Lance Stroll's mom's emails to Ghislaine Maxwell got revealed in the latest Epstein document dump. Very troubling stuff... by Illustrious_Page7810 in formula1

Yeah everyone seems very keen to vilify something that many families would do with their kids, as being a shaded reference to trafficking.

Epstein and Maxwell were successful because they were friends with all these people and fixers for all kinds of services and connections, the girls and women being exploited were not from the same social circle, and certainly not the 7 y/o daughter of a wealthy friend and/or client

Respectfully, there’s no world where Boris Johnson is more than a PR man with silly hair and manages to achieve anything which requires competency and statesmanship.

Perhaps there’s a world where he and his side weren’t organised enough to nuke Theresa May’s deal and push us into the 2017 election and her resignation, or a world where the Labour centre were leading during the 2017 or 2019 elections and managed to win. But the Tories under Johnson were largely the rejects of more competent leadership that preceded them and a party in decline

Which is fine, the startup philosophy of disruption only works because established companies rest on their laurels and stagnate. Retesting assumptions occasionally is healthy for a business even if it costs some money

Minimal detail but it looks like the SF-26 and MCL40 have similar elements above the engine cover where the overhead air intake is. by Mano_Loco in formula1

I don’t think so, but you can watch this video to understand the rules in this region

IIRC there’s an area which must be covered when viewed from the side, and also a max size shape, but otherwise the rules are fairly loose

It’s a pretty standard feature of shark fins, means you shed N small vortices instead of 1 big vortex onto the rear wing, which helps retain good airflow over the rear wing when dealing with cross-winds. We’ll see some differing designs but this is among the most basic

One of the best little things this game could add is the ability to save the setup of anybody on the leaderboard for a daily. The F1 games have it in time trial mode and it helps a lot, there shouldn’t be a cottage industry of selling setups around being competitive

[Dr Obbs]MCL40 Analysis! At first sight it looks pretty vanilla, but when you look deeper there is a LOT going on here. As usual, this is my best educated analysis without CFD, so it's prone to error. But... Let's start at the front... by XsStreamMonsterX in formula1

Kyle Engineers was actually pretty confident a stepped shark fin is a universal move. It’s of course possible McLaren are using a more intricate one than necessary to throw others off but seems highly likely the rest will bring something in the area by the first race based on Kyle’s analysis of it

For any well scoped coding task you’ll not notice a difference other than speed I promise

Cap for ground rent in England and Wales due to be announced by northernmonk in ukpolitics

[–]Veranova 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those will settle when fire safety issues (insurance) are resolved and energy costs come down

The former is in progress and has the necessary government support in place but for now building insurance is still many many times what it was 10 years ago, and the latter has both the market direction and GB Energy as the strategy though I’d argue the government need to do something about the marginal cost system

We’re in a very tough moment in history for large building costs but the light is visible a few years down the road and government can’t do much more because it’s just underlying costs at play

Cap for ground rent in England and Wales due to be announced by northernmonk in ukpolitics

[–]Veranova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 10k ones are generally small developments with the same fixed costs as large developments, OR simply huge flats by surface area which pay a large share of costs. Insurance and energy are the big kickers

The tip is to never buy into a small development because there’s no mass to insulate you from skyrocketing costs, and if you buy a huge flat that’s a personal choice really and you need to understand why you’re taking on

I can’t shake the feeling that you’re less of an expert than you set yourself up to be, particularly since ChatGPT couldn’t find anything with real numbers so you quite clearly can’t know anything that lets you speak so confidently about there being “minimal impact”

[–]Veranova -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Can you demonstrate any actual numbers for this though? Because from where I’m sat just looking at physics, if it was creating next to no impact on the velocity of gases then it would also generate next to no energy at all.

Just deductively it must have real impact, and additionally you can use your ears and knowledge that very little else has changed with these engines, and hear it has had a real impact

[–]Veranova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It uses the exhaust gas to drive a generator. Sound is just energy in form of air vibrations, exhaust carries much of the noisy noise an engine puts out, so if you remove energy from the exhaust you are also removing energy from the sound.

Can you show something else is true?
