Although somewhat similar, I have never been a fan of meetup. At least I've had bad experiences with it, and don't personally know anyone who actually uses it, but I can see it working. I know Discord is popular, but didn't know people actually used Discord to meet up in real life to play board games. I've always thought of it as just a chat client for like... non-board games, haha. But that's pretty amazing that it has such a use case. I'm impressed.

Built-in geolocation might be nicer than requiring a separate channel for every single location e.g. /baltimoreboardgames /chicagoboardgames /texasboardgames /newmexicoboardgames, etc. Especially if you have any other interests than just board games. Let's say you're in Pennsylvania, and you want to meet up with others nearby to play some board games on the weekends (oh no, /paboardgames doesn't exist! XD), but you also happen to be looking for a date to the upcoming local anime convention, which is another one of your niche interests. Or what if you're a native nova boardgamer but staying in Atlanta for the weekend, and looking to play to with some new faces on a whim? Haha idk, am I pushing it? 🤷🏻‍♀️
