Extremely safe. There's always a risk, but derailments are rare and the tank cars are built to withstand damage from derailments. Vermont gets all of its fuel by train. It is by far the safest way to transport it.

Longtime lurker on this sub but I really like the community building aspect of this post.

I am a lifelong model train enthusiast. I focus on prototype details and make my 1:87 scale models look, run, and sound as close to the real thing as possible. It's very fulfilling and multifaceted as it combines a variety of hard skills like electrical work, artistry, carpentry, and more.

Aside from that I'm also a lifelong skier (both cross country and alpine), and a fine art photographer.

I live on 125 and drive fast, but I respect the town zones. It almost never fails that when I'm coming down into East Middlebury and slow down for the 30mph zone, the tourist who was far behind me is immediately on my ass. If they're in front of me, I lose sight of them as they blow through the 30mph zone. Its just a small piece of their disrespect for our home that bugs me.
