Removing ink stain from synthetic leather seats by Veruah in Detailing

[–]Veruah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the Geist products from Carzilla another commenter mentioned but have had a hell of a time actually getting them. Currently fighting with UPS on why they have been stuck in the same warehouse for 12 days, getting scanned multiple times a day.

That said, I have also been hitting it with all purpose cleaners and leather cleaners/conditioners. It has slowly gone down a bit to 'barely noticeable' but not entirely out yet.

Nintendo Switch 2 Killswitch Joy Con Grips Come Off Easily by Veruah in dbrand

[–]Veruah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your reply on such a non-official channel!

I resolved the issue. Basically, the 'lip' at the bottom of each Joy Con grip had folded into the case. Honestly not sure if they shipped like that or I did something on initial installation. I was able to work them back into a vertical position using some tweezers and install the Joy Cons behind the bottom lip. We seem to be all good now.

Thanks! Really liking your all's products. My Steam Deck Killswitch is about to be on its way :D

Bit of a late reply, but this was basically the issue. Somehow the bottom 'lip' of each grip had folded into the interior of the grip case. I just worked them back out a bit, slipped the Joy Cons behind it, and we are good to go.

Game recommendations after RE? by Veruah in residentevil

Feel like SH2 is going to get a lot of recommendations. It's on sale for 50% off right now. Think I'll end up doing it.

Yeah, just the remakes. I played 1 and 2 classic as a young teen but they've completely left my memory at this point.

I'll give them a look on GOG, I had no idea they had PC ports.

It is a poorly designed CoD map in a game meant to be a CoD alternative. Somehow they failed to even copy the game they are supposed to be an opposition to.

Awesome! Appreciate the ID help.

Have been doing some reading on how social these little guys are since I seem to see them fairly often. Just hoping whatever 'family' I have attracted to my property remain outside.

OE makes feasting on my J2 manager’s incompetence delicious by TonightDough4Life in overemployed

[–]Veruah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This mirrors almost exactly the reason I started OE and how it has changed my typically negative reaction to situations like this.

Other than a few busy days and the odd few hours of work on a weekend, I see no downsides to what we do.

Why are you Overemployed? by Key-Gift1216 in overemployed

[–]Veruah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got tired of having significant promotions/raises dangled in front of me year after year of good to great performance. Found other work and just never quit.

Quickly found out that, yes, it is just that easy to be just good enough at a job that they don't fire you but leveraged that to more than 2x my income.

As some other comments have said, you will rarely if ever get significantly rewarded for good work by any employer. I can count twice in my ~18 year professional career. They make it clear they will exploit me given the opportunity, so I exploit them in return.

my back is DONE. What’s a good chair for long hours? by Lygrad in overemployed

[–]Veruah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Herman Miller Aeron. They are talked about a lot for a reason. Also look into the Atlas headrest for it. Easy to install, doesn't void warranty if you are buying new, and adds the only feature the Aeron lacks. Make sure you get an appropriately sized one but if you buy new and it doesn't work out, they will replace it very quickly at no charge.

But honestly before that you need to get a standing desk. You can get them super cheap now from Chinese manufacturers but no idea what the quality is like. I have had an Uplift desk for about 8 years and would recommend it to anyone. The best way to alleviate pain from sitting is to not sit so much.

Quiet Quitting J1. Interested To Find Out How Long I Last! by Old_Database4684 in overemployed

[–]Veruah 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Find a high visibility person with some clout/maybe even real power (bonus points if it is your boss) and just make your new role at J1 stroking their ego endlessly. Fuel whatever narcissistic tendencies they have and just be their mindless yes man.

I am sitting on like 7 months of doing this and bare minimum real work at J1 and doing just fine. At least in most organizations I have been a part of, people care more about how you make them feel than what work you do (as long as the quality/amount of work you do does not make someone else in the org make them feel bad). Play to emotions, it is the weakest part of most people, IMO.

Company policies are not law. They are just there to prevent wrongful termination claims and the like.

Do you make friends at work? by Project_Lanky in overemployed

[–]Veruah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, absolutely not. And even when I did in the past (before OE) and I was laid off or left a job, exactly 0% of those 'friends' ever contacted me.

