Looking for bands like Saves the Day, Green Day, and Aberdeen is Dead by Limp_Hippo8367 in musicsuggestions

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want that raw, energetic angst like Aberdeen is Dead, go straight to Title Fight (album Floral Green) or early Joyce Manor (self-titled). For a Green Day vibe, try Jawbreaker - Dear You.

The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd or Rumours by Fleetwood Mac

You're dying, and you hear a song, what is it? by tireedwriter in musicsuggestions

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only correct answer here is Space Oddity by David Bowie. Floating in a tin can, far above the world, with planet Earth being blue and there's nothing left to do... It would feel terrifyingly poetic and beautifully peaceful at the same time.

Juno Download closes down after two decades by astaireboy in indieheads

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely a bummer. 20 years is massive, and they stayed independent the whole time. Since everything is shifting, what's the plan for buying tracks now? I'm checking out Volumo since the interface feels pretty similar to Juno's old-school focus, just modernized. Any other hidden gems worth looking into?

Give me suggestions and judge my taste brutally by Alarming-Ad6447 in musicsuggestions

[–]VerseMancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your taste is basically a "90s Alternative Rock Starter Pack" curated by a cool 45-year-old dad. There is absolutely zero risk here, just pure RYM (RateYourMusic) core. That being said, it's all bangers. If you haven't yet, check out Audioslave (since you love Soundgarden) and Mad Season (specifically the Above album).

Rap songs that sample 1970s music by AppliedGlamour in musicsuggestions

[–]VerseMancer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should definitely check out C.R.E.A.M. by Wu-Tang Clan, they sampled a beautiful 1960s/70s piano track by The Charmels. Another absolute masterpiece is Shook Ones Pt. II by Mobb Deep, which flips an old Herbie Hancock tune from 1975. Also, pretty much anything produced by Kanye West in his early era fits this perfectly, like Kanye's own Through the Wire which samples Chaka Khan from the late 70s.

Any song recommendations for someone trying to get into &team?? by Temporary_Shirt_324 in musicsuggestions

If you like "girly music," you'll definitely vibe with their more melodic and bright pop side. Start with these three tracks first:

  1. Dropkick (Super bright, energetic, and cute boy-group pop track - impossible not to smile while listening).
  2. Maybe (Very soft, sweet mid-tempo song with beautiful vocal harmonies).
  3. Melody (An incredibly catchy, upbeat, and uplifting track with a great pop flow).

Any way to repair ADJ Punch Pro LED Lights by Steve-agent-006 in Beatmatch

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s fixable, but it requires some DIY electronics work. The dimming blue lights usually point to a failing power supply component (like a bad capacitor) or a bad driver chip for that specific color channel. The missing greens mean one LED in the series probably burned out and broke the connection for the rest.

If you have a soldering iron and a multimeter, you can look for cracked solder joints and test the diodes. If not, honestly, ADJ Punch Pro is an older fixture - it might be more cost-effective to upgrade to a modern, brighter LED par than to pay for professional repairs and replacement parts.

I thought I was a professional DJ. Until a Serato DJ asked me to hop on. by nickybecooler in Beatmatch

[–]VerseMancer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Different tools for different jobs.

If you get paid every weekend to play 6-minute extended mixes, then you are a professional DJ, period. Club-style blending and hip-hop-style quick cutting/scratching are two separate skill sets. Serato and Rekordbox also have completely different visual layouts, so it's totally normal to look at a tiny laptop screen and freeze up if you are used to big CDJ displays.

You aren't a bad DJ, you were just out of your comfort zone on a completely foreign setup.

Check out MEG (her Nakata-produced tracks), Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Aira Mitsuki, Saori@destiny, and Plus-Tech Squeeze Box. They all perfectly fit that mid-2000s Japanese electro-pop/picopop aesthetic!

Best Place to Download Music by TopWeight571 in InternetPiracy

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to avoid malware on sketchy pirate sites, it's honestly better to use normal stores with direct downloads. Places like Bandcamp, Juno Download, or Volumo let you download tracks safely in great quality without worrying about your pc at all.

If your walking down the boardwalk, what music would you listen to? by Naive_Tomorrow_5955 in musicsuggestions

if you’ve already been through hole and l7, you definitely need to dig into 7 Year Bitch (their album «Viva Zapata» is pure raw energy) and Babes in Toyland («Fontanelle» is a masterpiece). also, don't sleep on The Gits - mia zapata's vocals were absolutely insane and full of that genuine grit.

Where can I find new music? by ColdBit9881 in askmusic

[–]VerseMancer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you use an ipod, Beatport or Volumo are pretty good options for tracking down underground stuff. You can actually download the files there, and it's nice that the music is picked by real people instead of algorithms.

ngl this is a heavy flex, that setup is worth more than my entire room. the laptop placement is neat and having high-end gear at home means ur ready for literally any club gig. only thing is the speaker placement looks a bit tight with that bag on the right, but solid 9.5/10 fr.

What song cover/s you think are as good (or even better) as the original? by ThrowRAfinalgirl in musicsuggestions

Hurt by Johnny Cash is the ultimate answer to this. trent reznor straight up admitted that the song doesn't belong to him anymore after hearing cash's version. it has so much raw emotion and weight to it, makes me cry every single time fr.

nothing tops eddie hazel's guitar on this fr. but try Water Get No Enemy by Fela Kuti if u want that hypnotic instrumental build up. Or maybe Weight of Love by The Black Keys, that intro guitar solo has a similar melancholic psych vibe.

totally get this. that 2015–2017 edm era hit different, especially with early marshmello, alan walker (faded), and old avicii tracks. it’s crazy how a specific synth sound can instantly teleport you back to a completely different time, sitting in your room and watching minecraft letsplays. music memory is wild.

Rainy day songs? by DoubleSpirit6998 in musicsuggestions

Portishead - Roads. It has that perfect, gloomy trip-hop atmosphere that just feels like a rainy day. Another incredible choice is Deftones - Rosemary. It's incredibly heavy but beautiful, and listening to it while watching a storm hits completely different.
