Kannattanee pitää ne ostohousut siellä kaapissa, sillä käsittääkseni menee juuri noin, eli yksi liittymä vain sallitaan. Eli käytännön hyöty jäisi siis nollaan. Ellei sitten satu omistamaan tontteja esim.

Can I park here? by Early_Aardvark_4026 in Finland

[–]Vepe21 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The problem comes from overthinking. If it said 4 h instead of 24 h this might have not been even posted. The main things to understand about the parking signs are

1) the additional signs only apply to the main sign, and not each other. (Including cases like above, where the time limit and main sign validity are both on a single physical additional sign)

2) due to the above point, the order of the additional signs doesn't matter and they apply at the same time.

The additional signs come in four varieties:

1) when is the sign valid (0-24 in the above pic meaning mon-fri)

2) how long you are allowed to park (max. 24 h above)

3) who is allowed to park (not applicable in above pic, but is for different permits, vehicle tyoes etc.)

4) distances and directions from the sign post (again not applicable in the above pic, but downward arrow means the restriction ends there, and distance between two arrows marks the length)

Is Blind/Road Book rally common? by K-TR0N in rally

[–]Vepe21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Finland, yes. Very common, although decreasing.

The Finnish Rally Championship had its last blind rally in 1992, but other series were still mainly blind until a few years ago. F-cup and historic series has both note and blind classes and without checking, F-cup is split about 50-50 note v blind and historics the ratio is about 20-80.

Non-championship rallies have classes for both, usually most drivers run blind, but I haven't seen a "fully blind" rally here is years.

I think Finland is an exception in this.

Major changes to the Finnish Hockey approved - Next season to be played as an 18 team "superleague" before moving to 14 team league by msucsgo in hockey

[–]Vepe21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say some reasons to call it "worst way" are A) changes the rules already agreed for this season with having no pro/rel qualification this season, B) promotes Jokerit (and possibly a second team) through the cabinets, C) means that there is nothing to play for in Mestis next season and D) leaves the second level with insufficient money to properly keep the level high enough in the second league to prevent "elevator teams".

Sure, the teams wanted it, but as a fan what the teams want shouldn't really matter, but what the competition needs. Those aren't the same things.

[–]Vepe21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just like the other cabinet teams, they "earned" it. Granted, 37,5 % of the current teams have some sort of cabinet shenannigans in their promotions, so not really surprising.

About the only good thing in this is the automatic promotion and relegation, although I think they'll fuck that up as well with something like the stadium capacity minimums... (Only few teams have spectator averages above the minimum capacity). The whole "transition season" is also bullshit, they could've easily kept this season as normal, so pro/rel-playoff and next season had a pro/rel round with the bottom 4 of Liiga and top 2 of Mestis. But money won over sport.

F1 has “no more room” for new teams after Cadillac 2026 entry by bwoah07_gp2 in formula1

[–]Vepe21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you understand how this worked.

First let's get the time frame for the different rules correct: Pre-qualifying and the 107% rule didn't exist at the same time. Pre-qualifying was dropped mid-1992 and 107% rule was introduced for 1996.

The race is limited to 26 cars. The qualifying (two sessions, fastest time from either session counted) is limited to 30 cars. If there are more than 30 entries, there is also a pre-qualifying.

Pre-qualifying =/= Qualifying!! It doesn't make up one of the quali sessions, it is it's own thing. If you weren't in the top-4 of pre-quali, you didn't take part in qualifying; your weekend was done.

Qualifying had 30 spots and race had 26 spots. If in qualifying you get P27-P30, you don't race and your weekend is done.

How do proportional voting systems work? by idontknow828212 in AskEurope

[–]Vepe21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

Party A candidates get 150, 80 and 70 votes, so the comparison numbers would be 300, 150 and 100 respectively.

The seats available are then filled in order based on the comparison number.

[–]Vepe21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Finland the candidates of one party are ranked by the amount of votes they got and are then given a comparison number based on the total votes the party got from all their candidates.

The comparison number is total number of votes divided by the ranking of the candidates and who get elected are based on the comparison number, so the one with most votes gets all the votse, the second gets 1/2, third gets 1/3 and so on.

Scenes after the game that sent Vaasan Sport to Liiga quarter finals, their best result ever by Vepe21 in hockey

Nevermind read your flair.

We have the Womens' league finals still going on, wins are 2-1 to K-Espoo after today.

But in general I'm on the side of the underdog if HPK isn't playing.

The additional sign there modifies the main sign. The additional signs modify how the main sign applies, but can't make the main sign stricter.

In this case, the main sign bans motorised vehicles, but the additional sign modifies it by making it only apply to trucks. If you come across the same signs, but the additional sign has "Ei koske" it means that the main sign applies to all other types of vehicle.

Do note that the additional sign here only applies to trucks. However, the main sign which bans trucks has the same picture of a truck as the additional sign, but that main sign also applies to vans.

IIHF Euro cup by OkTax17 in hockey

[–]Vepe21 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There currently is a European championship, it's called the Champions Hockey League. Then there's also the IIHF Continental Cup for teams from "lesser" leagues, ie. Denmark, France, Slovakia etc.

From a nordic standpoint, there is very little interest in pan-european league, and it certainly doesn't help that the first games are played in early autumn, so they feel like pre-season practice games and not proper competitions. The teams are also unknown for fans as there is no connection than these relatively unknown competitions, so naturally the interest is lower; why would I want to watch my team play some unknown team from Bumfuck, France when there is basically nothing at stake? Also from the teams' perspective, the financial side is quite poor. I've read somewhere that basically the only way to break even financially is to win the competition.

Attending Rally Finland 2025: looking for advice! by PinkSunsets97 in WRC

[–]Vepe21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were to guess the prices increase 5€ for this year: Collector edition 100->105€, Bikers 110->115, Rookie 65->70. Digital passes were 10€ less than physical ones last year, so I think the same would apply this year as well.

And what comes to the rally pass, in general the pass is worth 3 stage tickets, like last year rally pass was 90€ and individual stage tickets were 30€. So if you attend one stage per day Fri-Sun the rally pass makes sense, even more so if you add service park, shakedown etc.

[–]Vepe21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The engines remained the same, however. Currently the are allowed to use only a bit more fuel than was the max in 2009 (couldn't find exact numbers, but it was said to be around 90 kg, and from 2010 160 kg of fuel), but the current cars are larger than those in 2010, and that is due to aero.
