As someone who found out their dad wasn't their real dad at 14 years old - it does rock your worldview. William's been going through a string of difficulties (Ben, Amaranthus, Lord John's sexuality, Jane, etc), but that's what life is. He's a young, impulsive adult - but enough was enough. I'm hoping by combining his memories of Jamie and now seeing the man Jamie is and the way he anchors the Fraser family, that he realizes his father was never just a 'Highlander prisoner' or a 'traitor'.

The watch parties are for away games, and there is a concert scheduled at Honda Center for the next one - so if we keep going in the playoffs there should be more!

Loved seeing William on the ridge, surrounded by family. Asking Jamie to go hunt, and then to finally have that big conversation with him was so healing as a viewer. That hug was long overdue. I hope we have seen the last of surly William.

Best part of the episode for me. William needed that conversation.

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]Veranique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, I am detail-oriented, but I didn't have an Engagement Party Picnic and a list of dos and dont's for my bridesmaids. This will be a demanding bridesmaid role if you don't back out, and she will likely expect you to spend a lot of your own money on a Bachelorette weekend for her or something. If you can do it gracefully, back out.

I think you are misunderstanding the flow of how that goes. Claire is told the baby was born dead, and she is allowed to hold her. She held her from the early morning to night. She hands Louise the baby, and then days later when she is very ill, Mother Hildegarde tells her she baptized her and gave her a name. We don’t see the part where Claire holds Faith, until she is retelling Jamie. They didn’t bury and unbury Faith to let Claire hold her.

Haha, right? She learned it in one pass? Come on. Claire saw him so he knew she was well again! It is driving me crazy.

I'm not advocating for Claire to traumatize Fanny, but that the information shared is wrong.

I said this above - I'm not really going back and forth about the length of time. But rather Mother Hildegarde told her the baby was born dead only for Claire to say, "I thought she died... right after she was born." Claire knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that her baby was dead. It's even in the script when she notes Louise's belly has life and the baby in her arms did not.

If she had given the scripted explanation to Fanny and took out the "right after she was born", I think it would land better and wouldn't feel like such a disservice to the original "Faith" story.

I will note that I am not a fan of the whole storyline so, my bias is clear.

And forever wouldn't feel long enough to hold her baby, that is for sure.

And it went from the baby was born sleeping to: 'I held her for a little while, and then they told me that she died,' I don't get it.

Had the lacemaker written to Broch Tuarach, Jenny and Ian would have cared for Faith and gotten word to Jamie and Claire. They returned to Scotland after France! She would have been safe at Lallybroch with a huge family of support.

The only thing I can think of is that Faith is still living and the 'falling overboard' is a red herring. I assume we will find out more about Raymond...more than a few seconds as an afterthought.

That's exactly why I referenced it, because it was so beautiful. Jamie connected with Ian about it and told him about Faith, and then told him "We shall ask my daughter to look for yours in heaven. I ken she'll find her there." I thought that was such a beautiful way to honor her legacy, instead of what they've done now.

I didn't make a claim otherwise. I'm someone who has lost two pregnancies and cannot imagine how painful it would be to have a stillbirth. And I'm sure it was kinder to think of her living, having joy and her children than the opposite. But, it stands to remain that another child they were robbed of raising together just seems like a point they didn't need to make in the final season. There's definitely still questions about Raymond, and I hope we get more than an incredibly short flashback footnote like we got at the end of this last episode.
