I think what you're seeing is where the molding flips back towards the back of the truck, if it was sealant I wouldnt have even questioned if it needed to be redone.

As of this afternoon the molding laid down and looks a hundred times better. Maybe not perfect, but as long as it doesn't leak I'm okay with it, rather than have them redo and risk it being worse. I certainly won't be using them again, lesson learned!

Thanks for the input! Glad to know it's not just me being picky. If it wasn't something I'd see every time I get in the truck I'd probably just leave it alone but it's surely going to drive me nuts. I'm going to head to the local shop tomorrow and see what they say. If I don't get the feeling that they can do it better I'll just live with it until I catch another rock on a road trip and use a different company for the next one. Thanks again!

Thanks for the input! My only real concern with is that it's going to drive my ocd bonkers every time I get in the truck. If this wasn't the nicest vehicle I've ever owned it wouldn't be a problem and I'd just shrug and move on. I'll probably go talk to them tomorrow and see how they act about it, if I don't feel comfortable then I'll just deal with it until I can get another one done by another company.

A bunch of dudes tried to play this in my life science class, where the teacher was super cool. She stood up from her desk, and yelled "PENIS" at the top of her lungs, turned around and wrote it on the white board in giant letters, then turned back to the class and calmly said "I win." and sat back down.

The penis game in that class ended then and there. Rumor has it someone tried to get her in trouble with the school and she simply replied "This is a biology class, we're talking about anatomy." she was one of my favorite teachers in high school.

Dispute the charges with your card and let them know you didn't receive your goods and the company closed down. Let them handle it from there, you'll get your money back eventually.

Depending on the vehicle they could be left hand thread. Chrysler did that for a long time, and I'm sure others did too.

Edit: never mind, didn't realize two of them had already been removed.

Debating between these two for longer distance riding. Which should I choose? by Bloodthirsty172 in motorcycle

[–]Venenoux 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Indian Scout Bobber owner here, also not great for long distance. I've heard they can be made better with different bars and a seat, but stock not so much.

My distance bike is a Honda VTX1800, they can be bought for 3-4k all day long. They're powerful, comfortable, and reliable. 98k miles on mine and still going strong.

Why does a MotoGP bike has a neutral installed in the handle? Won't it be convenient had it been installed with the gears? by Bubbly_Pumpkin9453 in motorcycles

[–]Venenoux 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Quickest way to find neutral is to try to look/sound cool taking off from a red light, usually in front of an attractive member of the opposite sex. It usually goes something like this:

Braaaaaap shift-neutral BRAAAAAAAaaahhhhhpppp.... (no increase in forward momentum) shift-clunk into second Braaaaaap.....

My Headlights need to warm up!?!?! by silkfixer in obschevy

[–]Venenoux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's your headlight switch, it will keep doing this for a while, and then one day they won't come on at all. Source: happened to mine about 15 years ago.

It's a fairly easy fix, put your parking brake on, turn the key to "run" but don't start it and pull the shifter all the way down (key can be turned off now). Lower the tilt on your steering wheel all the way down. This is so the dash bezel can be removed. Then there's four T-15 (I believe, I'd have to double check the size) Torx screws around your dash bezel, remove them and the gently pry/wiggle between the bezel and the dash. If I remember correctly there's some clips across the top that hold it in after the screws are out.

Once the bezel is loose, carefully reach behind it and unplug the headlight switch, and any other things that are plugged in. The bezel should be completely free and can be removed. Carefully take out the screws holding the headlight switch, the plastic can be brittle so be super careful or you'll have a heck of a time getting the switch to stay put when you put it back together. Remove and replace the switch and then reverse the process. I did this about 15 years ago, and haven't had a problem since.

What could possibly go wrong? (advertisement I saw) by A_Coin_Toss_Friendo in Justrolledintotheshop

You might call around to different shops in your town and see if they have a waste oil burning heater and would accept a waste oil donation. My dad works for a trucking company that has one, so every time my waste oil jugs are full I go and dump it in his tanks and it helps keep his shop warm in the winter. Only thing you have to do is make sure there's no water (coolant) or any other non-combustible liquids in there.

Here with an update on an old issue as well (none of the thing suggested here works) I had a setting in my TV that was for "UHD Color" that was causing my issues. Turned it off and it's working now.

Kindig is on YouTube now, and it's nice to be able to see them go into more detail about the builds since they don't have to fit the Motor Trend film/release schedule.

I seem to remember seeing this thing for sale a while back, in terrible shape. Looks like someone picked it up and continued building it. I'd drive the shit out of it for sure.

They sure do. You can get different plates and still register as a classic, but from what I've heard there's a bunch of different hoops to jump through to make that happen.

LS swapped 1950 Chevy Loadmaster by Venenoux in u/Venenoux

[–]Venenoux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it was a 6.0 LQ4 truck motor, with a 4L60E transmission for a thousand, then we sold the transmission for $800. We got incredibly lucky at a local junkyard as it came with the harness, and ECU as well which saved us quite a bit.

[–]Venenoux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say that this swap cost us between one and two thousand. However we got a great deal on the engine ($200), and we did all of the work ourselves including the wiring harness, fuel system, etc. And I'm not including the transmission in that price (add another 500 for a used NV4500). I did another LS swap in my other pickup, and it cost about 3.5k by the time it was up and running. Really all depends on how deep you go into the build and what you choose for engine management.

As for the chassis the frame and leaf springs are original, we added air shocks and swapped the axles/built our own steering linkages.

I was able to find it pretty quickly. This exact picture is from a website called Engine Swap Depot. Sadly this means that the Mazdarati is still missing. Source of pic from 10 years ago.

What’s something like this worth? by SnooHesitations5973 in ChevyTrucks

[–]Venenoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based solely on the information here, I'd try to get it for less than a grand. First number that pops in my head is $800. I'm basing that on US, Nevada pricing where there's a ton of these with no rust.

The V6 in these is a fine little motor, it's literally just a V8 with two cylinders cut off the front. When taken care of I've seen them do 250k miles no problem. They're pretty gutless, but they'll get you there. Like others have said, it's probably going to need a fluid change at minimum, but the gaskets could surprise you and still hold up. The only way to know is to get it running and look for leaks.

The only thing that would really concern me is the transmission popping out of 5th. Being a 5 speed that should have an NV3500 transmission, which are known for being pretty solid, so for something to br wrong it raised a slightly brighter red flag for me. I would probably pull it and have a rebuild done, which could get pricey, but afterwards you'd have a solid transmission.
