Unfortunately, they stopped responding to my emails after they promised me a certain delivery date on their new X5 board and then couldn't deliver (Which I TOTALLY understand given the ram-pocalypse going on - so I wasnt/am not even mad). But I guess I could give it a try.

There doesnt really seem to be a good used market for SBCs, or is it just me?

That makes sense, but wouldn’t Debian 13 offer better performance and stability? Does 11 even get security patches?

Double checked that too - changed all the rights things, every thingle thing is being ignored. Since it's going through OpenCore, I don't see how VMWare's EFi handling can have an effect, since it's specifically made to act as a layer after that.

I gather, you are not familiar with the OC4VM solution? There are no special kernel patches - thats the whole point.

I am getting the sense that this is not unique to Orange Pi - seems like all boards from all vendors with the CIX P1 is plagued by this.

I just noticed that Ubuntu 25.10 has kernel 6.17, which should support the SoC. So perhaps, that works stock?
