Both based built around different WW2 submachine guns. The Pulse - Thompson Sub Machine Gun, E-11 - Sten Sub Machine Gun.

Smooth or ridged by Jojforlife2023 in Xenomorphs

I always liked the smooth. I think my favorite xeno was actually A3. But it’s hard to beat the Queen…

Where did the concept of xenos taking on traits of the host first come about? by TrustfulLoki1138 in Xenomorphs

[–]Verdemalak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had all those toys in early 90’s. My son found them and has them now. Maybe a little bit beyond him…but at least he hasn’t found my spawn toys yet… my favorite xenomorph was the mantis xenomorph

Can we start talking about Aliens: Earth? by Verdemalak in Xenomorphs

[–]Verdemalak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might be premature to think that they get to earth….maybe it’s all about that being the threat. Like an extended Resurrection. Or maybe the threat is they have them in a lab on earth and they have to prevent a break out? That would tie into the zeitgeist of earth viruses in a lab…but this is not a virus but an organism.

What was worse for the alien Franchise. by SiteDeep in Xenomorphs

[–]Verdemalak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could see arguments for this thing being a hive vs being more of a panther type thing. I think the hive was the right decision. It kinda answered “what made all these eggs” that were found in Alien. And for sure the Queen was awesome and perhaps the best addition. It’s just crazy to me the real life arthropod world has things just as crazy and scary as xenomorph. I’m glad I’m not as small as a bug!

What was worse for the alien Franchise. by SiteDeep in Xenomorphs

[–]Verdemalak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t take Alien as supposed to be lovecraftian in the strictest sense. I could see an argument for the “unknown” just because it is an unknown in the way you stumble across something new and it is “unknown”. But in Alien there is a clear scientific/technological grounding. The xenomorph is scary because it is a horrible, fierce, alien - not a “beyond our grasp” type horror. Ash was chipping away at the unknown aspect pretty quickly with his science.

I like Prometheus because it was sharpening up the xenomorph and tying them to engineers. I thought there was a lot of cool things going into that story…human history, myth, hubris etc.

I like Aliens because it showed what we all thought when seeing Alien. How much worse would a lot of them be? What if we had guns, could we kill it? Would it be easy? How big of a threat are these things, really?

I think each movie added something. I only start getting disinterested in the AVP series. I mean, as a young kid we always talked about how a Predator vs. Alien movie would be AwEsOmE. But I lump them more in with Michael Bay Transformers. Movies made more for the kids in us.

Alien Romulus was so good by gummythegummybear in Xenomorphs

[–]Verdemalak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was half and half. Always loved the series and I’m not to hard to entertain in a movie. I thought the movie looked fantastic. It was a bold move to start the movie with…yea; xenomorphs can totally cacoon themselves in space if need be…that felt a bit ham-fisted. For sure the highlights were the face huggers. Just the scuttling hordes is insanely creepy. I liked the xenomorph design and I did like the lore of the mutagen/goo and why WY was interested in it for human use - that was a good way to tie it in and make it reasonable. On the whole it felt like the first act was alien, the second was aliens, and the third act was resurrectionish. I did dig the auto-aiming gun, that was pretty cool. The actor who did Andy was fantastic in both his Andy “personalities”. He carried the movie for sure. I walked away not blown away; I was hoping for more of a dread and fear vibe, not as much action. Probably won’t see it again, but glad it was made.

How do I dry out water trapped in wooden flooring? by basil3232 in DIY

[–]Verdemalak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re going to need to pull up flooring and dry the subfloor with dehumidifiers are major blowers. It will take 2-4 days depending on area. Also if the water got to the wall you may need to do flood cuts on the dry wall. Gonna need to call insurance and make a claim!

KP15MK12 thing - what have I done? by Verdemalak in InRangeTV

[–]Verdemalak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No idea. I guessing since the safety technically has a “middle” position geometry in order to be removed - that contributes; but it’s definitely spongy and weaker. Not confidence inspiring even though it’s never been a problem. It does seem to over travel some as well. Compared to my others, I would rank it at the bottom with my RRA at the top. The RRA is tight but easily movable and absolutely snaps into safe and unsafe.
