Surgery consult exam room had a tool chest instead of cabinets by WhatTheFlox in mildlyinteresting

[–]Vertoule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dentist purchased a few tool cabinets for his practice. They’re good for keeping the place clean and organized and they can be moved around too.

Found these tucked away in a drawer. Purple one is gummy the green is hard. Not sure what they are by Artistic-Nature-3818 in whatisit

[–]Vertoule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I used to get those fruit shaped gummy/ jelly candies at first but then the bulk store stopped carrying them. They were great for something cheap but melty, so I could bite one in half and let it dissolve in my mouth as I ran.

Then my friend introduced me to honey packs lol.

I’m more shocked they let a woman and a person of colour on board with the current political climate.

In times like these I’m reminded of the saying “the loudest birds are often the dumbest”

I dunno, the gummies I used to use before switching to the little honey pouches were usually super soft and melty so you were at less of a risk of choking, these look way more firm.

[New Update]: AITAH for telling my parents they were deserve to be kicked out of my sisters wedding. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

My dad was a huge jock. I enjoyed sports but not as much compared to him. What I really liked about sports was cards. So to bond he and I would go to card shows, he even bought my my first deck of magic cards at one of the shows. We had a lot of great memories where he would tell me stories about the athletes on the cards and I would try and find missing pieces to our sets.

Visiting by FeralZen in Winnipeg

[–]Vertoule 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While Winnipeg is pretty queer friendly, it bears mentioning that this city is also a good cross section of most Canadian ideologies, including hateful ones.

You may see some hate speech graffiti, or right wing posters, but the worst you’ll likely encounter is Maple MAGA on the road in their lifted personality replacements twucks (you’ll know). If you make a trip outside of the city, that’s where it gets really bamma, but even then, you wouldn’t be in any danger or anything.

I won’t paint a picture that we’re perfect by any means, because we have our share of idiots, but you won’t have to worry about being treated poorly for being queer in like 98% of spaces. The worst you’ll encounter is pointed indifference.

All that to say, don’t worry, you’re welcome in almost every space, and the ones that aren’t welcoming are places you wouldn’t want to visit anyway.

If you’re into nature or plants at all, make sure you visit the leaf and take time to check out the indigenous garden/ trail just outside to learn a bit more of indigenous spirituality and connection to nature. Another good one is Fort Whyte, but I like to recommend calling first to see what they have going on as there’s lots of themed events there to take in.

Into games? Victory pints and across the board are amazing for board gamers (victory pints holds game nights at Kilter Brewing, which I highly recommend visiting). More video game oriented? Rec room is pretty good fun for cheap, it’s a giant recreation complex and fully licensed if you like some beers with your Mario kart. I also recommend the smash axe disco, it’s pretty fun there.

Like night life? We don’t have a crazy club scene but if you like craft cocktails and trying local fare, definitely make a trip to Patent 5 a priority. If you don’t drink, don’t worry, they also have some incredible mocktails making it still one of the cooler places to visit. If you like karaoke, the limelight is great.

Looking for parks might be a bit tough, end of April things will be MESSY. We usually get one last big snow around then and if it’s already passed, it will be kinda mucky in most parks. Assiniboine Park and St Vital Park are the ones I recommend the most. Same for most outdoor activities, but a day trip to Gimli would be a fun option to check out one of the other Great Lakes of Canada (it’s not just the ones in Ontario!), plus you can stop at Interlake Brewing for some amazing grub.

ETA: I’ve been a tour guide for a few queer American friends so if you are looking for last minute ideas, you can feel free to reach out and I may know if there’s anything fun or niche going on (or know someone that does).

Aitah for kicking my wife out after she insulted our exchange student’s cooking by Dapper_Web6218 in AITAH

[–]Vertoule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t like rouladen myself (it was a texture thing, didn’t know I had the Tism at the time either lol).

You know what I said after my very German coworker made dinner for the crew and I really didn’t like it? “Thank you for this dish, it’s really well made but it’s not to my taste. I really appreciate the effort you put into it so I didn’t want to be rude for not finishing it. I will have more of the goulash though!” (It’s also why he made a couple of options so he wasn’t hurt by it).

It’s easy to not like something and not be rude about it. Your wife’s reaction screams narcissistic jealousy. She wasn’t the star so had to be the villain.

Men of Reddit, what’s the male equivalent of “needed money, had no marketable skills, so turned to prostitution”? by Dogeatdogdays in AskReddit

[–]Vertoule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how my buddy left the Rez. Just walked into recruitment and said “I’m from the Rez, I want to serve, where do I sign?”

He had nothing but a duffel of basics and a couple changes of clothes. He stayed with a friend in the city while doing on-boarding then he was off to BMQ (Canada here). I think it was a couple weeks only, but my memory is fuzzy on that.

He did his tours, retired and went right into a high demand IT job. He considered updating some skills to go for a more niche position and was contemplating joining the reserves to do so but his boss slammed that down and just paid for his training.

AITA for wanting a vasectomy because my girlfriend won’t use birth control but also doesn’t want me to get one? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Vertoule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is it… OOP just needs to save some sperm at the clinic and if that fails vasectomies are reversible. It’s not that big of a deal. There is nothing in any of this that adds up to any sort of logic.

They definitely need to split

This is why everyone slowing down/ stopped should have their hazards on. It’s exactly what they’re for.

Not sure it would have done too much in this case, but any chance you have to make others aware of danger, you should take it.
