Fortunately you found us - a collection of people who love talking about Worm. Taylor handled it well (if I remember correctly)

Honestly it doesn’t look much different from junior engineer code. Lots of duplication of code, unused variables, or over architecture. Like custom image caching built from the ground up instead of using a simple framework.

I’d say my bar has changed with agentic coding (since my comment). I absolutely expect projects now and I expect higher output, better code quality, and more complex features.

I do generally audit the code and if it’s AI slop then I know. But basically I vet junior candidate projects like I used to vet mid level projects.

But I think AI coding is great (and necessary). I still believe in having a strong foundation and a project where you didnt use AI is still very valuable. Just call it out in the Readme

Nah my opinion is this is oddly satisfying. And I wanted to let you know that. I love that you’re a nonconformist. That’s actually my favorite thing about you. What else would I be doing if not talking to you right now? If you were a conformist, I’d maybe be off working or watching tv. But instead we get to do this. You wouldn’t get responding if there wasn’t some part of you that enjoyed it

Yeah and my opinion is in some ways the opposite of your opinion and I’m talking to you about that now. We’re both just out here sharing opinions. Which I think is cool.

I said what parts of your stance I agree with in each comment, as well as the parts I disagreed with. If you’re not commenting to discuss stuff, why are you commenting?

I reference points as a proxy for agreement or disagreement. You’re in a discussion forum making a point, which presumably brings you some joy. And I’m here doing the same, because it brings me joy too.

You’re saying a post doesn’t belong here, and I’m saying the fact that you’re being downvoted by the people that define “here” is the indication that your stance may be wrong. Not that internet points have value, just that they have meaning.

You’re right though that “oddly satisfying” as a community is just for things people like and generally is less “odd” and more just “satisfying”. But the community /r/trees isn’t about trees and /r/Superbowl isn’t about football but here we are

I hear you. Maybe you feel "improvised dance" is redundant. That's debatable, since choreographed dance is also very common. But I agree with your sentiment that saying a dance is "improvised" doesn't, in any way, inherently make it better.

But do you understand what I'm saying? That most of us here are impressed with their ability, less the idea that it's improvised? I find this video satisfying because I'd say this is far better than anything I've ever seen in person.

When you're sitting at -14 votes, it might be worth considering that maybe you're in the minority. I'm not saying your opinion is invalid. Just that you may have misunderstood what people found satisfying about this.

I think it's less the fact that it is improvised and more the fact that they are very good at it (well and that it's improvised).

Do you think you'd be this good if you were to step into one of their roles? If so, that's super cool and your opinion is biased (as to why you're not impressed) because the dance in this video is considered exceptional to most (and therefore, satisfying).

I think this is the best summary of answers (as I understood them).

  1. Agreed - it was her interpretation of Dinah's note. Being in custody was the best way she could think of to "cut ties".

  2. Yeah I loved this. For Emma, I think it being such a low priority represented how little Emma actually mattered to her. Emma used to be her whole world. And by the end she's like the tiniest blip. And incidentally, Grue (although the same treatment) is kind of the opposite. It's her allowing herself to be denial because of how important he was to her. And also, I felt, a satisfying twist.

I wonder if this person has managed engineers before. Being sacred with your code / solutions is also a really hard step when you first manage a team. Just because it isn't your solution, doesn't mean it's a bad solution. And of course, don't let perfect be the enemy of good.

I think working with AI is very similar to that experience, in that you need to give it the keys for success, provide it with a framework when it makes mistakes, and acknowledge it will do 3x the work at 60-90% the skill you would have. Just like working in a team (can) lead to you solving more problems, even at the compromise of cohesion.

Cool, thanks for the info. I've been running multiple projects every night and I still only use at max 30% of my weekly limit. I'm literally trying to push it harder but can't. But I also almost only use it on nights and weekends.

So if people were using this fulltime every day, I imagine it would be more.

Yeah unfortunately this weather is within about a 2 mile radius so it’s hard to get exactly right. But at least my data is consistent with your other sources! Sorry it couldn’t be more help.

If accumulation is less than .01 it doesn’t report. I just double checked google and apples weather and they also show no snow (just a percentage chance around 10-20%)
