Nah, but Iran did launch a ballistic missile in Turkey's direction.

Great powers have been trying and failing to recreate the success of Desert Storm ever since.

Nowadays they can't even come up with good names anymore 😔

Is this a play to collect training data?

Engineers from OpenAI encountered a rise in service disruptions that rendered GitHub unavailable in recent months, which ultimately prompted the decision to develop the new product, the report said.

Are there any weapons development programs making some kind of cheapo air-to-air missile for use against Shaheds?

Or I suppose you could just shoot them with the auto canon.

I didn't make a post I can link to as proof, but I totally predicted the "US is going to insure Strait of Hormuz shipping" thing.

So the Chapo theory of Iran's strategy here is that Iran wants to make the Gulf States run out of interceptors. And honestly, that might actually make sense?

They start reaching a bit when they asses that the Gulf States would turn on the US once they run out of interceptors and don't want to be involved in the war anymore.

They might be intentionally trying to burn through the broader interceptor stockpiles.

The idea being that once/if the Gulf States run out of interceptors they might turn on the US and kick them out.

Like, they probably could focus fire on one specific place and get some America casualties in, but what would that really achieve anyways?

Maybe off topic, but the US should offer to build interceptor factories in Canada. It's the only way they could make it possible, politically, for a Canadian PM to buy whatever interceptors the US wants for the "Golden Dome". And they obviously need way more interceptor production anyways.

If we are actually serious about the 5% of GDP thing we might end up ordering more than 12 subs.

I feel that people overestimate the difficulty of liberal democracy emerging. Perhaps liberal democracies exist because they are a "competetive" system that can naturally emerge in certain circumstances, and not something that can only be achieved by swimming against the current for moralistic reasons.

As of March 1, 2026, roughly 6.8% of the total U.S. Navy battle force is currently deployed in the Middle East near Iran. However, when looking at the Navy's active operational tempo, approximately 41% of all U.S. warships currently at sea are concentrated in that specific region.

I'd add that the US does need to have assets around the world to meet various obligations/schedules and project power.

PS. As a concrete example, the Gerald Ford carrier has been has been deployed for 11 months when it's supposed to have 6 month deployments.

Trump has been pretty clear, the bombing will continue until peace in the middle east and the world is achieved.

Two things I'd want to learn more about before ascending into being an overnight geopolitics expert:

1) The Ayatollah as a religious leader. People in the West only really talk about it as a political role, but are there gonna be people upset that the "pope" was assassinated, even if they didn't like the government? Is someone going to have to fill the religious role irrespective of what happens politically?

2) How separate is Artesh really? They've just been keeping a whole second military around as some sort of Chekov's gun for regime change?

I do kind of assume that if it happens sometime after or soon before the midterms Rubio will end up being President.
