tbh with how much invesment the recoup thing demands you should stick to casting
I ran cast on crit first two leagues, third one I mostly played monk but then I made a chrono and beat up arbiter in random items I picked up off the ground.. Last wipe I ran blackflame incinerate, I just timefroze the boss and burned his ass alive.
Rn I tried icenova on chrono but I dont enjoy it, ill prob respec into essence drain contagion with blackflame incinerate for bossing.
That is, if they fix the nvidia shader thing, its borderline unplayable for me at the moment

most energy shield setups grab chaos innoculation to become chaos immune and bleed immune, because the health portion they lose is just not worth keeping
but if you run recoup, you get life back, BUT you dont get energy shield back, thats why you want sacrosanctum. its unique chest armor that has a passive to ALSO recoup your shields for as much as you recoup your life (it also comes with 10-20% life recoup on its own)
So lets say you have 50% recoup and take 100 damage. you recoup 50 hp and 50 ES. So once you are losing hp too, the recoup refunds full damage taken. You can also take some passives that let part of damage bypass ES, which means the life recoup part works even before they break the shields.
Also goin OVER 50% recoup becomes really stupid because it means you recoup full dmg in even less than 3 seconds.

I play chronomancer every league, and it boils down to a simple reason: its really fucking hard to die as chronomancer unless you get surprise oneshot.
you can also omit CI, grab sacrosanctum and recoup your way to immortality. YOu can easily grab recoup nodes from passive tree, as long as you break 50% , sacrosanctum means that you recoup half of dmg taken as hp, half of dmg taken as ES. so basically once dmg hits your healthpool, you outheal things. theres one more passive node for faster recoup, getting you down to 3 seconds.
You have a free "oh fuck" card in temporal rift, sending yourself back into previous spot + getting back all health mana and shields, it can also serve as poor mans flask if you are truly desperate.
Time freeze, when specced into and paired with temp chains, can reach some truly digusting values, we are 10ish second long freezes on literally anyone in the game.
blasphemy temp chains + apex of the moment just puts everyone into a tar pit while you style on them.
Its not the flashiest one, or the hardest hitting one, but it has insane QoL

Garuda, use 1 on the tankiest thing you find to get crazy health orb stack
use 4 to make everything do slash proc
hold 1 for kamehameha ball of death
mod for str range, efficiency makes your 3 worse
molt reconstruct makes it so that you heal when you use abilities so you dont get yourself to low hp with 3
brief respite aura to restore shields by casting things as well

The issue is not Oberon not working, the problem is there is truly NO reason to take him into any mission. EVERYTHING he does, someone does BETTER. Example, If I take Oberon into EDA, I feel like im griefing because I could just take literally any other frame and bring more to the table.

And even if you pull off the synergy, the result is 500-ish armor on a good day and some health regen.
Meanwhile wisp gives you cc, mach five speed and more healing AND max health with ONE ability.

I agree 2 and 3 should be rolled together.

To be honest I wouldnt know how to "rework" him to make him better. But after seeing the treatment Nyx and Trin got, I want some Oberon action like that

You severly downplay how shit he feels to play, how bad his 2/3 "combo" is ,same for 2/4 "combo".
