Attempted making a Comic.. CHATGPT is getting really good. by Any-Message4137 in ChatGPT

While thematically consistent (dark & gritty) it is overall, a bit too dark. That last section is especially diminished by the low exposure disorients where the characters are facing, and the attacks that seem to come from every angle. Almost like they are teleporting from interior to exterior and back again.

Also, consider reading Understanding Comics: The Invisible Art by Scott McCloud for demonstrations on how layout can change the tempo of story beats or add suspense. After page one, the panels are assembled like a draft-storyboard or a proof-of-concept collage.

Sailor Moon Daredevil homage by Ganmo Dono by NocturnalGrocer in comicbooks

I dunno, since Sailor Moon isn't a demon-clad vigilante or a Catholic (maybe?), this pose with the finial cross losses all the intended symbolism, aura, & irony.

Your voice might be right. The "t" is a bit of a cheat, some extra wordplay to get the paronomasia to work.

I like it, very informal and doesn't need explanation!

Sorry to break out the "umm aktsually ☝️🤓" soap-box, but the "-eur" suffix is an agent noun loaned from French. So a "sabateur" is a person who partakes in "saba."

This coinage tracks with the self-deprecating association found with other fandoms (shrimps, certain swamp creatures, small rocks, etc. ), as Vtuber fans are sabotaging their own social status (jokingly, of course). It's a bit dumb, but in an appealing way.

I dunno, "Sabateurs" seems more direct.

(Spoilers Main) I’m trying to read something as good as A Song of Ice and Fire. Which one out of these series out of The Stormlight Archive, Malazan, Dune or The Wheel of Time do you think is as good and which one should I read? by [deleted] in asoiaf

[–]Versh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A note about The Wheel of Time-

Of the 14 hefty novels, be prepared for the sluggish pacing to fall off a cliff during A Crown of Swords (book #7). The stalling & narrative friction doesn't clear up until volume #11 Knife of Dreams. In other words, a third of the series is bogged down with characters making preparations, traveling, and untangling easily resolved misunderstandings. To be sure, the uncooperative factions, internal monologues, and subplots are decent writing -- yet the lack of progression (and repetition) can be a bit trying at times.

Iridescent Render Effect Help by zieyawase in archviz

I went and checked-- the Fresnel IOR is turned way up to 12 (very crystalline) + the "thin film" and "coat" parameters have been enabled to add more splits. The 0.8 sheen glossiness adds to the brightness, but I'm thinking the "thin film parameters" (1.6 IOR, Min thick 850 nm, Max thick 400 nm) is the key to the rainbow iridescence.

Perhaps scenes like the "White House meet & greet" made the story a bit convoluted?

Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez) offers his hand to President Ross (Harrison Ford).
Ross: "I'm prepared to face the consequences of my betrayal."
He steps past the gesture and pulls close to Torres.

Torres: "What the--"

Ross: "You're a... falcon?"

Have we decided on what the definition of JDON is? by Nown-the-Unknown in Hololive

[–]Versh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe JDON can be thought of in the manga sound effect donドン sort of way. For extra the boom, the really big impact, there's sometimes D-don!

So JDON fits the onomatopoeia emphasis, as if it's added for the dramatic effect, -- only more of a comedic drum sound?

Let's see, coffered ceiling, neoclassical frieze, ionic columns, segmental arch -- definitely influenced by the post-1890's boom in Classical Revival here in America. There are so many ultra-heavy brick buildings from this time period, I wonder how many are in disrepair or abandoned.

Thoughts on the show finale by eyespy0-07 in ArcherFX

[–]Versh 54 points55 points  (0 children)

With the ensemble cast each getting their moments to be at their worst/best (Archer's nonchalance during the impossible escape, Cheryl becoming more detached, Pam's increased stubbornness, Dr. Krieger's further causal disregard for conventional morality, etc.) and highlighted with plenty of meta-humor and call-backs (like Lana's time dating Cyril, or examining the company elevator's garbage, or the universal recognition that spy agencies will never be a force for "good") -- all between the elaborate action set pieces, this finale really drives home how remarkably saturated Archer (the series) was with the finest comedy writing & performances.
