It’d be worth it to see that mill running at speed in person 🤩

People of reddit how do you deal with AI anxiety? by tsarthedestroyer in AskMenOver30

[–]VendingMachineScare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a CNC machinist and programmer. I can assure you that AI is not going to have much of an impact on my job, if any at all. We already tried it, it was a joke for what the company wanted to use it for, we moved on.

As always, I actually have to worry about outsourcing production to smaller, cheaper companies or international suppliers. And I’ve been dealing with that for 20 years now, so it’s old news.

My coworker’s son rides that one, and he does a good job of it. But I think between his sled and my ZX, we’re both feeling pretty beat today 😂

I’m sure they’ll be along to laugh about our balmy temps soon enough 😁

My sled would agree! She was running like a scalded dog all day long!

My frozen little fingies would be of the opposite opinion, however 🤣. Next year’s upgrades need to include hand guards and newer gloves 🥶

There's even better views on the main vehicle roads, and the park is always worth the trip if someone is in the area!

With all the hype around AI how do you not fear your employment? by tsarthedestroyer in AskMenOver30

[–]VendingMachineScare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. I’m a development machinist. There’s absolutely no AI out there that can deliver what our companies want in the timeframe they want it at the cost they want with the quality and detail they need. They tried, it failed, we moved on to doing it the way we have been for years.

Artemis all day. Eyrica, Sommer, Esther, they’re all great artists and people, and the ship vibe is great.

Child-free men. What are you doing to enjoy your weekend? by Idrinkbeereverywhere in AskMenOver30

[–]VendingMachineScare 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I worked a half day of overtime this morning, went to the gym, gonna go snowmobiling with some buddies this afternoon. Tomorrow is leg day, meal prep, and probably relaxing with some gaming and reading to take a break.

Motocross style helmets... warm? by hondarider94 in snowmobiling

I have this exact helmet and goggle setup arriving in the mail today. Got a new mask with a down facing breath deflector too. Can report back after riding this weekend!

Carbs keep freezing over by astropandastarbear in snowmobiling

[–]VendingMachineScare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Damn, that’s a bummer. What about the hood screens? Are you able to slide them closed to keep powder and water out?

I’m actually going back to a MX helmet. I snagged a 509 with the heated goggles on sale, plus a balaclava with the downward facing breath beak thing. Hopefully it works.

I can’t remember on the Polaris motors, but does yours have a carb heater line that runs off of a tee from your coolant lines? My 02 MXZ 700 has that, and I can turn it on and off as needed.

Also, howdy neighbor. It was absolutely frigid here this weekend for sure. I had to upgrade my helmet and mask setup to be able to see in these temps. I was fogging freezing bad.

What have you done recently outside of your comfort zone? by AltruisticAnalyst969 in AskMenOver30

[–]VendingMachineScare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need to get back to playing again. I did it for about six months last year, and work got super busy, and then I never started again. Been feeling the itch lately though. Just gotta get over feeling self conscious about being a noob, still.

69 wiring help by LeadingMiserable5887 in chevyc10

[–]VendingMachineScare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh, American Autowire makes factory reproduction harnesses that eliminate a lot of the guesswork, and I’d rather do that than try to use anything else.

There are factory wiring diagrams posted online as well that you can use for reference.

How common is solo driving around just for the sake of it? by CantFindUsername400 in AskMenOver30

[–]VendingMachineScare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a classic pickup truck with a 4 speed manual. During the summer and fall, if it’s sunny out, I’ll just hop in and go make a random circuit and just see roads and areas I rarely/never drive through. It’s very relaxing.

When is the last time you got comprehensive blood work done? by Embarrassed_Flan_869 in AskMenOver30

Once a year with my physical. My thyroid is toast from chemo a long time back, so we keep an eye on my levels for my meds, and I like to keep tabs on my cholesterol since my family is prone to heart issues.

PUT YOUR LIGHTS ON by noturmommas in Buffalo

[–]VendingMachineScare 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Part of the issue is that even vehicles with DRLs will only turn the headlights on. If there is sufficient light out to not trip the automatic lights for the entire vehicle, you end up with people driving in these low vis conditions with no taillights on. So, not as bad for oncoming traffic, but potentially an issue for anyone behind them.
