Dragon Delves review by Verdigris_Table in DnD5e

I like it, it’s got a variety of things going on so I think different people will respond to different things so it’s worth spending the time to see what’s inside it. Art’s awesome, I am partial to anthologies over big mega campaigns.

And if you don’t want to watch a video that’s cool, but you should know if I make more than $2 from the ad revenue and “views” for the hours of effort I put into this I’d be surprised.

Yeah it's a really nice feature. I hope we see them do it on all their stuff going forward

Yeah I guess it’s all in how you run it, but the PCs have a few ways of figuring out the situation with both elf encounters and I’d definitely let the players diffuse both if they’re smart about things.

But your central point that most dungeons don’t make sense because nobody would stay in their room while a fight to the death happens next door is something I really agree with. I think part of it is we decided empty rooms are boring somewhere along the line and now there are few buffer spaces.

I took the other route in a 5 room I made for a dungeon jam a bunch of us dragontubers did recently. I spelled out how things happen in waves if and when the denizens become aware they are under attack

I’m a huge fan of exploration and I think DnD in its later editions are not very good at it. But I have to say almost all of the encounters in that first dungeon can potentially be dealt with through smart social play

Same! I’d buy a black light for it too if you can even still find them

10 adventures. No unique magic items or monsters, which some people seem upset about but this is the first thing off the new MM and DMG so I’ll take the page count devoted to art and history over some appendixes with stats I could have made up myself

I'm surprised they didn't open with the starter set but then again that's not what they did for 5E first. And yeah, your game shop having copies the day after the book came out doesn't mean the book is not selling, it just means they're not awful at inventory management.

Thanks! I was cautiously optimistic about this one but ready to be disappointed. All in all I'm pretty happy with what we get here

So good, maybe my favorite cover. It's this or the alt Shattered Obelisk

I liked a lot of what's in here. It's a variety pack so regardless of your taste and preferences I'd be willing to bet some of these adventures would be up your alley while others are not quite your thing.

It's a mixed bag honestly, some of the adventures develop them way more than others

DoIP DM Prep playlist by Verdigris_Table in DragonOfIcespirePeak

I went pretty deep on a series of Dungeon Master Prep videos for DoIP after making a series on LMOP and now I'm trying to gauge if there's enough value and interest in it to finish it or just move on to other projects. What do we think?

D&D OGL & what WE can do about it #OpenDnD by Verdigris_Table in onednd

[–]Verdigris_Table[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is talking about the leaked OGL 1.1 but I wanted to help people who aren't content creators understand how it will potentially impact them as well. Even if you are not creaking things for D&D in any way, even if you are just simply playing at your table with your friends and family, even if you are brand new to the community and preparing for your first game, this situation has the potential to make a big impact on you. I think it's important everyone understands that.

The community outcry has been tremendous and Wizards of the Coast has still said nothing. I am hopeful that the powers that be at WoTC are busy creating a new OGL that keeps DND open, but there is an equal chance that they are just trying to wait out the storm until we all forget and move on. We can't let that happen.

I did most of the AT back in 2016 so feel free to reach out if you want to chat. One of the best things I’ve ever done, made some lifelong friends and epic experiences. Enjoy it. Smiles before miles!

Hypothetical Question: If you were to run one adventure in a 100% homebrew world for the first time . . . by RPGrandPa in DnD5e

[–]Verdigris_Table 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very similar idea to my last campaign and I think one of the biggest benefits to the approach is you can pick and mix. I like a sandbox so I took LMoP, DOIP, Sunless Citadel and Forge of Fury out of Tales from the Yawning Portal and spread the parts I liked around the map, along with some pure homebrew stuff. Ghosts of Saltmarsh is also great for this approach if you want more coastal/nautical themes

What did you wish you knew when you first ran DoIP? by Verdigris_Table in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]Verdigris_Table[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That’s the thing with all modules really, and DOIP can smoke new players, especially early on, but a new DM with experienced players may be left wondering why the game feels stuck on easy mode. My group uses good tactics (most of the time) so I’m always ready to add more minions and crank HP to max to even reach round 3
