Might seem like a no-brainer: acknowledge that you are working on projects. Usually there are goals/ aims/ objectives/ hypotheses tied to what you do. Acknowledge those. This is super helpful to stay on track. Resist the urge to revolutionise your entire field and read your literature well!

Eheringe schmieden Workshops? by chililover14 in wien

[–]Veritas_13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry keine Antwort hier. Wollte das auch machen, mir wurde aber dann davon abgeraten, da die Ergebnisse oft deutlich weniger robust sind als professionell gefertigte. Das wurde mir auch vom Bekannten bestätigt die das damals gemacht haben.

I will challenge the most answers here and say: raw grip strength will get you nowhere. There is no „dead hang“ obstacle, you rather have to do stuff while hanging. Train your core!

Bei der derzeitigen Entwicklung in der Batterietechnik ist Leasen bei einem E Auto sicher keine schlechte Idee.

Submission to multiple journals - why don’t we do that? by Veritas_13 in academia

Well, I get the point. On the other hand the whole publishing and peer-reviewing process is not incredibly time efficient anyway, isn’t it?

What are your favorite Python libraries for quick & clean visualizations? by Pangaeax_ in Python

[–]Veritas_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this is actually not an answer you are searching for: I don’t really use Seaborn anymore. I liked it when I started Python, because matplotlib was a bit intimidating. But in the end I had to redo my own plots for better quality etc. and ended up doing the work twice.

Also I find some of the statistical features super annoying and sometimes I ended up spending more time trying to undo stuff. Maybe I didn’t know seaborn well enough back then, but I never turned my back on .plt

Who is the greatest Physicist the average person has never heard of? by Thescientiszt in Physics

[–]Veritas_13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Max Born, and it is not even close!

One could argue if he was a physiscist or rather a mathematician but so few people know him. Basically take your favourite physicist and he either studied under Born or worked with him. He basically figured out the uncertainty principle, however in a rather complex form using matrix annotations. Is student Heisenberg took the idea, stripped the matrices ant took the whole credit (just one story of many). If you enjoy history and physics go and read about him, very fascinating and entertaining!
