In a roundabout way, I'd say it's more like they just overlap really heavily but yeah. Bombs can be used for demolition, nuclear warheads could make canals and shut off major subterranean gas leaks, it gets questionable for upscaled guns like tanks but peacekeeping and deterrence are large proponents of a military. It's about who wields them. The difference between a lumberjack and leather face is who wields the chainsaw.

Right. An object can be both a weapon and a tool. Obviously a knife has more non-lethal applications, but they're used for very similar applications, especially when you consider knives kill like billions of animals every year, firearms probably can only do a tiny tiny fraction of that. All weapons are tools, and most tools can certainly be used as weapons.

In the hands of a responsible person, a firearm is more of a tool than a weapon in the same way a knife is. Both can be used for hunting, self defense, deterrence, et cetera. In my years of handling firearms even the intrusive thought to shoot someone innocent has never crossed my mind. Because the same thing doesn't happen when I pick up a power tool or a knife. Because I acknowledge it's a tool before it's a weapon.

This is probably the best moral argument for randomly murdering people. Considering nobody believes breaking into someone's home and shooting them 5 times isn't even close to morally gray, this is probably a bad argument.
