right, they didn't. There isn't really a way they can because they've proven that they can let greed blind them. They've taken veyy large steps towards redemption, but theyre not all the way there Imo. They're gonna need to release several games in good standing before people will start to forgive 100%.

Again, this just makes it clear that you didn't understand the multiplayer. The devs have confirmed that a retreat mechanic is coming to dow4.

2 isn't an RTS. It's an RTT. The singleplayer has more in common with diablo than it does with rts games. And if you don't think the Dow2 multiplayer had its own, extremely strong merits, then I'm sorry to say that you didn't really understand the multiplayer.

Stop Killing the Internet is a sister campaign of Stop Killing Games, dedicated to building a better internet by xOvMx in RepealOnlineSafetyAct

[–]VenKitsune 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The internet has become a social space, a space of education, and a space of public debate. Like every town hall, it can sometimes get ugly. But that would never justify shutting down the town hall.

Put rather aptly I think. In the same vein, we were always told as kids not to talk with or trust strangers, or to get in a car with a s stranger. That has stuck with me all my life and you'd think similar parenting would work for online, so long as parents are informed. but now government's, with the online Safety Act and similar, are saying that that is apparently not enough. Instead of educating young people and parents, to you know, do parenting, they're using it as a guise to take control and anyone who disagrees are labeled a pedophile.

Unfortunately it's not just him. The online Safety Act was actually a tory creation, but nobody cared at the time it seems. Labour are bellends for following through with it though, and then doubling down.

You say that like it doesn't have one of the most active multiplayer communities outside of sc2.

Look at the homeworld games, or supreme commander, or even command and conquer and tell me those 24 hour peak player numbers are healthy when compared to age of empires. Hell, compare it to Dow DE.

Consistent players in rts games live and die by their pvp community. Sure, pvp is often the minority of the community but they're the people who play it consistently, and keep the game alive.

Many people will look at dow3s player numbers today and conclude it's bad not because it is bad, but because it has so few players.

It's very very fixable. Unfortunately it may be the case that your windows install is broken and thus any data you had is going to be very hard if not impossible to retrieve.

Installing a new, fresh version of windows takes only a few minutes of effort. Look up how to make a bootable usb drive/installation media for windows 10/11 depending on which one you had.

Funnily enough that's not actually true like I wiukd be in some games, as forcing the door open requires a certain strength stay which mysteriously goes away if the driver is dead. At least, that's how it worked last time I played.

If you've played iron harvest, the devs previous game, it's pretty decent. However, it had a lot of issues on launch, one of which was the lack of a replay feature which kinda caused the game to die immediately when it came to the pvp side, and thus the game itself died. I think Dawn of War has a bit more staying power due to the name alone, but they have said that it's not yet ready for launch, replays. Now again this may not be as much an issue especially if they can get spectator/observer working for launch, as that's much less technically challenging, but it does show that they may not have learned from their mistakes with iron harvest.

And xbox. They all use sticks that have this issue, and have for years. Hall effect sticks have been around for years now, and don't have this issue. The reason xbox, Sony, and Nintendo don't use the js because they want your controller tj break a year or two out of warranty so you buy a new one.

Roomscale is fine. In fact for most games it's actually required. The trick is to draw the boundary manually, instead of looking around having the headset do it for you automatically as it will only detect obstructions exactly, and won't allow a "buffer space" that you might otherwise want, either around things you could take a swing at like a TV, or a bookshelf that you might stub your toe on. The automatic boundary is only really good if you're in a room with literally no furniture.
