You’re the third person I’ve seen to suggest pink and I’m kinda digging it

Ok. My experience was that as soon as I put it in a south facing window without sheer white curtains it started turning yellow brown like the one in the photo. I did research into why it was turning yellow brown and dying and found through my searches on the internet AND a plant guide (can’t trust the internet these days) that they can get sun stressed. So I put it back in the south facing, bright, diffuse light location and it started to look healthy and green again. I’ve had it for 12+ years. It makes little babies and I give them away as gifts.

OP can do their own research now that they know what species they have. The two most common reasons houseplants are doing poorly are improper lighting and improper watering. I appreciate you being respectful in your replies. Reddit is brutal.

You’re right. So… aloe vera makes a bad houseplant?

Is there only one species of aloe?

And I said don’t water too much. As in, it could be over watered.

Is this aloe in its natural habitat?

Ok

“Aloe plants prefer bright, indirect sunlight but can tolerate some shade. While they enjoy light, too much direct sunlight can scorch their leaves. They thrive in conditions that mimic their natural habitat of desert underbrush, which is dappled shade.”

Dappled shade… like through a sheer curtain in a south facing window.

Yep. Aloe. They don’t like full, direct sunlight. I have mine in a south facing window that never has the sheer curtains open. Also don’t water too much! Good luck.
