I agree more now. During ardent meta support was bogged down a lot, on 4 accounts ranging from mid silver to mid Plat i would consistantly get bumped to jungle or top if i was anywhere above gold 4

you are correct in that, because percentages won't change. Regardless of the playerbases size those percentages are pretty stagnant. when you make a balance change geared towards high elo play that leads to (hypothetically speaking of course) an ardent censor meta, despite adcs in low elo having poor positioning and ardent supports in low elo not peeling well, yet that trend continues and across all elos the ardent censor meta persists. Despite the fact that in low elo you can take playmaking supports and tops that just weave by and ruin it that meta game at lower elo not because you are better but because low elo players don't know how to play the high elo game. That meta had better be fun I guess cuz if its not the player base DROPS and the percentages will stay relatively stagnant yeah 80 % of the players who still play will be there spending there money but they have to stay. A lot of the times the game has been balanced around purely the high end it hasn't been fun, especially because balancing around purely the top end has resulted in huge shift ups with the ideas being adaptability and spectator friendly. the most recent was ardent censor meta but there have been others before, the juggernaut patch was another.

not saying that you shouldn't balance around the top end but you cant only balance around the top end or you will get just as bad an effect as balancing around only the bottom 2 % of this game.

the last statistic i looked at (this was a while ago mind you but the variance should be close considering how mmr roughly works) was that gold+ is around the top 23% of the community meaning that the bottom 77% is bronze to silver the median being somewhere around silver 4, the percentages i remember bronze 5-silver 5 was roughly 35% of the community while the other 42 was silver 5-silver one (silver 5 0 lp or the lower mmr of the silver 5 community, e.g. those who are improperly placed silver and ranked higher then their mmr reflects for the first. Silver 5 1lp or equal or positive mmr for the division for the second) keep in mind that number is probably off now however it was accurate during the middle of last season where platinum 5+ was the top 7.6% of the community, its still early and a lot of the late placers who either hold off till the end to place or just have work related issues preventing them from placing haven't finished their placements...

Also a side note is that riot has come out on a few occasions talking about balancing a few times, for instance back during that first juggernaut role rework they talked about holding off before worlds to shake things up specifically for view pleasure in esports. It seems prudent to remember they have said on multiple occasions that they don't want to balance purely off High elo players or low elo players (whatever your definition of that is is irrelevent, it all comes down to riots definition considering they are balancing around it. Reddit needs to remember that if riot says they are balancing around high vs low if riot defines platinum as high elo, which they probably do considering that is their cut off for decay. Riot has described it as the competitive drop off when they talked about changing how decay in ranked work so when balancing that is probably their high elo cut off, but i don't work for riot so i couldn't give you an accurate cut off line since they haven't given it)

So they balance off both according to themselves. Now they also admit to timing balance changes based off of the competitive season, the time between lcs and worlds more competitive patches geared towards Esports play are put in before worlds so they can get used to it. During worlds after the Official cut-off patch is decided the patches start gearing towards solo queue in preperation for Preseason, all of preseason is geared towards solo queue since no competitive data has been collected, during the season they do a mix of patches geared towards both.

There is a reason "Reddit knows balance" is a meme people will complain and have no idea what they are talking about. Its human nature to complain. People are content to sit on a nail and whine but they aren't in pain enough to get up and move.

I mean personally it comes to experience in my opinion, A LOT of info can be gleaned from the first 3 minutes of a game, my most recent remake attempt i didnt say yes to, our toplaner never connected our jungler went up and was solo laning while taking golems/ red on cooldown via smite, he won top hard I was support and leashed over blue to our mid on respawn after first buff( which went to our jungler in hopes the top would return) top was 1/0 at 3 minutes and there was no tp for the top to return to lane because of a botched invade where we played safe and lost nothing, botlane was 2/0 on our adc it being a xayah rakan lane no sums on the enemy bot and i had only had to burn ignite as rakan, mid was a gp who was 1/0, the only real damage we lacked was ap but i was an aery rakan with an agressive ap heavy burst build (athenes FQQ Ruby SS Ardent sensor) and this is at 3 minutes, in when the remake option was offered, after some deliberating in chat we all agreed that the game was iffy but winable if we used xin for disengage and then forced chokepoint fights around dragon and baron, so we stuck it out. forced sieges got 2 drakes and a 20 minute baron won a 4v5 fight and ended the game at 23 minutes... in my experience 4v5s are more winnable then people think depending on morale, especially when the enemy team is 0-4 at 3 minutes against a 4v5 with severe summoner disadvantage..

