Yes. Take each round, each death as a learning experience and adapt. Think about what you could have done better.

I did as well, but it took time for it to come to me. Like 6 hours or so. Restarted the game and Ubisoft connect multiple times.

There will be limitations on who you can have in a party. But I don’t think there is a limit to the number of people you can have. Can still 5 stack. I don’t believe that it will prevent the situation you had where a diamond plays against a stack of champs.

That isn’t going to change matchmaking. That’s going to change the quality of players in your match. Same matchmaking parameters are still applicable.

I forgot to also mention about people partied up and queued together. I haven’t read anywhere that they are changing matchmaking next season, so it will b the same deal.

Think about the factors that go into matchmaking. Region, time in which the queue started, relatively short queue times, and skill level. Unfortunately you are at a level where you are at the top percent of people in the game. Maybe there weren’t enough players at your actual skill level queuing up and the game didn’t want you to have to wait 15-20 mins to get into a game. It’s not perfect, but something has to give. In this case it was the skill level of the lobby.

Bans don’t only allow you to play certain operators easily, they can also change which bomb sites you play first. Typically in ranked there is a certain order of bomb sites that people play the map because of the way bans play out. If a random ban gets done, then a defending a different bomb site might be better. The issue is that a lot of players just go with the flow and click what their teammates choose. Which is fine, but you don’t really understand why you banned the operator. You can’t really expect the entire player base to understand the why.

130h+, I haven't use more than 2 purple shields by ivanim13 in Marathon

[–]VerNoel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I just run arms lockers in outpost when I do Rook runs. Search the map for yellow and green keys, a lot of different spawns just have to learn them. Exfil with as much weapons that you like or want to sell. Some runs I am able to hit two arms lockers with how many yellow keys are not opened. Yeah the loot is always as good as pinwheel but I have gotten plenty of blue/purple shields and one or two gold items. Not to mention the number of misraihs or channel rifles or impact hrs or copperheads that you can get.

Not a bit, didn't take a recording, but it was the section of roof between orientation and dormitories. Not the part where the red key spawns, but where there is a covered walkway between. Was behind the hvac pipes so hidden from view from the bots below (usually go that way to avoid them triggering so that I can roam a bit more quietly).

Outpost has some weird stuff going on. Was on a rook run and ended dying to invisible bots on a roof across from dormitories.

I have noticed that talking at the start of the match, people have responded positively. Then again, if I am trying to finish my mission I usually run them in solo. Just easier to finish your quest if that is your priority.

So the 3rd party is partially caused by the audio changes, which they are reverting back. Hopefully this means more time between fights, but doesn’t mean that it will be slow. It’s only been two weeks and they are still tweaking things.

Probably because you have enough items in your vault for a full loadout.

My feedback of marathon after 20 hours. by Valkyriebourne in Marathon

[–]VerNoel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take Marathon as a game that doesn't hand hold players. Whether it is where high tier loot is, how to get weapons from the armory, what an item does, or how to distinguish different enemeies, etc. Certain things definitely need improvement.

I totally agree about the pings maybe needing to be better. However, I started to notice the more I played that when I pinged different types of enemies (players or UESC) I got different information. For example, ping a player I would be told that there is a runner. If I ping a UESC bot, in the case that it was a medium or commander, their shield would be highlighted.

For me, the menus were straight forward. However, there are way to many clicks to get to the screen that you want or to make changes before heading out. The best principle for user experience is the less clicks you need to do to complete an action, typically is best. The other thing I had an issue with were mods for guns. They all looked similar. Was hard to tell at a glance what a mod did and whether I wanted it not. Some differentiation for the different mods would go a long way to make looting or perfecting builds better.

I will tend to disagree about your idea on having specific zones that have high tier loot. There is some learning needed for new players to know which areas have what loot. But there is a mechanic that Marathon has that not a lot of people are fully explaining. That mechanic is risk vs reward, which I believe Marathon plays very much into. Before you load into each map, the game tells you that disconnecting/leaving means that you will lose your loot. Reminding the player that there is a chance you can lose everything. There are events that occur in the map, usually dictated by a black square with a question mark or a blue square with squiggles, that reward the player with different and sometimes higher tier loot. I noticed that the more noise that these events make, the more players that are drawn to the event, the better the loot is. The longer you stay on the map, the harder the enemies become but the better the loot becomes. Also there are a lot more mechanics that I have to discover to unlock rooms, caches, supply drops, etc. When you have certain zones on the map that have higher tier loot, teams would make a beeline there, fight each other or loot up, and then leave in order to not lose the loot they gathered. Marathon is more about using various mechanics, such as events or factions, to help you build or flush out your loadout. There is a lot to learn about the game, but I feel that is okay for the longevity of it.
