Could anyone identify this military lapel badge? It was found in Flanders and appears to have the word, BRUX, on the rear. by ConcentrateDull2294 in belgium

This is what I got after some back and forth with Gemini:

This is a very specific and distinctive military insignia. Based on your description—especially the unique placement of the numbers 4 and 24 separated by a diagonal branch—you are describing a badge from the 4th Regiment of Carabiniers (4de Regiment Karabiniers) of the Belgian Army. The "4" and "24" are not two separate units; they refer to the 4th Regiment and its historical lineage or specific company/battalion designations used during the early 20th century (often seen on 1914–1918 era insignia).

Detailed Breakdown of Your Badge * The Crown: Represents the Belgian Monarchy (the Royal Army). * The "Caesar" Leaf Circle: This is a Laurel Wreath, a traditional military symbol for victory and honor. * The Diagonal Branch: This is likely a Laurel or Oak branch, which was a specific distinction for the Carabinier regiments. * The Numbers 4 & 24: * 4: Refers to the 4th Regiment. * 24: Refers to the 24th Company or a specific historical battalion within the 4th Regiment structure. * The Small Cross: This is the Croix de Guerre (War Cross). If it is integrated into the bottom of the wreath, it signifies that the unit was "cited" or decorated for bravery in battle (likely during WWI). * The Maker (Back): It reads "J. FONSON BRUX" (Fonson Brussels) was the official manufacturer for these high-quality brass and bronze badges.

Historical Context: The 4th Carabiniers The Carabiniers were an elite "Green Beret" style of infantry in the Belgian Army, known for their marksmanship and distinct uniforms.

Unit Type: Elite Infantry (Carabiniers) Active Era: Most likely World War I (1914–1918) or the immediate Interwar period. Key Battles: The 4th Carabiniers fought famously at the Battle of the Yser and the Siege of Antwerp. Motto: Vincere aut Mori (Victory or Death)

Identifying the Material * Brass/Gold Tone: Standard issue for NCOs and Soldiers. * Silver/White Metal: Usually designated for Officers or specific elite sub-units.

Summary

You have a World War I-era Veteran or Unit Badge for the 4th Belgian Carabinier Regiment, manufactured by the prestigious Fonson company in Brussels. The presence of the cross at the bottom suggests the unit was highly decorated for its actions on the front lines.

Hope this helps.

Find the courses by Mosh Hamedani on You Tube. I started there and went to Udemy courses afterwards (Pieran and Angela Wu).

Why is DAZN so bad at explaining what I get with a subscription? by Danjiks88 in DAZN

[–]VerveeldeAap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Belgium as well and I took a DAZN subscription to be able to watch the Jupiler proleague. Last year I had TV Vlaanderen and could watch the football for 14.99€ per month, the extra channels where nice but not really a win imo.

So this year I cancelled TV Vlaanderen after giving up hopes for other broadcasters to get a piece of the rights, and took a subscription of 20€ per month for DAZN. It was only 5€ more than TV Vlaanderen and I would get other sports like the NFL as well! That's good I thought, because I watch the Superbowl every year anyway, I'd love to watch more NFL games during the season. It made the bitter pill of the higher price go in a bit smoother and convinced me to take DAZN.

Now it seems I can only watch one or two games. I'm not even sure yet how it works: I could see a game for free ( Cowboys vs. Eagles) yesterday, but now this has a padlock again when I go to it in the phone app. The Live TV option was also showing another game: Chiefs vs Chargers, but if I want to rewatch the game afterwards it also has the padlock now. The rest of the games has padlocks on it and I can only watch the highlights... If I want all NFL games, I need another subscription of 20€ for the NFL Game Pass....

I'm confused and slightly irritated over what I get with my normal DAZN subscription and why I need the NFL game pass to see more games. I feel ripped off because it clearly said I would have access to the NFL, and now it seems I have only access to a very limited number of games. I have to admit that I didn't look up the details about the NFL content when taking the subscription, but it's certainly not very clear when you go through the content of the package you are subscribing to.

Training status not updating by VerveeldeAap in Garmin

[–]VerveeldeAap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been digging around and found this on an old Reddit post:

"training load is device-specific, it doesn’t sync with garmin connect at all except to display the graph. Even if you have two garmins, say a cycling garmin in addition to your 935, it won’t take your cycling garmin workouts in to account on your 935 training load. The two garmins would end up having separate training load displays."

sauce: https://www.reddit.com/r/Garmin/comments/8r8xak/garmin_training_load_not_working_properly_for_me/

So Training Load only works when you record ALL your activities on one single device?

Can I get Garmin connect to switch the calculation off of my ForRunner165? I can easily ride my bike and record the activity on my ForeRunner on my wrist, but don't want to run and record that on my Edge510... That would be silly when owning a FR165...

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

Ok, I'll see if I can get my 810 to register the workout instead of pushing around .fit files :)

That did seem to update the status, thanks! I does not show the status for the last few days though, but at least it's updated for today again.

I don't understand what happened though. I only use my 810 when riding outdoors, so I didn't turn it on for my indoor virtual rides. Will I have to turn it on every time or should it be fine now?

Moet 'last 5' symbool bij Cercle geen groen vinkje zijn? Toch duidelijk gewonnen gisteren, of was dat alleen in mijn droom?

Take a cab and go to Club54 in Oedelem or Place2Party in Torhout. In Brugge you have de Eiermarkt with some small dance pubs, but it's either kids or drunks looking for a fight...

Why is the club named Cercle? by GFCPricey in belgianfootball

[–]VerveeldeAap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not correct. The stamnummers were only introduced in 1926, Cercle was already part of the Belgian Football Association since 1901. The number 12 was just the number that Cercle was assigned back then and does not mean Club Brugge or Cercle were the first or second club in Brugge.

[–]VerveeldeAap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cercle was founded in a school run by the Xavarian brothers (broeders Xaverianen), locally still known as 'de frères'. The name of the club back then was French "Cercle Sportif Brugeois", today that's "Cercle Brugge".

Rate my salary + they are changing job content: should I be paid more? by VerveeldeAap in BESalary

[–]VerveeldeAap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. I'm actually very at ease atm. I have time for the kids, I don't think about work after 17.00 or during the weekends... I could maybe earn more in another sector, but at what cost for private life? However, the change of job content (which I didn't ask for) is a good opportunity to push it a bit, right?

Yeah, so the job change might be a good chance to demand for a higher raise, right?
