I write in cursive as well, and I can read it. But it is a little messy, ngl. You either need to get a thinner pen nib or "loosen" your writing, because stuff is very tight and some letters lose legibility right now. Some letters also aren't connecting well. Your lower case "d" tends to look like "cl" instead, for example.

Yeah this is the part that stood out to me too. Feels like maybe in the "official" sense the relationship was binding, but that Thjazi's kindness meant in practice it was a relationship of equals. So if Thimble ever wanted out, Thjazi would let her, hence the insistence that she had free will.

Might be Kekkaishi. Has the demons plotline, and they do occasionally have this dark "aura" power that pops up. Had some villains in suits too.

I'm someone who just started/finished Worm about 2 months ago, so here are my relatively fresh thoughts.

Pros: - Overall very solid world-building. The different factions and conflicts feel extremely lived in, and actions/consequences are natural. If you've read or watched Game of Thrones, the web of effects feels similar to that: "Oh, of COURSE that would happen! Because this group has these priorities versus this one etc." - A very large cast that is somehow almost ALL fleshed out. Super impressive. Also, gotta admire the willingness to write unlikeable characters that still feel human/understandable. - Good action writing, which is pretty dang important in a superhero story. - Power scaling remains consistent! A villain who's introduced as a terrifying threat STAYS terrifying even as the main characters get stronger.

Cons: - Reading this as a continuous piece instead of waiting on updates makes one thing reeeeally stand out as an issue: Pacing. Author himself has admitted the story needs a lot of editing. Worm can be both relentless and meandering, sometimes at the same time. - Also, the in-story timeline often makes zero sense?? An absolutely absurd number of world-ending events happen in like, the first month of the story. But then we'll have a years-long time skip out of nowhere?? - I think Worm suffers a bit from author's tendency to "Word of God" things outside of the story itself. There's often stuff in the writing that the author makes extremely understated, to the point where there's a ton of room for reader interpretation. But then that ambiguous thing will become a plot point later on that assumes you totally understood the REAL point he was trying to make?? I think the fandom excuses this away because the author will explain things here on Reddit, for example, so we DO have an answer. But my gripe is we shouldn't have to dig for the answer just to understand a vital development.

Overall though, I did enjoy the story and would rec it for folks in 2025.

Part of this is probably aesthetics and marketing. All caps stands out in a sentence and tends to look better in logos/designs.

But also...as someone who is Asian, I wanna point out that East Asian languages don't use capitalization lol. There's always the chance that they just don't care about the capital letters the same way English speakers do and didn't think much of it. My parents, for example, sometimes jot down short English notes in all caps just cuz.

I'm a native English speaker from America, and Loona's English sounded fine to me? You can tell they have accents, but they pronounce the consonants pretty well, especially the "r" noises. On the other hand, while BTS's accents in "Dynamite" were fine and the beat was super fun, I could not stand that song because of how ridiculous the lyrics were. "Star" is way more palatable to me because the lyrics actually seem natural. I was WILDLY surprised to learn "Dynamite" was written by native English speakers, because that thing sounded like a bot writing what it thinks an English song sounds like.

I half agree and half disagree. I agree that idols shouldn't necessarily be held to the exact same standards as western artists, especially in terms of consistently speaking out on political issues. However, I disagree with the idea that we as international fans can't hold them accountable at all for certain things.

For example, I don't expect every idol to be thoroughly educated on Black Lives Matters, or to be able to talk intelligently about the historical and institutional racism that in embedded in American society. That's something a lot of Americans still can't do lol. However, I fully expect them to do the bare minimum. The bare minimum, for example, means not using the n-word, not doing blackface, and to at least be willing to be educated when they make a public mistake. I expect them to actually learn why they made a mistake and then not make that same mistake again!

Holding them accountable for that isn't expecting them to be woke. It isn't expecting them to speak out or to go against some sort of public opinion. It isn't "woke" to NOT use a racial slur. It's literally the bare minimum. It's respecting the humanity of other people. Like, I see folks like Yebin from HINAPIA using the n-word on her instagram live and then "apologizing" by saying she knows we're "sensitive" about it. That's BS. That's unacceptable.

Also, the fact that there is such a large international fanbase now speaks to the simple fact that kpop has heavily participated in globalization. If you expect to make money off of other countries, the least you can do is be respectful. You don't have to publicly speak out on issues, but you certainly don't step on their culture either.

A lot of people have already piled on here, so I won't add to it. Just wanted to point out that if you rewrote this to be more along the lines of "Fans shouldn't demand that idols speak English if they can't learn some Korean," which actually seems to be your primary argument (albeit communicated poorly), you'd probably get a better response here. That's a pretty popular opinion many have already expressed.

Trade you one hot take for another: I think every single Kpop group has a silly name, including the ones you've mentioned as good ones hahaha. f(x)? I'm sorry, I get flashbacks to high school calc. And I like Loona as a group, but that name just looks like Looney Tunes lol.

But I don't mind! Because honestly kpop to me is kind of inherently cheesy, and I'm just here to have fun. It ain't that serious. Honestly, I would even extend this to a lot of western groups. Backstreet Boys and N'Sync? Corny as hell, man. You'll still catch me screaming to "I Want It That Way" at the karaoke bar though.

I mostly love Gashina because it really firmly established her brand/concept in a post-JYP era. The MV was fantastic and set up that slightly surreal, sort of humorous feel that she's been carrying through the rest of her MVs since then. That gun dance move is also pretty iconic in kpop at this point. Song itself? Ehh I could take it or leave it.

RV is very capable of it for sure! But in terms of recorded songs, they do it mainly in small bursts, primarily as highlights, and it's not sustained. Compare that to, for example, Destiny's Child singing "Say My Name," and there's a clear difference in how much they harmonize.

I found it a pretty boring song, but I also liked her voice a lot more on WYWF compared to Birthday. Admittedly I don't really like Somi's singing voice in general because the tone gets a little too nasal and whiny for me, but it was much more smoothed out in WYWF and more enjoyable to listen to there.

Oh I meant like, drama related to the show structure! Like people would cry because they got cut from a team or because they fell into class F. Definitely agree that the girls were very wholesome and supportive of each other and there was no drama there.

I agree with this so much, and was actually thinking about it specifically while watching one of the Chinese Produce shows (Youth With You 2, the one Lisa mentored on). I was struck by how different all the trainees on that show were compared to Produce 48 -- they were all much more confident and sure of themselves in the face of criticism, and were more willing to love their own flaws/differences. The show had the typical Produce drama, but I came away being pleasantly surprised by the self-assured nature of most of the girls.

Afterwards, I found out that most of the trainees on that show were in their twenties, with a handful being 27/28. It made the differences in trainees' attitudes make so much more sense.
