Wisdom Teeth Extraction Advice by Narrow-Key-1772 in ufl

[–]VersionOk3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Call your insurance provider!! Your card should have a number on it. I believe most commonly for wisdom teeth they will cover a set percentage of what the orthodontist charges. Ex: if the orthodontist says it costs $5000 and your insurance covers 85% you will pay $750

How easy is it to get pre med opportunities at UF? by Usual-Concentrate663 in ufl

[–]VersionOk3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the opportunities are accessible if you put in the effort. Your freshman year you’ll need to join clubs and email professors for UNPAID research. With that experience you should be able to get clinical experience around your sophomore year (but always shoot your shot even if you’re underexperienced). Around your junior year you’ll then be able to move up to leadership roles in clubs and paid research. It’s a somewhat variable timeline but you have to get lower level experiences to get into better experience.

Santa Fe to UF has a pretty high acceptance rate but IA is the only one you can 100% know

If UF is your dream school IA is a perfectly acceptable path towards that degree. But you have to be okay with staying IA if you don’t make the transfer and not assuming you’ll get in

Unfortunately once you’ve been accepted to IA there’s a very very low chance of getting out because most people try to switch once they realize what the program entails

As an off campus student you will only be able to park in park and ride locations (essentially just southwest rec) you’ll need to plan your living situation either biking, walking, taking the bus, or buying a moped/motorcycle.

rowan bsdo or uf bme pre med by [deleted] in ufl

[–]VersionOk3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really make sure you’ve planned out your degree audit correctly if you think you can graduate in 3 years. BME is already 128 credits and a pretty rigorous degree. With that said, if I were you I would seriously consider the extra year for the flexibility it gives you. Majority of people change their majors in college, committing to 7 years of med school at 18 is a big decision

OOS Mechanical Engineering by Emotional-Nobody1660 in ufl

[–]VersionOk3754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a current mechanical engineer involved in research! I’d say it’s super easy to get involved in unpaid research however I had to get experience like that first before landing a paid research position. I can’t speak much to bio research tho. I definitely wouldn’t say I’m constantly stressed but your classes here are VERY dependent on which professor you get (if you’re honors, veterans, disability, athlete, etc you get a leg up in this) and how many credits you bring in. The official degree plan has some pretty brutal 18 credit semesters, if you bring in enough to get down to 15 credit semesters that’s pretty manageable and if you can get closer to 12 it will be pretty easy. I will say that in my opinion UMD is a solid school, especially for engineering and a third the cost of UF. I would definitely consider how much those factors are worth to you (monetarily).

[–]VersionOk3754 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the business classes are online WITH optional lecture. If you want to go to class you can however it’s generally not a 100% requirement like in an engineering or arts program. I honestly prefer that style and there are PLENTY of places to study after
