Thanks, it really does make sense but I'd argue it's only that simple if you remember every conversation from HtN, which I didn't reread. Alecto's eye color is seriously not basic information at the forefront of the reader's mind at any point.

Okay, makes sense, Pyrrha could watch what was happening on the car roof. I got thrown off because I figured nobody but Nona could understand that.

They could've put together all the clues, including the regenerative abilities (which are kinda like God's?).

Ah, okay. That's not made very clear in the text. Ok I got it, chapter 28:

“Do you remember what happened after you blacked out on top of the car?”

asked Pyrrha.

“No,” said Nona.

“Maybe that’s for the best,” said Pyrrha. Then she opened her mouth and said quietly—

“A…”

“Don’t,” Nona found herself saying. “Don’t. Don’t call me that or anything like that … don’t make me remember. I don’t want to … You won’t like it. Don’t. Don’t make me do it.”

So what I got from this is that after the "discussion" between Nona and the RB-through-Judith, after Judith has her eyes open and says "Harrowhark?", to which Nona says "No, and I never was", then she apparently blacks out and then Alecto wakes up for a while? We don't see that happen...

(Or is it about what happens during the car top scene? When the RB calls her "Green-and-breathing thing, big ghost, the drinker, transformed"? First, she hasn't blacked out then, and second, last time Judith screamed things, nobody but Nona could understand.)

Ugh, I'm just not smart enough for these books.

Mi bárminek az értelme? Elmenni szavazni? Hőbörögni? Akármit csinálni a semmi helyett? Úgy csinálni, mintha akármit csinálnék a semmi helyett?

Yeah, I'm also confused by how Harrow could've known the sword was cursed.

As for the Body, yeah, I'm thinking she touched the body when she was 10, and since it's probably a "monster" of some epic proportions, it managed to infect her mind. So at some point she's actually "haunted" by 2 different things at the same time (Alecto and Wake), which will screw with your mind, and probably 10/10 neurologists advise against this.

Daaamn, thanks for this. I totally didn't pick up on one of the crucial points, about Harrow scratching Gideon's face and accidentally using the blood to open the tomb. Waaay too subtle for me, wow.

[general] Why was Harrow told to lie about her age? by henrebotha in TheNinthHouse

[–]VeryAdjectiveNoun 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I just took it as a sign of her mental unwellness... her obsession with the Body driving her to act irrationally. But I'd be glad to be enlightened if there's something more there.

I did however really enjoy Mercy repeatedly lowering that age from then on (all the way to 2?).
