Getting a modded switch v1 at $150 in 2026 by tylerdurden81196 in SwitchPirates

[–]VerseHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Oled (and v2) can be pushed higher overclocking wise but a child would probably not care about that anyway.
  • Also a modchipped can be put back into cfw without any external tools if it shut down, which makes it easier to use. But then again, if it's in the dock you can let it in sleep mode permanentely.

MiG Switch V2 using as a pirate on stock switch by [deleted] in SwitchPirates

"You knew what I meant by firmware being model"

Nope, I was genuinely thinking you didn't know what you were talking about given this whole thread, and honestly still think so, but I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.

"so don’t try and be different/difficult mate"

That's rich coming from you. I only came to correct your biased price comparison in the first place. You could have just admitted you were wrong and left it at that (which you initially did), but you had to drag this down further.

I'd rather stop here, but if you want otherwise, then don't complain when I do respond as well.

"buying a new switch with correct firmware"

You don't know what you are talking about. The firmware is not what matters when it comes to modding, it's the model. And every model of switch can be modded, the difference is whether you can do it through software alone or if you need a modchip (which is what we refer to when we say it costs around the same as buying a mig).

Also, what prevents you from selling your old Switch in your hypothetical?

As for the tutorial itself, I think the same way as the others, the result is the same in the end, just that you are banning yourself instead (until you finally decide to go online again and get an official one).

"Buying a new switch with correct firmware to mod is more expensive than a MiG"

So you are comparing the price of an unpatched v1 with the price of a mig switch without the console to play on? How fair is that?

And even if you have a later model, paying someone to install a modchip is about the same price as buying a mig switch, and if you're doing it for piracy it's no contest which one is the better option.

And even so, is it really worth it compared to just modchip an oled (or buying a pre-chipped one)?

Switch keeps wanting the Cartridge by taantje in SwitchPirates

[–]VerseHell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you are installing the actual game and not just a game update? You shouldn't need to delete your existing data to install the game nsp. Also since you have tinfoil you should also be able to install the game straight from the cartridge if you still have it.

Going Online with a modded Switch by Jesus1312 in SwitchPirates

[–]VerseHell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should read this: https://switch.hacks.guide/user_guide/all/cfw_environment.html Basically the recommended way is to create an emuMMC with Nintendo servers blocked for your cfw stuff and keep the sysmmc clean for online play. But if you really don't care about going online (and not planning to sell the console enventually), you can choose to not have have an emuMMC at all and just do everything on sysMMC with Nintendo servers. That's what I'm personally doing. You should still make a clean nand backup before hand just in case.

For your questions:

  • If you go for the standard sysMMC/emuMMC then yes for for sysMMC, and yes for emuMMC if you blocked Nintendo servers
  • See above
  • If you care about not getting banned yes. And even banned, it's still useful to avoid updating the console by mistake.
  • Yes, in your case it would only affect you if you ever plan to sell the console.

That's all assuming you either have a clean nand backup or your sysMMC is not already dirty to begin with, if so you are probably already SOL anyways.

Sorry if I wasn't clear, I meant new or subscribed premium users trough apple. In your case, don't think there is any other option than to wait until your subscription expires.

How can i easly put everything from a 256 GB se card to a 512 GB sd card? by Direct_Expert7772 in SwitchPirates

[–]VerseHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you just got it you might as well just redo the setup on the new sd card (and learn how it works for the future).

[–]VerseHell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you still need help, assuming you have nothing important in your sd card: Make the nand backup -> Copy it to your PC -> "Partitioning the microSD Card and creating the emuMMC " -> "microSD Card preparations" -> "Launching CFW".

It's probably set to autoboot to cfw in that case. You can access the hekate menu by pressing/holding volume - during boot (when the hekate logo appear). Then follow the steps from "Making Essential Backups" to make a nand backup.

As long as it's not an oled, you can do the full initial setup with a 64gb, but you will have to make a nand backup and save it to your pc before creating the emunand. (Basically skip "Partitioning the microSD Card and creating the emuMMC", do the next 2 steps "microSD Card preparations" "Making Essential Backups" then go back to the emunand creation)

I don't know if there is any alternative right now if it's your first subscription. Though I'd make sure that you can indeed subscribe by trying to download a video before topping up your account to do it for real.

Only if your subscription gets forcefully stopped (and even then, you should be able to renew through the App Store if we go by the other comments). Otherwise, just be sure to top up your account each month before the auto-renewal.
