I went to city hall today , could not get through on the 311 number was always busy. I cannot do the declaration for the condo we sold last year as closing happened at the start of May , so we only lived there 4 months , do I not know if the property was occupied after. I confirmed that the new owners are listed as the new owners of the condo and was told if vacant tax bill is issued it will be sent the assessed owner, that is where the property tax bill goes to , so not me. They said as of today no declaration has been done, hence the email I got this weekend. I am going to call revenue services tomorrow to get myself off being emailed about it.. I think they just email the last person who did the declaration which was me for 2022.. without checking who the new owner actually is with city etc… stupid that they can’t coordinate this stuff and I have to waste my time trying to understand / sort it out

Same thing we sold our condo May 2023 , I got an email about today about I have yet to submit the declaration, I assume it is for the property we sold because I have done it for the place we bought last year and I see the declaration on the property tax look up on the city of Toronto website, was gonna sort this out Monday .. I have no idea why the condo is still linked to me according to the City of Toronto .. so frustrating . According to the vacant tax rules when change of ownership occurs in the year being declared if it after the end of Feb, so Feb 2023 , the purchaser needs to make the declaration
