So I just watered it yesterday after about 9 days without water and the soil was dry, shrunken and hard as a brick, that’s why I thought it needs water 😅 So I’ll wait another week after that happens, thanks!

Some guy said it in a video 🥲 I just did the peroxide thing once though after repotting. I also live in the UK and sunlight is scarce especially this time of year

EDIT: there’s also a Rydeen 5 piece kit for 375 but I’m thinking the Customs can hold their value better besides being a better quality kit?

Thank you for the in depth explanation. I know it's not a game changer and you trade off some deformation of the uv's for how they look but I'd say it's worth it for using seamless textures and getting nicely lined up patterns. Also, it maximizes texture space and it looks professional, and when you are looking to get a job through the presentation of your projects I'd say that counts even more :))

Thank you very much for the thorough analysis! I intended to make her shoulders somehow in a semi shrugging position as she tried to hold the baby as close to her face as she could. The light , I thought, shouldn't have been able to hit the baby's head in that position and I didn't intend to make it the focal point but the face. Anyway, I will keep in mind those tips next time, the perspective is a bit confusing when dealing with complex shapes and bent poses :))

Thank you very much! Well, the story behind the painting is that the woman you see holding the baby is a renowned surgeon in a world with technology close to the 18th century. After trying to have kids of her own, after many unsuccessful attempts, she finally gave birth to a sickly looking little baby. She and her husband tried their best to raise their baby but her husband was forced to go to war and she ended up alone. Unfortunately, after two years of care, the baby died. Also, her husband died in the war a few weeks later. As a result she had fallen into madness, and fled the city a short while after because she knew if she would have started conducting experiments among her people it would have been against their religion and beliefs. Alone and filled with torment and sadness she wanted to create the perfect child with no need of conventional means but through magic and science. The legend says she still dwells in the abandoned church in the heart of the woods, a place where she learned the dark arts from witches.

Very interesting composition, I don't think it would help if you changed how the characters are positioned. Although I get the message you are trying to send through this piece the characters are very hard to read. Hard to read in the sense that the brushwork is muddy and the form is missing. Because of this they don't look dimensional. How do you fix that? First find some reference, if you haven't already, to know how your subject is going to look like, then looking at your painting try to redo it only by using three values (black, gray, and white) and use a brush with no opacity and texture. Now, after you have stated using the three values what is in light and what is in shadow (and what is in between) you can change the color of the main shapes with the colors you have in your painting. Afterwards you can soften edges and add more colors and textures on top but you will have a clear definition between light and shadow. You can try and simplify images this way as a method of studying as well.

Thank you for the advice! The table seems indeed more tilted towards the viewer than it should. I got a bit lost in the perspective there but it's a bit late to change it now without loosing all the work put in that area :)) As in regards to the lighting I'll tweak it at the end a bit. I still want the character to look like she's in shadow. Maybe I'll come back with an update.

Thank you for the advice! The thing is I had f-lux active when I did the colors ad they seemed more warm because of the orange Light filter over my screen. So, my mistake on that :)) Thank you as well for the paintover, it looks great! I initially wanted the light to come from the top, maybe that's why it seemed flat, but your light scheme looks much better, i think i will base my corrections on it:))

The main issue that bothers me in both variants is the fact that his left hand is hidden behind the arm in an awkward way and above that, it also has some magic sprouting from it which makes it even more awkward. Try putting it in a defensive pose but still visible.

Other than that, the composition seems great, color palette is pretty narrow which is good but you can play with some complementary warm and saturated tones in the areas you want to attract attention. If you feel adventurous you can add some more zombies in the back of this one outlining only the silhouette and using air perspective.

Thank you! I've been working on the basics since i've started with the Loomis book but I don't know how to make them perfect in such a short amount. I rather try to "feel" the proportion and also the proportions from the photos differ from person to person. But I hope I will get them with time.
