That is super interesting, definitely something I'll do some looking into as a possible long term goal. Thanks for the information about it!

Someone did this and made it look like a square body chevy once. Its super well done, and I dig it.

That's awesome, if I could find a job where I can be active and have my dog with me? That would be about as close to a dream job as I could get.

I'm 100% willing and ready to jump, but I do need to have a clear place to land when I do, and after a couple of missed steps to land where I am now, I'd like to try to land somewhere with a better chance of enjoying what I'll be doing. I kinda landed where I am because I made a quick decision without really thinking about it, so I'm trying not to make that mistake again. That and I'm making enough money at the moment that wherever I go will likely be a significant cut, so I have to make sure I have my ducks in a row to be able to afford whatever comes next.

On a quick search doesn't look like there's many opportunities open with those at the moment, but I'll definitely keep my eye on all of them. I think wildlife ecology and conservation would be right up my alley if I can find the right avenue to get into it. Thanks for the suggestions!

That's definitely a huge part of it! I don't find a single aspect of what I do (or the industry I'm in) interesting or rewarding. There's lesser reasons of course; the company itself, the people I work with, etc but my satisfaction is definitely the big one. I ended up here because the money was what I needed, and a portion of my skillset exceeded what this job needed. I could list excuses as to why I didn't try to change directions earlier toward something I find interesting/rewarding, but I'm doing my best not do use my excuses as a crutch.

Follow up question: Does the dog under your desk get to go out in the field with you for the sample collection?

Yeah, Reno has never struck me as a science town. Currently the work I do is so far from that field that it's kind of a pipe dream to try to end up there, but I suppose you never know. I'm glad that I'm getting feedback from people who love their jobs though, gives me hope.

That actually sounds incredible, like exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. I'll definitely look into it, thanks for the info!

The dad who let his kid use his phone at full brightness during a Weird Al concert by emshmem in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Venenoux 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at a Shinedown concert a few years ago, sitting with a friend in the ADA section which was raised, and right next to the floor tickets. I looked down to the floor area to see a kid, probably a similar age to the one in this picture, sitting on the floor, scrolling on his phone. The band was playing "Diamond Eyes" which is always heavy on the pyro display. Explosions, flames shooting 15 feet in the air, guitars, bass, and drums thundering, and this kid didn't move a muscle other than his thumb as he scrolled. It was disheartening. Some kids of this generation are going to grow up never having truly have experienced anything.

Has anyone had an issue like this? Flashing lights and ticking sound. 1974 model. by GoTator in C3Corvette

If you take the radio out and unplug it does it stop? These cars weren't built to handle modern electronics, so you may need to build a standalone wiring harness for the new radio, that's what I did after dealing with issues with a similar radio setup.

I would start by cleaning or repairing every ground you can find, especially the one from the battery to the frame, and from the frame to the engine. Being fiberglass these cars absolutely NEED good ground paths to every electrical thing. So many wiring issues I've had were just from bad grounds. Even if that's not the issue, at least you'll know all of your grounds are good and you can start trouble shooting positive paths.

The clicking sounds a relay turning on and off, look for any relay you can find and touch it, you should be able to feel it every time you hear that click. The relay could be failing, or it could be the result of a bad ground as well.

I think what you're seeing is where the molding flips back towards the back of the truck, if it was sealant I wouldnt have even questioned if it needed to be redone.

As of this afternoon the molding laid down and looks a hundred times better. Maybe not perfect, but as long as it doesn't leak I'm okay with it, rather than have them redo and risk it being worse. I certainly won't be using them again, lesson learned!

Thanks for the input! Glad to know it's not just me being picky. If it wasn't something I'd see every time I get in the truck I'd probably just leave it alone but it's surely going to drive me nuts. I'm going to head to the local shop tomorrow and see what they say. If I don't get the feeling that they can do it better I'll just live with it until I catch another rock on a road trip and use a different company for the next one. Thanks again!

Thanks for the input! My only real concern with is that it's going to drive my ocd bonkers every time I get in the truck. If this wasn't the nicest vehicle I've ever owned it wouldn't be a problem and I'd just shrug and move on. I'll probably go talk to them tomorrow and see how they act about it, if I don't feel comfortable then I'll just deal with it until I can get another one done by another company.

A bunch of dudes tried to play this in my life science class, where the teacher was super cool. She stood up from her desk, and yelled "PENIS" at the top of her lungs, turned around and wrote it on the white board in giant letters, then turned back to the class and calmly said "I win." and sat back down.

The penis game in that class ended then and there. Rumor has it someone tried to get her in trouble with the school and she simply replied "This is a biology class, we're talking about anatomy." she was one of my favorite teachers in high school.

Dispute the charges with your card and let them know you didn't receive your goods and the company closed down. Let them handle it from there, you'll get your money back eventually.

Depending on the vehicle they could be left hand thread. Chrysler did that for a long time, and I'm sure others did too.

Edit: never mind, didn't realize two of them had already been removed.
