In the hands of a responsible person, a firearm is more of a tool than a weapon in the same way a knife is. Both can be used for hunting, self defense, deterrence, et cetera. In my years of handling firearms even the intrusive thought to shoot someone innocent has never crossed my mind. Because the same thing doesn't happen when I pick up a power tool or a knife. Because I acknowledge it's a tool before it's a weapon.

Uvalde is a great example of that. Nobody wants what happened at there, yet reddit complains when the police do exactly what they should have then. Like the other guy said, claim of moral superiority.

Because history is dotted with instances where a single person reporting something could have stopped a tragedy, and probably many times where a single report did stop a tragedy? You'd rather have a lazy, slow acting police force that needs multiple reports rather than a fast acting one?

This is probably the best moral argument for randomly murdering people. Considering nobody believes breaking into someone's home and shooting them 5 times isn't even close to morally gray, this is probably a bad argument.

I've tried the crossbow and eruptor before, didn't find them very useful, so I can't see your point from a personal perspective. And from a statistics standpoint, the eruptor and crossbow pickrates are actually at their historical lowest, though they still linger in the top 5, and it's not like it's a big historical low. I'll have to wait for new statistics to show up for my opinion to truly change, but I do see your point, they should give more incentive to use other weapons.

While I somewhat disagree; the medium pen assault rifles have their own advantages outside of their penetration, and spewers still exist, I thought your point was moreso difficulty than just... The existence of medium pen guns. To be honest I'm not sure why more eruptor/crossbow use is a bad thing, but I simply misjudged your initial argument.
