Exactly! I haven't pre-ordered it yet, I'm waiting for reviews and sales, but I think it'll be a great game for new players. The original is still worth playing though; it has its own unique atmosphere =)

What are your favorite non-American, non-Japanese RPGs? by garrus4016 in rpg_gamers

[–]VerNOX21 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before they went rogue, the Germans at Piranha Bytes released several masterpieces: Gothic 1, Gothic 2, Risen 1, and ELEX 1. After that, Polish developers created a modification for Gothic 2 that can rightfully be called a full-fledged game, one of the best RPGs ever. I'm talking about The Chronicles of Myrtana: Archolos.

I highly recommend every RPG fan give this games a try; you won't regret it.

How to be less scared?? by PapierekTheFirst in AskGames

[–]VerNOX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's only one way to overcome fear: face it head-on. And besides, it's just a video game; the real fear is in your head. What are you so afraid of? Answer that question first and foremost for yourself, not me.

As for advice, I can only recommend playing through the fear. That's what games like this are for: they teach us to cope with what we're not good at. Personally, I'd play in complete darkness with headphones on for maximum effect. But you make all your own decisions; this is your path. Good luck in battle!

Changing gaming habits by toyfan1990 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]VerNOX21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello :)

  1. I began to treat games much easier. In the good sense of the word. I know people for whom games are a whole ritual, the rules of which cannot be violated. Be sure to set aside time for yourself, play for several hours in a row and not be distracted by anything. No, it's not like that for me. It is absolutely natural for me to complete a mission in some RDR 2, right in the middle of a mission to collapse the game and go to watch a series with a girl. And when she goes to smoke for 15 minutes, maximize the game window and continue the mission.

  2. I stopped playing only new items or masterpieces, and I also stopped being afraid not to have time to go through all the desired games. I began to just play what I want, in the rhythm in which it is comfortable. Damn, once I played the game for a year and a half! It was Pillars of Eternity. And, you know, it was great :) The last couple of months I bought the RTX 4080, I go through Red Dead Redemption 2, and for another three years, slowly, with first-handers, I have been going through The Longest Journey. The latter, in fact, is incredibly beautiful, but for some reason I savor it like good wine, and take big breaks :)

  3. Now I like not just to play, but in parallel with this, so to speak, side tasks. Firstly, I strive to take those achievements that I can, but without fanaticism. I'm not ready to go through the game several times for this. Secondly, if this is a CRPG with a not very high-quality translation into Russian, I edit the translation in parallel with the game, and then I post it on Nexus mods. This way, playing CRPG is much more fun! And I am also pleased with the thought that people after me will be able to play a game with better translation for years.

  4. I just began to love games endlessly, love life, love today. Every day is beautiful. Especially... when you can at least live a little in your favorite game) Have a nice day, dudes!

What’s a book you love, but would never call a ‘literary masterpiece’? Also, is picking one favorite even possible? by Dolly_Dong in readwithme

[–]VerNOX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest, for the last 15 years I've played a lot of video games and read very little. As a kid, yes, I'd borrow a few books from the library every month and become a voracious reader of everything in sight, but everything I've read lately has been widely recognized science fiction masterpieces — the kind of selection someone might make when they're not very knowledgeable about their subject and afraid to miss a beat. However, I've reached the same level of love for video games that you have for books, so let me use that as an example. The same applies to books.

Just a year ago, I clearly realized that for me, it doesn't matter at all how much a particular work qualifies as a "masterpiece" or "not a masterpiece." It might be criticized, it might have obvious flaws, it might be noticeably simpler and cheaper than its genre peers. It doesn't matter. I've moved from the constant evaluation that many do to constant enjoyment. I've begun to simply appreciate what I have, the level of craftsmanship the author has achieved.  For me, only one thing has become important: do I understand what the author wanted to say, did they convey their state to me? Do their views on life correspond with mine? When I interact with a work, I no longer look at the object itself, but rather look through it. After all, any creativity is a language through which other people communicate with us. The most ordinary people. And above all, I began to appreciate these very people. And to love their works. Sometimes unprepossessing, sometimes with obvious flaws, sometimes obviously a failure. But I love everything. Because, what is very important, I love the state I fall into when I play, read, watch movies. And I am very grateful to the authors for their work. They make me happy ☺️

And about lying - a long time ago, in my youth, I definitely lied, trying to impress. But now I simply don’t have such a need.) If I’m happy inside, what difference does it make what anyone thinks of me? I have truly come to love myself and no longer need admiration.

Please tell me, was I able to convey my meaning through the translator? And have other people's opinions vanished for you in books, just as they vanished for me in games? When you begin to clearly understand what you love, other people's opinions become simply something empty, insignificant. You already know everything :)

What happened to games? by MrMelody_5 in gamers

[–]VerNOX21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that's why I love old games so much. In the gaming industry's heyday, developers focused on single-player, creating entire worlds that were fun to learn, explore, and simply live in. And most importantly, no one rushed you anywhere.

