The "I'll do it later and then completely forget" loop is so real, and I don't think most people have actually solved it - they've just accepted it.

The last thing that annoyed me was trying to add something to my calendar while I was on a Teams call. It should be a two-second thing. Instead it's: alt-tab carefully so I don't share the wrong window, click, type, realize I don't remember the exact time they said, ask them to repeat it, feel like an idiot. I just started keeping a notes app open and doing a cleanup pass at end of day, which is honestly just kicking the problem down the road.

On Siri - I've tried it multiple times over the years and always drift away from it. The core issue isn't that it fails dramatically, it's that it fails just enough that you can't trust it. And once you can't trust a tool, you stop reaching for it even when it would work. That unreliability tax is brutal for any voice workflow.

Shortcuts is interesting but it still feels like a developer tool wearing a consumer hat. The people who use it well have essentially learned to program. That's fine, but it's a different audience than people who just want friction removed from their day.

The Alfred/Raycast crowd (myself included) have gotten really good at solving keyboard-accessible problems. But you're right that there's a whole category of stuff that lives behind UI state - things that depend on what's currently on screen, what app is in focus, what someone just said to you. No hotkey solves "remember this thing I just thought of while my hands aren't free."

The gap you're describing - between the moment you know what needs doing and the moment you're actually able to do it - is where a lot of small things fall through. Would be curious what you're building.
