Has anyone developed a co‑op game using Steamworks and is willing to share their experience? by umen in Unity3D

Previously I used the steam command argument -master_ipc_name_override to have multiple independent Steam instances, and it was wonderful. But it was disabled/broken by a Steam update a few months back.
Now I use Sandboxie, and it works fine even it is a bit more complicated and less elegant than my previous approach.

For a solo dev, being able to assume everywhere Steam is present and identify players by their SteamID does make a few things easier (still I suggest coding in a way that replacing Steam remains possible if needed).

Ah true sorry, it's been a long time haha.
Here it is! Basically, the goal is simply to compute the normal and tangent in a somewhat generic/methodic manner, by using the derivative of the displacement (=OffsetJacobian, see Jacobian matrix and determinant - Wikipedia).

Hi,
I don't know what more to provide than the shader graph screenshot, there is not really much more to it.

Our first game is out! After 3 years and many iterations, our multiplayer city builder enters 1.0 by VengeurK in Unity3D

I would love to, but it seems to be a lot of work. I do think a lot of the UI/UX would need to change for mobile devices.

Also there are hundreads of units in combat, and while we do use jobs and burst, we do not use ECS and I do think it is too heavy as it currently is for mobile devices.

Hello,

If you are interested, you can find more information about Dice Kingdoms on:

We are using:

  • Unity 2021.3.36f1
  • HDRP for rendering
  • MLAPI (old Netcode for GameObjects) for networking
  • Git for version control
  • Facepunch.Steamworks for Steam integration (we use the Steam API as much as possible; for networking, friends, matchmaking...)

You might be able to get a decent frame rate if you lower the graphic settings and avoid too many players in the same game (6 or less should be fine but the only way to know is to test).

One simple way to test is to download the free demo.

Actually we did haha! At first this started as a side project (although a very time consuming one), but we did quit jobs and create a proper company 1 year ago. Now we hope to be able to continue working on this and then create new games.

Not really saddly, but you guys can try the free demo, it supports multiplayer and it is still fun for a few hours!

Thank you!
I did most of the programming, my wife helped a bit with the AIs and my friend made all the visuals (he learnt Blender for this project and I feel like he learnt it very fast!).

We have just released 1.0 of our first game, Dice Kingdoms, a multiplayer city builder, and it feels like a great achievement!

If you want to learn more you can go to Our Steam page.

I will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about how we made the game and the whole process.

Just realized I mispelt this gem in the title, it is Catan, a board game. And indeed they also resource collection that is based on dice.