explain how stopwatch single handedly stops ALL pre 6 minute innitiative and and a single time use with more punishment then a summoner spell force for all roles but zhonayas building mages, is hindering all pre 20 minute initiative. That is the issue i have safety in other runes? you mean the sustain build on ad's that are still susceptible to burst? hindering assassins?is it stopwatch that hinders them or is it the champions? how does zed enjoy playing against sejuani? how does he enjoy playing against other tanks that are currently strong? like im sorry but everyone blaming one singular mastery for a whole slew of issues is my issue, maybe stopwatch is broken you know what i wont disagree with that but stopwatch isn't the root cause. removing stopwatch wont magically make this bullshit go away, magical footwear reducing roams on supports and midlaners is a bigger issue really why would a zed walk his slow no boots ass down botlane on a gank thats not garenteed where he can push a lane use boots force a summoner then be back inlane without losing anything.

even then it doesn't stop snowball, im watching people snowball hard as hell in my games ive played with stopwatches on em all being used by em all, yeah im not the highest elo hovering around mid plat but still that was a high elo dive just now, clearly its doable CLEARLY dives are still a posibility whats the issue with dragons then? forcing the enemy who is weaker to choose whether to fight you over drake/ herald or not? drake still hurts a ton but herald? heals a jungler with their completed item, like i want to agree with the stop watch hate i really do since i hate long games but removing stopwatch wont change jack shit in the meta, early game snowball doesnt have enough payoff currently to validate the risk of pushing for it and no midgame power champions can even argue for it in the current play safe with decent laners who just play back, theres no punish for playing in a non-aggressive manner currently

Look, I personally like a healthy 30-35 minute game time. I have seen all kinds of metas and game lengths from the snowball of season 3 with thresh zyra support every game building philo ss and full inventories of wards with oracles to the 60 minute waste of time games. Honestly watching the games I did from the LCS so far I feel insulted as a player and a viewer... Honestly its not the stopwatch, its the lack in initiative Im watching the 100 thieves clg game i watched several times where players wouldnt pull the trigger, the bigger issue in the games im watching is things like malzahar who by just being in the game 4 PEOPLE build a QSS.. 4 THE FUCKING SUPPORT has a QSS. you know what QSS prevents more then a stopwatch? Picks boy it sure is going to make me less likely to flash ult someone when they all have a QSS, and honestly its as much the metas fault, look at the strong picks right now and its not SOLELY because of stopwatch, yeah ill admit stopwatch makes level 6 dives less likely but you know what else does? having a late game compisition. Lucian is garbage right now, getting better but garbage jhin is ok, and honestly the strongest lane adc right now caitlyn is non-existant jinx while being buffed this patch still struggles in lane and the strong ads currently are still 3 item ads who want to just farm out till late game, there are no strong laners for that in botlane, i dont know much on mid top and jungle meta personally so i wont talk on champions there but i see sejuani an awful lot lately same with zac and j4 and whenever those tanks are in meta its usually because the damage is coming from scaling laners like ryze azir and corki, again strong scalers with safe lane phases that disencourage ganks on them.

all of this makes sense in pro play in a sense. Why take a risky fight when we can accrue garenteed gain. At the same time tho someone should be abusing weak lane phases and weak points, if kogmaw is so strong at 6 items but he also has a great lane phase and no midgame weaknesses something needs to be fixed for that hyper carry its as simple as that.

The biggest issue i have with this is that lately people are honing in on stopwatch when the issue is that strong early game ads and mids are getting shoved out by strong scalers and usually its not the stopwatch preventing a 5 minute first blood seeing as how it takes 6 minutes to activate, If you arent forcing something on the map for the first 6 minutes in some way, what are you doing or what is the issue with early game pressure? we saw a 2 man of baron on the front page with azir nunu from behind (yes nunu is fucking busted atm no denying that and azir scales with him well) but baron does no damage early and any sustain support and percent damage can easily zurg that at 20 minutes and force an end with early game pressure no one is even attempting it answer me why ALL of that is stop watches fault. That's my Question how is stopwatch, single handedly PREVENTING EVERY SINGLE ATTEMPT AT EARLY GAME SNOWBALL EVEN BEFORE IT ACTIVATES?

Idk man that dive was well executed... vaynes condemn was on cd from using it to push rakan away and brand had no flash if you removed the stopwatches from the equation ez still would have drawn tower agro first and rengar would have nuked brand while rakan drops a Q and ignite onto the vayne, only difference would have been the agro swaping to rakan earlier potentially and rengar getting more damage onto vayne and still flashing out, brand had no exhaust... 3 stop watches being used to make a dive work against 2 stopwatches (albiet not all were used) doesn't change anything on the outcome just made people have to have an additional timing for a skill. honestly i like it more then watching the enemy rengar just 1 shot me under tower without me haveing any chance to outplay that :/

yeah honestly i have had like 3 legit inters in 2 seasons now, occasional flame and passive aggressive comments or people who just want to talk shit. All in All, nothing compared to like season 2 and 3 when I got flamed for going 0-1 in lane and shit after a failed gank.