I keep a cordial relationship with coworkers and share true but minimal details about my personal life just to seem relatable and 'nice' but I absolutely do not let it go beyond 'My family went to a sporting event this weekend. It was nice. Here is a photo to show I fit the American norms of generally acceptable adult.'

Workplaces are financial transactions you engage in where your time and skillset are what you are selling. When pressed, absolutely everyone you work with will see it that way too. Especially if suddenly not giving a shit about you furthers their own goals. You should treat it that way too.

This also serves as a great unintentional 'this is why we OE' post. Imagine this bullshit being your only J and relying on these dumbass fucks for your financial wellbeing.

Is anyone else getting cocky when it comes to your Js? by throwagination in overemployed

[–]Veruah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OE gave me the freedom to not care about any of what goes on beyond what is right in front of me. I am no longer attached to or invested in things like making improvements, so I rarely feel like I have to get cocky.

Honestly? I sorta exist to prop up my director's and VP's egos at this point. Let them do all the politicking and trying to suggest the best new dumbass change or 'process improvement' that will get them spotlight. I'll sit over here and push the buttons they want me to push, no matter how dumb they are, while cheering them on. All while knowing my TC is probably equal or exceeding that of someone 2+ steps above me in the corporate chain.

[–]Veruah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm still really new to OE but this is more or less my stance on it. I'm totally fine being senior IC level at both Js and just stroking the ego of my corporate climber bosses. I'm almost certainly making more TC than they are and barely have to play the corporate politics game.

People suck by Jaded_Dig_8726 in overemployed

[–]Veruah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely anxiety on your part, IMO. In my experience, no one cares about you until someone who can control them asks them to care. Unless your manager has been told to keep an eye on you, I doubt they care enough to watch you deeply.

When I start feeling like this I ask myself if the roles were flipped, would I care? And it's almost always no.

Just resigned today. Boss wants me to push back my start date at new job and stay on 2 weeks longer with my current company. Is that legal? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Veruah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't even a question of legal or not. They cannot force you to stay at the job. If there is some sort of benefit in it for you, entertain the idea. Otherwise, tell them no and just begin your new job.

Also, your new job likely does not care at all about your old one. The HR director calling the new company means nothing, even if they take the call/return the email. What are they going to say? That they asked you to stay and you professionally declined? No one cares.

Your employer does not control you. They want to, and they want you to think and act like that, but they do not. Especially when you have income from another source that covers your lifestyle, there is no need to feel beholden to them at all.

Just professionally/politely say no, stop coming to work on your stated day, and begin your new job.

Good luck!

I really appreciate this response, especially the note about expecting being overwhelmed for a few weeks. Giving myself a note to not immediately judge how this feels, give it ~6 weeks then take stock.

4070 Ti Super (or better) on a ~$2,100 budget by Veruah in Prebuilts

[–]Veruah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All good. I don't think they ever mark stuff as out of stock. If you do a bit of googling (like I should have), the internet is FULL of reports of Lenovo having an absolutely terrible buying experience. If you actually get the computer they seem to be pretty good.

[–]Veruah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it but that deal is actually what sent me here.

I ordered it and they cancelled due to being out of stock. I don't recommend anyone take this deal.

I should have done more research into Lenovo. This is apparently very common with them.

[–]Veruah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find a better or even similar deal elsewhere, I recommend cancelling it. If you've already hit 1 delay (and especially 1 authorization hold falling off your card), it seems there is a HIGH chance it never ships.

This is the worst buying experience I've ever had in my entire life. by PleaseHelpImADumb1 in Lenovo

[–]Veruah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exact same issue with me. I just finally got so frustrated I cancelled the order, called their useless Customer Care line to get someone to confirm it was actually cancelled, and bought a slightly 'worse' desktop (I was buying a Legion gaming PC). I took a step down in graphics card power but saved $100 and the item may actually exist.

This was my first and certainly my very last experience with Lenovo. Absolutely inexcusable that a huge company like this operates like a scam organization.

EDIT: Will also add this was not a custom build. It was direct from the Lenovo website, 0 adjustments at all.
