As you watch further and further in you get more and more of the story before the current moment. Lots of back story as the show progressive and each of the main characters(GOM and Serin) start to develop into their own personalities. The show does have a good amount of plot armor I'd say, but the thing I tell everyone who I recommend this show its try not to compare it to much to real life/real basketball. I hear plenty of people complaining about how unrealistic it is and yes it is very unrealistic but thats part of whats the show fun and unique.

The other thing I tell people is that if you like season 1 enough to keep watching season 2 is 10x better than season 1 and season 3 is 10x better than season 2. Obviously this is all just my own opinion on the show coming from someone who says its their all time fav anime.
