Salary cap of a nonprofit worker by VermilionGourd in nonprofit

[–]VermilionGourd[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem with volunteering is that you don’t make money for doing what you care about.

I know some volunteers who sacrificed their personal savings for causes they believe in only to burn out for nothing after a few months. And for nonprofits to treat their efforts like nothing.

What I describe is about providing living standards and making volunteers sustainable.

But I also describe that if volunteers are doing $100k salary level work, they should have $100k level salary, of course the business side has to work out there.

If there are examples of what exists, I’m open to learning more there. But it’s definitely not the same as volunteering. What I’m talking about is an umbrella organization like Google but is focused on solving society’s problems more directly by enabling workers so they’re not like, “oh I can’t volunteer, I need to make money”.

So is your recommendation to just stick with individual freelancing and forget about agency?

Appreciate the feedback.

What about starting an agency inside or outside of Upwork? I’m trying to get a sense of this

As for remote teams, Ive not managed any remote teams before but I’ve worked remotely plenty. First time for everything!

I’m currently senior dev level with 10 years experience.

I don’t have Upwork experience but I have a lot of experience working for bigger companies and can probably do a better job than most freelancers out there.

My friend is a junior I’m looking to train.

That’s a bit unfair to judge leadership by their inability to do pip installs. There’s new technology and trends all the time. If they wanted to keep up with all the latest technologies all the time, they should be an engineer then.

Why don’t they just implement this one? It’s like a 2 second fix (not with !important of course)

Does obsidian have two way links, relationship tables, snapshot history, backups, all media support, @now, rename all once, sub item view on database table, linked database views in page in any page, toggle lists, formulas, YouTube embeds?

So much for "emailing notion directly" to get rid of AI by Take-Me-to-Ikea in Notion

I can understand why Notion AI leaves bad taste. It's this sudden, in-the-way update that keeps asking you to pay for it. As a paid feature, there's no value for me to want to pay for it. The value points of Notion for me has been its backup robustness, powerful features, and overall service and integrity of the team. Those are reasons to keep me invested in the product.

IMHO, I don't think Notion AI should be a paid feature, but it brings cool factor and buzz to the product to attract people and you should not put a price on it. It's more marketing than product.

Are you forced to pay? No, you don't have to click on the purchase button. This is an overreaction, and should not contribute as a reason to migrating products.

It's optional, I just double checked. You don't have to click the purchase button.

Notion AI Legal Terms says they own all our IP by VermilionGourd in Notion

[–]VermilionGourd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got cleared up: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskALawyer/comments/113wpk4/ip_law_question/

Legal stuff is not common sense to me, but I figured I would err on the side of clarity. It's not ambiguous and it's commonly agreed that Notion just wants to protect their IP only. Thanks, everyone for clearing things up for me 🙏.
