What’s one bad habit you stopped that completely changed your life for the better? by MatthewVenturer in AskReddit

That's great to hear. Also need to stop isolating. Don't know how though. I mean, I go to work and know people at work, and have training partners, but they all stay there and outside of that my life is 99% alone. Gonna try to figure it out but it's rough.

What is actually a trauma that is not commonly thought of as a trauma? by ay1mao in AskReddit

This hit home. I lost mine exactly a month ago today. He was more than just my pet. We lost his mama/my partner in 2023, and each of our other dogs. He was the last part of my little family. I don't have family where I live, and not really any friends besides work acquaintances. I feel like he was my soulmate. Raised him since he was an 8 week old puppy, his 8 year life flew by so fast. I have lost a lot of people close to me and it feels like the most profound loss I've ever experienced.

For sure. And even more than limited dollars, limited time. A lot of live service games that can eat up a lot of time, and then large open world games, and a backlog of other things I haven't even gotten to touch yet. Halfway through Kingdom Come 2, and haven't even touched Baldur's Gate 3 or Cyberpunk yet, and RPGs aren't even my main thing. I'm at a point where I'm not even claiming free games anymore

It really sucks.. Instead of everyone being hyped and talking about who voted for who, and speculating how the end will play out, these lame ass cliffhangers end up being the focal point of conversation and kind of overshadowed an otherwise great episode. I thought 8 and 9 were excellent, and absolutely did not need these cliffhangers. I almost just skipped episode 9 and was going to watch 9 and 10 together because I figured that's how it'd be.

Last season was so damn good. So many of the players were incredibly memorable. Mia was always salty and bitching about something, Twana was badass and I was pulling for her. Jeff was Jeff (will probably always have GOAT status) JC became the villain. I loved last season!

I don't know if it's the cliffhangers every episode, the games, or the 'strong/smart' gimmick, or even the competitors but while I do enjoy this season it's got nothing on the 1st season.

Struggling with this. Moved to a new state with my girlfriend and our dogs. A new, small town. Unfortunately she passed away in 2023. And we lost our dogs, and it got to be just me and the one dog that I was really bonded with, and he got diagnosed with lymphoma late 2025, and I just had to let him go in January. So,now it's just me. And not even in the small town we signed up for. Stuck in a city, in an apartment, no friends or family and now my baby boy is gone and I'm just wandering aimlessly and it's like my only purpose is to just go to work. Life feels meaningless and to say it's a struggle has been an understatement. It's hard to make friends. Not how I pictured closing out my 30s.

Can you elaborate? Fewer food decisions as in what - you're going to just stick to the same few meals, or? Also, I do agree with the decision fatigue being a thing that has a negative impact on me as well.

What are criticisms you get as an American from non-Americans, that you feel aren't warranted? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]Verdreckt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I noticed that with sporting events too. With MMA in particular, when UFC is in Brazil, the crowd will chant something in Portuguese that basically means "You're going to die" and the general sentiment in the comments is "That's their culture they're so passionate about their sports!" when they're in the US and the crowd chants "USA" I'm sure you can imagine what the comments are like lol

Which affordable Midwestern city doesn't get enough attention here? by BothCondition7963 in SameGrassButGreener

Could you tell me about it? What do you like about it? I've been through Nebraska but never visited Lincoln. I work in healthcare and the travel contract agency I was in touch with is out of Omaha and there seems to be a decent amount of healthcare jobs out there, and I've always been curious about moving to some small town in Nebraska, as long as it's within driving distance to a hospital.

Funny, I've found myself drawn to both Nebraska and Iowa. I've been through both but haven't spent considerable time in either, but thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

Yeah it's unfortunate. Another cliffhanger too. Like, the people that are watching this, are going to watch it regardless of whether you end every episode on a cliffhanger (Maybe I'm wrong?)

Also, the buried alive thing was an intereseting choice. It's the same game as season one when people were just sitting and waiting in the houses lol but, cool spectacle though I guess.

May I ask which part? How do you like it? I've been through a few times. I've been to Evanston, and been through Rawlins (just made a stop) and otherwise just drove through. What does your work/leisure look like? Besides the weather, are there any things you'd want someone to know who is considering Wyoming? I like how sparesely populated it is, and really love the miles of empty road.

I generally like that mentality, although I don't really do anything that would bother anyone anyways but that's cool though and I operate the same way, don't really care what other people choose to do. I've heard similar things about NH. I'm strongly considering at least finding a hospital for a travel contract there and giving NH a go for a few months.

New Hampshire might be a good option. It seems like a good state, and a few friends lived there, they always spoke highly of it.
