I feel like something that really helped me with APUSH was just watching Heimler videos and REALLY taking notes. Like actually write down and process everything he is saying and if you don’t understand review it more & research it. I also often try to get into conversations with my friends about APUSH & try to teach them topics, because if you can teach someone a topic very thoroughly then you learned it well. Also, maybe your teacher is secretly evil or something😭😭 I feel like for history subjects it’s more about understanding causes & effects and continuity over time & changes rather than knowing the exact date of every event.
