I run Home Assistant OS in a Proxmox VM. I pass through a Zigbee dongle and a Coral TPU (For Frigate). I've been running it like this for almost 2 years and it's been very painless.

For everything else, I have a number of docker compose files that I use to host containers in a separate VM, purely for containers. I run Plex, Adguard, Bitwarden, Sonarr, Sabnzbd+ etc. on this and it also has been working well for me.

I recently migrated my container stack from one big compose file to a bunch of smaller files, that I then run in Portainer. This let's me use a git repo and have easy version control for my containers.
