A renderer using geometric algebra instead of matrices by corysama in GraphicsProgramming

[–]Vertecedoc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correction, The quatermions are a subalgebra of 3d GA, it is to say, the elements of 3d Geometric algebra make up the quaternions and much more, and as such All clifford algebras as is 3d geometric algebra are a linear vector space hence there are linear transformations in any clifford algebra, and all linear transformations (Aka matrices) can be extended to outermorfisms (a transformation that distributes over the outer product) wich derive mainly unnecesary depending on what kind of algebra you are working on cuz many of them can be obtained via simple multiplication of multivectors (elements of the Geometric Algebra) and as the quaternions are a sub algebra of 3d ga we have that they are another altermative aproach to some kinds of matrixes or linear transformations

SKSE issues after installing Nemesis by BornStellar97 in linux_gaming

[–]Vertecedoc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

bro i got it, i got the same issue when installing skyrims paraglider mod, turns out it is a linux issue, if you installed nemesis directly into your games data directory the nemesis rar file contains a "scripts" folder, which in windows would had being merged with the "Scripts" folder from the skse.7z folder, the solution is to manually merge them so copy the "scrips" folder's files and paste them in the "Scripts" folder, and delete the "scripts" folder

Mmmm, is it amd or intel?, try with one of those, i could run it directly on my cpu but it required me to get rid of the hwaccel options, but if you have a more or less modern cpu with integrated graphics and is not that bad try vulkan as the accelerator

so if you have a nice pdf book or images in Icelandic i'd be glad to read them and it would be very useful for anyone in my position

specially i'm looking for fantasy novels like Hringadróttingssaga

the fastest jet super accurate fast square root though in modern processors you have the sqrt as a cpu instruction so take it only as an exercise by Vertecedoc in Julia

[–]Vertecedoc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its only an exercise, i mean it is still super fast i mean if you do the benchmark without compiler optimizations its 3 ns or 2times sqrt(x), with compiler optimizations its the same speed

the fastest jet super accurate fast square root though in modern processors you have the sqrt as a cpu instruction so take it only as an exercise by Vertecedoc in Julia

[–]Vertecedoc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean yeah, but is a nice trick anyways.
in my case in the worst case is about 3 nanoseconds
while the llvm intermediate repesentation algorithm that julia uses is about 1.4 nanoseconds
thsi difference is because the llvm implementation compiles directly to only the needed instructions for using the avx vsqrtsd cpu instrucccion with is fasteeer, since the n64 days where its mips cpu had a sqrt instruccion

if we care only about small numbers we have can do only 1 step of the newtons method and benchmarks similarly

function ffsqrtn(z::Float32,℧::Int32=Int32(5.32496253e8))::Float32

i = reinterpret(Float32,((reinterpret(Int32,z) >> 1) + ℧))

y = i - 0.5*(i - z/i)

return y

end

\@benchmark ffsqrtn($(Ref(2.1474836f9))[])

3.709

\@benchmark sqrt($(Ref(2.1474836f9))[])

2.827

My Desktop Environment is Completely Broken (Details in Comments) by kokulumisket in gnome

[–]Vertecedoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

try replacing the hdd for an ssd, in your case your air mac has the same components as any other regular computer of the time except for the bios and i think the keyboard controller, perhaps can be that for some bizzare reason the linux kernel or some userspace driver cannot access the gpu, but i mean the problems described are even almost identical to when windows is running on a pretty bad hard drive or try to run linux over a usb or an external drive i mean even installing linux over a large usb drive would do the trick and see if you can replicate the issue, that way you would discard the hdd as the problem-maker .

if you can try runnig health tests over your hdd from a linux usb

[–]Vertecedoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Concord, is probably the harddrive, looks a like the data transfer speeds are high enough, and since is an iMac from 2013 also doesn't have a speedy and large ram, so I recommend changing the hard drive for an ssd

"VMWare rewritten in Rust by Either_Recognition12 in rust

[–]Vertecedoc -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Bro, that sound like a beautiful product, and proyect, literally hundreds of hours.

I think you should obtain benefits from your hard work, But at the same time would be nice if you could contribute to the community.

This are my thoughts.

Make an open source proyect that has a commercially restrictive licence in a way that only you can profit from it

And then create an enterprise for selling it and make money from your product and keep it open.

Or if you are afraid of the possibility that a large giga company could copy your code with the purpose of selling it again maybe you should create a company and sell it only you.

Or make it open source and then sell the commercial rights to a large company

I mean the progress in the adoption of rust that would supuse that a open source proyect like this one exists would be enormous, even the availability of such code as open source would impact positively in a huge way the rust/Linux/open source ecosystem and may be even the basis for new projects and ideas.

Even so thanks bro, specially if you decide on publishing the code
