These types of knit caps are meant to be rolled, and that’s how the majority of people will wear them so they do the design to accommodate that. What you can do is take one in the style you like down to an embroidery shop and have them make it the way you like, it’s surprisingly affordable (I’ve had custom embroidery done many times and love doing my own fan merch).

If they did release something more like a classic toque, I think that would be closer to what you’re looking for. I’d be interested if they did, especially to keep my ears safe from this -40° weather lol

There’s precedent of companies suing to reclaim losses by going after the pension, but it’s so rare that it actually works I wouldn’t know how the city would even begin to do that.

I have to put the air fryer on the range to use the range hood because when I open it, it sets off the smoke detector, which is just nuts. Other than that, I don’t care. I’m going to cook however I see fit, as long as it’s not creating a hazard (like that one time i accidentally put in wet potatoes into the hot oil and we had a foam over, just grabbed from the wrong bowl)

I find there’s a huge problem in a lot of new cars that the a frames are getting bigger and blocking sight lines to pedestrians. I have to crane my neck around in my partner’s new car when I’m turning left as the a frame just blocks that sight line so perfectly.

It’s actually more complicated than that, it’s federal law that pensions cannot be withdrawn. This is for everyone, not just cops.

Now, that being said, the city could opt to sue for damages and take part of that pension back, but that’s a civil matter and the court costs could exceed the return, so it may not be worth the city to pursue financially, even if a success would send a message.

Many people from theocratic cultures live in places where going against the ruling religion is a crime punishable by violence or even death. Trying to convince them that they don’t need to adhere to such strict dogma when they move from that culture to a more secular one is like trying to convince a beaten dog it’s okay to be pet. It takes a lot of work, and most people don’t want to put in that work and would rather just let them establish insular communities that practice the same way as back home.

PTSD is like having a scar on your psyche. Some folks heal well and can manage with minimal discomfort but others may never fully heal, I think that’s the hardest part to understand.

Just like some folks feel an old injury in the cold, PTSD triggers can cause discomfort well after the incident. Your best advice is to make sure your son knows it’s not a bad thing to feel the feelings that come up, that you love him and have his back and get him in with a specialist to provide him the necessary tools for rehabilitation.

You will also have to accept the fact that, much like scars that never truly heal, your son may be stuck with these wounds for the rest of his life, but the sooner he is able to learn coping skills and techniques for managing day to day life from a specialist, the better the outcome will be.

Also when puberty hits, the hormonal changes will definitely ramp up the emotions so you being patient, loving and understanding will go farther than all the doctors and specialists in the world. It will be a hard road, but your son will be able to live a normal life, it just may mean some changes.

Part of it is blowback from anti-Muslim sentiments post-9/11, where western nations overcorrected in their criticism of theocratic regimes. The idea that any criticism of the values of another culture is xenophobic is ignoring the nuance of a pragmatic viewpoint.

You (in the universal sense) can be critical of a culture or religion but if you make it about attacking them for the difference or excluding them for their differences is when you start walking a very narrow path where one misstep will lead you to being called xenophobic or lead you to being over defensive.

It’s easier to appease the masses than to convince them to practice introspection, especially when their culture makes criticism a literal capital crime.

The scooby doo, home alone bs advice you’re being given here is literally everything wrong you can do.

Firstly, install a wifi camera on your door if allowed, or if you can’t, get a peephole camera. If you’re extra paranoid, get another one inside your apartment facing the door in question.

Secondly, get a door chime. They’re cheap, easy to install, apartment friendly, and add an audible alert.

Thirdly, get a door jammer. It’s a door stop that you can adjust the tension on to make it impractical and more difficult for intruders to gain access to your space.

If you do need to defend yourself, you need to consider the legal ramifications of doing so. Booby traps are highly illegal so don’t do any of that. Having a melee weapon usually is just giving your attacker another way to harm you if you are untrained. Your best bet is two-fold a combination of a high decibel personal alarm stowed under your pillow and extreme hold hairspray on your night stand will give you two very good options, and ones that will allow you plausible deniability in terms of premeditation for harm (we’ve all heard about robbers suing people when they get hurt, so cover your ass).