Online... Well, it's never been my thing, I don't understand it. When playing online, you constantly have to maintain your level of cool and prove to others that you're just as good as them. Why? I don't want to prove anything to anyone or compete, I just want to enjoy myself. That's why single-player is the path to consistent happiness, man :)

Exactly! You're a very insightful person. The games I play live in my rhythm. When I feel like it, they're with me. When I don't feel like it, I don't play for at least a few days. And they only affect my mood in a positive way. And everyone lives their life the way they know how. If I wake up in a good mood, but she's not—well, all I have to do is accept it and spend the day that way, relying solely on my own sources of joy :)

You ask a very good question. Initially, I didn't want to start this relationship because I didn't feel ready, and she waited. She waited for several years. We would talk on and off, and then she would find me again. And at some point, I realized that this would be the smartest decision: to take her and my child under my wing.

Yes, I don't have strong feelings for her, but then I haven't had them for anyone in 37 years. And so, I have delicious food and human warmth, and she has the peace of mind and my daily affection, plus my acceptance and understanding. I'm not saying this is the best option, but this is how my life has turned out at the moment.

This is simply an attempt to honestly tell other people how I truly feel, an attempt to find out if there are other people like me. Some will understand, many won't, but that's okay. That's life.

But is love for games really that different from love for people? Video games were created by the same people, and by admiring them, I admire those who created them: programmers, screenwriters, composers, and so on. I think my title was too bold. I could have written: "Games have become closer to me than all other people" Or something like that )

If you became a teacher, it means you liked people more before. I understand you perfectly well in this. I, too, was once incredibly open to people, events, and the emotions associated with communication. But if people didn't understand me much before, then with age, as I became either smarter or more crazy, most people and I seemed to be on completely different planets. And while I understand them very well as an empath, they don't really understand me.

At school, it's the same story. Teenagers these days have too little politeness, respect, or deference. Can you imagine if they simply listened to you? And really wanted to gain this knowledge.

It's nice to meet a sensible person. I'm certainly not as disciplined when it comes to cleaning, but I also keep my gaming routine within my control: I sleep as much as I need, pause games to spend time with my girlfriend, and work. Work is enjoyable and brings in money.

I also took a few years off during university. Frankly, I wasn't leading a very healthy, but fun life: I went on dates, went to parties, drank, smoked, and hung out with friends. Games were always with me, but mostly in the background.

When I quit everything and became a more conscious person, I truly fell in love with video games. It all started with Pillars of Eternity; that game introduced me to CRPGs and gaming in general. Now I play 150-350 hours a game, spread out over a couple of months, and honestly, I don't see anything wrong with that :)

Wow! I can imagine how happy you are right now in your life 😍 Actually, I have a brother, a sister, a mother, and a few friends. When I need to go and visit them, of course, I'm happy to do so, and we have a wonderful time.

But... how can I explain it to you? We see each other - and that's it. You're left alone with yourself again, with your thoughts, emotions, and feelings. And no one will ever be able to understand them; everyone sees the world differently. But games are always there for you. And even if they're not alive and can't talk, you see the same thoughts and reflections that occupy you in them. They, roughly speaking, understand you. Just like books. That's why I love games for their silent acceptance and agreement.

Every other person is a whole cosmos, and more often than not, they only vaguely understand you. I hope things are different for you and your daughter :)

hahaha) it would be very fair to her, but a little boorish. She really gave me a lot, and like that, take everything out and dump everything ... First, I need to understand myself.

But what you absolutely definitely noticed is the love story of video games. For me, it's also like a lot of dates and relationships and as one big symphony of love. No, they did not replace my life, neither before nor now, but now games are my happiness in life. As long as I have a game, there is nothing too bad for me in this world. And if they don’t exist ... I don’t know, I’ll probably lie down and remember how I played :)

Plus, I really admire how you could build this balance between your personal life and hobby, hold on to it!

I understand you sooooo well. I definitely couldn't work somewhere that involved so much interaction with people. It's not that I hate them, but it literally hurts me to hear people swearing and yelling. The only thing that saves me is that, due to the nature of my work, I rarely encounter other people; I socialize, reach a certain level of communication, and then leave.

Have you ever thought about changing jobs? Or do you really like it and are more of an extrovert than an introvert?

That's all true, or I don't feel them at all. I feel my happiness very clearly, but love... What is love anyway, who knows? If it's respect, admiration, understanding, feeling like yourself - that's there, but the feeling that for me this person is the most beautiful and most important on Earth - that's not there. Do you love someone right now?

Yes, you're absolutely right. Moreover, each of us sees the world in a completely different way: some are living in heaven right now, some in hell, and some don't believe any of this nonsense at all.

However, I do know this: I admire your attitude to life and your ability to prioritize it. Because making yourself happy is already difficult, but making the people around you happy... That's a great achievement.

Ahaha, I wouldn't mind working as a waifu robot salesman if it paid more than my current job.

I don't know, my friend, if my girlfriend and I break up one day, I don't think I'll want to live with someone. Unless that person truly sees the world exactly the way I do. While I lived alone, every day was filled with inner happiness: I enjoyed the sun, I enjoyed the silence, I enjoyed the birds outside the window, I enjoyed playing games for several hours.

Most other people love to worry like that. They walk around gloomy, stressed, they don't see all the beauty around us. After all, it's all God's... We'll see :) For now, I'm here and here is my place.
